GREENVILLE - Clifford W. Kirk, 76, of Greenville died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center. He worked odd jobs and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a brother, Ervin P. Kirk; and a sister, Loretta Phelps.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial: Maple Grove cemetery in Russellville. Visitation: After 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wanda Lee Newton Terry

CENTRAL CITY - Wanda Lee Newton Terry, 71, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her home in Central City. She was born on June 19, 1933, in Hancock County, the daughter of the Alex and Rosetta Nugent Newton. She worked for Jerry's Restaurant in Shelbyville and Owensboro for 11 years and, at the end of her working career, for Displaced Homemakers in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Wilson Terry; and a daughter, Mary Susan Coffman.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 27, at 2 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville.

She is survived by three daughters, Judith Dawn Spencer of Frederick, Md., Lori Lee Rice of Greenville and Beth Lynn Farmer of Central City; two sons, Michael Gleen Terry of Owensboro and Marc Hughes Terry of Tampa, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Susan Faulkenburg of Tell City, Ind., Louetta Jarboe of Cannelton, Ind., and Carol Perkins of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Alex Newton of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, July 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clemmie Coakley

RUMSEY - Clemmie Coakley, 98, of Rumsey died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Riverside Manor Healthcare Center in Calhoun. She was a homemaker and member of Knobbs Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include four sons, Hugh Coakley, R.C. Coakley, Gerald Coakley and Larry Coakley; and a sister, Lora Revlett.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial: Calhoun cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Calhoun cemetery, Tornado Relief Fund, c/o Winfred Williams, P.O. Box 201, Calhoun, KY 42327.

Gloria Ann Litteral Turner

FORDSVILLE - Gloria Ann Litteral Turner, 64, of Fordsville died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at her home. She was born in Whitesville on Jan. 14, 1940, and was a housewife. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Litteral; her mother, Alkie Kelley; her stepfather, Ernest Kelley; her brothers, Winnie Litteral and James Litteral; and her sister, Betty Jo Long.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas C. Turner; a son, Thomas Glenn Turner and wife, Becky, of Owensboro; two daughters, Donna Ann Blandford and husband, Jimmy Dale, of Owensboro and Anissa Lynn Marchand and husband, Ron, of Pellville; six grandchildren, Tabatha Turner, Joshua Blandford, Heather, Colton, Cory and John Michell Marchand; two stepgrandchildren, Junior Blandford and Jennifer Blandford; a stepgreat-grandchild, Reagan Blandford; four sisters, Theda Riley of Florida, Neil Hubert of Texas, Kitty Howard of Owensboro and Phillis Lyons of Michigan; four brothers, Paul Litteral and wife, Janie, Bobby Litteral and wife, Janie, and Bobby Litteral and wife, Audry, all of Texas, Lucky Litteral and wife, Grace, of Florida, and Rannie Kelley of Louisville; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville, with burial in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Harry 'Frank' Neel
07/30/2004

Harry "Frank" Neel, 82, of Whitesville died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at his home. He was born in Daviess County to the late Eula and Gonie Neel, retired from Modern Welding and was a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Wilkerson; a brother, Barrett Neel; and a sister, Louise Jett.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Edwina Neel; three daughters, Patty and Steve Johnson, Bonnie Wathen and Doretha and Barry Woalen, all of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bea Crowe of Owensboro and Georgia Mae Franey of Whitesville.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Philpot. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Velva Marie Brown

Velva Marie Brown, 86, of 1617 Parrish Court, passed away July 10, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born in Cloverport and had been the co-owner of the Gem Café for more than 35 years with her husband, Jack. She was well known for her homemade pies and biscuits made fresh every morning. She had worked at General Electric for about a year. Together, they were avid bowlers. She enjoyed ceramics, painting, quilting and gardening. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Unit 5 nurses and staff at Hillcrest for their compassionate care.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Alfred J. "Jack" Brown; three daughters, Linda Garrett of Lexington, Janet Brown of Charlotte, N.C., and Donna Marino (Pat) of Williamsburg, Mich.; a sister, Thelma Viola Handy of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Helen Winchester of Madisonville; a granddaughter, Teresa Beck (Mike) of Winchester; a great-grandson, Samuel Logan Beck; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Owen and Ruth Goatley Pate; two brothers, Earl and Arthur Pate; two sisters, Ethel Limer and Geneva O'Reilly; and a son-in-law, Leonard H. Garrett.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Emma Lucille Agrue Miller

Emma Lucille Agrue Miller, 59, of Owensboro, formerly of Owenton, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Praise Baptist Church in Alexandria, Ohio.

Survivors include her children, Peter V. Miller, Monica Miller, Ann Randall, Micheal Brown, Regina Bunch, Thomas Miller, Lisa Leach and Jennifer Sammons; three brothers, Albert Agrue, Grover Agrue and Floyd Agrue; and four sisters, Elizabeth Hamon, Edith McDaniel, Ann Stewart and JoAnn Walker.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. today at Owenton cemetery. McDonald & New Funeral Homes in Owenton is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions: Funeral expenses for the family, c/o the funeral home.

Frankie Whitaker

GREENVILLE - Mr. Frankie Whitaker, 83, of 3686 U.S. Highway 62 West, Greenville died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at 8:30 p.m. in Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born June 12, 1921, in Logan County, the son of William Henry Whitaker and Laura Williams Whitaker. He was a member of Bards Hill General Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elta Williams Whitaker, on Nov. 6, 2000.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 24, at 2 p.m. from Bards Hill Church by the Rev. Terry Groves. Burial will be in Yeargins Chapel cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Wayne of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Brett Wayne of Greenville and Elissa Collins of Bowling Green; five great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Gabrielle, Madenline, Ty and Brock; a brother, Johnnie Whitaker of Shelbyville, Tenn.; and a sister, Lottie Scott of Greenville.

Friends may call at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville from 5 to 8 p.m. today, July 23, and after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Sister Mary Teresita Pionke

Sister Mary Teresita Pionke, 87, of 405 W. Parrish Ave., Owensboro died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at St. Joseph Villa in Maple Mount. Born in Chicago, Sister was a member of Glenmary Home Mission Sisters of America for 51 years. She lived and ministered in small towns and rural communities of Ohio, Kentucky and Georgia. She enjoyed working with children and adults with mental and physical challenges, and she was the driving force behind the establishment of a training center and group homes for women in Burke County, Ga.

Sister Teresita is survived by her sister, Frances Pionke of Niles, Ill., and her Glenmary family.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon, July 21, at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. There is no visitation. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Glenmary Sisters, P.O. Box 22264, Owensboro, KY 42304.

Thelma Jane Williams

DECATUR, Ala. - Memorial services for Mrs. Thelma Jane Williams, 69, of Decatur will he held Saturday, Aug. 1, 2004, at 2 p.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church in Owensboro, with the Rev. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will be in Serenity Hills cemetery.

Mrs. Williams died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Decatur General Hospital in Decatur. She was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Breckinridge County to Becham and Ella Smith Heath. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Thomas Williams Jr.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, Charles Thomas Williams of Beaver Dam; five daughters, Judy Parker of Hawesville, Barbara Crowe and Dinah Tudor, both of Decatur, Debra Williams of Beaver Dam and Trina Ellison of Hartselle, Ala.; a brother, Joe Bruner of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Roberts of Owensboro and Winnie Varble of Orlando; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Helen Marie Taylor

HOPKINSVILLE - Helen Marie Taylor, 73, of 124 South Vine St., Hopkinsville, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. She was born Jan. 23, 1931, to George Farrow and Esther Fox Farrow. She retired from Piggly Wiggly Deli and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Mount Olive Usher Board and District Usher Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Danny Taylor.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Tyrone (Doretta) Bush of Owensboro and Rhonda Taylor Parris of Hopkinsville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at noon Monday, July 19, at First Street Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. The Rev. C.E. Timberlake will officiate. Burial will be in Cave Spring cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Adams & Sons Mortuary, 306 Mechanic St., Hopkinsville.
