Mabel K. Bradley

BROWDER - Mabel K. Bradley, 81, of 501 Mabel Lane, Browder, died at 1:40 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born May 8, 1922, in Muhlenberg County and was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church in Browder. She worked at the IGA Foodliner meat department in Beechmont.
Survivors include two sons, Clyde William Bradley of Henderson and Howard Dorris Bradley Jr. of Browder; five daughters, Patricia Sweatt of Central City, Connie Edwards of Owensboro, Joyce Rager of Central City; Debbie Brock of Bowling Green and Susan Carver of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Annette Wint. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bradley.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Burial will be in Forest Grove cemetery in Browder. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Elizabeth T. O'Brien

Elizabeth T. O'Brien, 87, of Owensboro died Monday, July 5, 2004, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Ill. She was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Daviess County to Shiley Robert Tucker and Bessie Bailey and retired from South Central Bell as a switchboard supervisor. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers, Mountainman Association and Wally Byam Air Stream Travel Club and was a Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, hunting and camping. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas O'Brien, in 1988; and a son, James Rutigliano, in June 2003.
Survivors include three granddaughters, Elizabeth Scott Rutigliano of Frankfort, Frances Jane Butler of Shelbyville and Anne Catherine Hose of Springfield; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at noon Saturday, July 10, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Father John Meredith will officiate.
Pauline Mitchell

CADIZ - Pauline Mitchell, 78, of 1320 Canton Road, Cadiz, died at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at her son's residence in Whitesville from natural causes. She was born June 10, 1926, in Monroe, N.C. She was a private sitter and a member of Canton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Mitchell; her parents, John S. and Emma Treadaway Deese; and four brothers, Bill Deese, Joe Deese, Neal Deese and Paul Deese.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, the Rev. John and Pam Mitchell of Cadiz, Tim and Della Mitchell of Whitesville and Terry Mitchell of Cadiz; a brother, Bob Deese of Concord, N.C.; four grandchildren, Ashley Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell and Carol Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Norman Ellis and the Rev. John Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in East End cemetery in Cadiz. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ohio County or American Cancer Society.
Martha Aileen Dickerson

BROWDER - Martha Aileen Dickerson, 80, of 1524 Highway 431 South, Browder, died at 7 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born July 6, 1924, in Muhlenberg County and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Ray "Buddy" Dickerson; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy Darrel and Joyce Aliene Dickerson of Beechmont; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Sue and David Lonzo Penrod of Beechmont; five grandchildren, Penny Denise Dickerson Knight of Georgetown, Jana Michelle Penrod Downing of Louisville, Beverly Dawn Dickerson Peterson of Greenville, Lora Renee Penrod Arrendell of Belton and Paula Rae Dickerson Adams of Nelson Creek; and eight great-grandchildren, Allison Simpson, Tiffany Downing, Bailey Peterson, Derek Downing, Sarah Peterson, Logan Adams, Drew Arrendell and Will Knight.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. J.T. Price officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery in Drakesboro. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

BEAVER DAM - Wayne R. Daugherty, 51, of Beaver Dam died Friday, July 9, 2004, at his home. He was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Daugherty; two sons, Marion Carl Daugherty and Jeremy Wayne Daugherty; a daughter, Misty Lee Alquicira; three brothers; and four sisters.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Oak Ridge cemetery in Butler County. Visitation: From 3 to 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
William Lawton Hargis

William Lawton Hargis, 96, of 2024 Griffith Place East, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at his home. He was born in Pulaski County, the eldest son of five children born to Etta and James Hargis.
Mr. Hargis received his early education in Somerset. He later studied at the University of Akron and the University of Louisville, where his special interests were journalism and business English.
After working briefly in private industry, he entered federal government service in 1935 with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington, D.C. He joined the staff of the Social Security Administration in 1936 and was on duty in Washington, Louisville and Ashland, and in Nelsonville, Ohio, Youngstown, Ohio, and Canton, Ohio. In 1949 he became manager of the Owensboro office of the Social Security Administration, where he worked until his retirement as regional manager in 1970. In all his positions within the agenc,y he did a good deal of public speaking. In Owensboro he was active in the Rotary Club and in support of the American Red Cross.
Mr. Hargis was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Army Medical Corps. From September 1944 to spring 1946 he worked as a clerk-typist in the General Headquarters, European Theater of Operations, Paris, France. His duties consisted of transcribing, unscrambling and typing for distribution top secret military information received by radio or cable from the United States and from all theaters of operations, as well as from the front lines.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pauline Back Hargis. In 1997 he married
Ava Westerfield. She, her daughter Sandra Barbour, and her daughter's family survive him.
Mr. Hargis is survived by his son, Gary Hargis of Owensboro; and his daughter, Karen Hargis Kirtley of Portland, Ore. He cherished his daughter-in-law, Marie Hargis; his son-in-law, Bill Kirtley; his five grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Red Cross. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Paula Frailley

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Paula Frailley, 55, of 1026 N. County Road, 450 West, Rockport, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was born March 20, 1949, to the late Dean O. and Betty Parker James in Daviess County. She was formerly a nurse at Owensboro Medical Health System, working in several different departments, and had spent her life in health care. She was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Society and a former member of Kentucky Nurses Association. Paula loved horseback riding, reading, camping and caring for people. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Richard G. Frailley of Rockport; a son, Brian and his wife, Pam, Frailley of Maceo; two daughters, Beth Dennis and her husband, Robert, of Owensboro and Bridget Maxie and her husband, Shawn, of Paducah; three grandchildren, Brianna Nicole Frailley, Emilee Hope Dennis and Evan Scott Dennis; her stepmother, Marie B. James of Owensboro; three brothers, Dr. Steven James of San Diego, John M. James of Vienna, Va., and Patrick L. James of Salt Lake City; a stepbrother, David E. Ford of Philpot; a stepsister, Susan VanBusKirk of Nashville; and a brother-in-law, Clarence and Georgia Frailley of Fort Valley, Ga.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Owensboro Christian Church, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Dr. R. Kieth Binford

EDEN, Utah - Robert Kieth Binford passed away Sunday, July 11, 2004. He was born April 6, 1933, in Wichita, Kan., to Mabel Lindsey and Robert Dick Binford. Kieth was a graduate of Raton, N.M., High School, Highlands University in New Mexico, Am Graduate School of International Management, Stanford University and was a Ford Foundation Fellow.
Kieth was a corporal during the Korean conflict, communications specialist. On Jan. 15, 1955, he married
G. Anne Myles of Owensboro. Soon after, they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and solemnized their marriage in the Manti Temple. Kieth held office of High Priest at the time of his death.
His career spanned professional as well as volunteer activities. He served in Export, Ferry-Morse Seed Co.; administrator, Stanford University and American River College; consultant, California legislator; director, Colorado Community Colleges; dean, University of Guam. Kieth was founder of the North Utah Multiple Sclerosis Society, establishing service to dozens of families; chairman of Utah Alcohol Control Commission; councilman of Utah State University; candidate for Utah State legislature; mayor pro tem of Arvada, Co. He served his church as elders quorum instructor, teacher, trainer, counselor and committees of BS of A; also was a computer specialist AR Fort Smith Stake.
Surviving are his wife, Anne of Eden; six children, David (Jonna) of Portland, Cristi McMurdie of Chandler, Ariz., Carolynn (Jeff) Pease of Smithfield, Utah, Dan (Desiree) of Salt Lake City; Jennifer (Charlie) Johnson of Philadelphia; Myles Jason (Kim) of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren. Kieth is also survived by two sisters, Carroll (Roy) Walker of Kopperl, Texas, and Lindsey (Finley) Jones, Tioga, Texas. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Dr. Earle D. Binford.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at the L.D.S. Wolf Creek Ward Chapel, 2900 N. Highway 162, Eden, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, July 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., and on Saturday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the Ward Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Green (Utah) cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the M.S. Society, 2995 S.W. Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84115.
Bruce Allen Payne

Bruce Allen Payne, 42, of Free Silver Road, Knottsville, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at his home. He was born in Daviess County and was a member of St. William Catholic Church. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James Alvin Payne, in 1992.
Survivors include his mother, Joan Payne of Knottsville; four brothers, Ronnie Payne of Hawesville, Ricky and Kenny Payne of Knottsville and Tommy Payne of St. Johns, Ariz.; two sisters, Cathy Daugherty of Hawesville and Staci Crabtree of Utica; and six nephews and seven nieces.
Services are at 6 p.m. Friday at St. William Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. William cemetery in Knottsville. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday at the church. Cecil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Helen Tanner Richardson

Mary Helen Tanner Richardson, 81, of 3704 Kipling Lane, Owensboro died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 19, 1923, in Owensboro to the late Fred Tanner and Iveta Leisure. She was a retired homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church of Owensboro.
Survivors include her husband, Lyman A Richardson of Owensboro; a sister, Dorothy White of Wichita Falls, Texas; four sister-in-laws, Ruth Henderson, Christine Henderson and her husband Paul Henderson, Deuma Ann Hixenbaugh and Helen Tanner, all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial in Barnett's Creek Church in Hartford. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home.
