BEAVER DAM - Robert N. Hurt, 48, of Louisville died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Caritas Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Louisville and retired from Pluckybaum Custom Boats. He was a member of Shively Moose Lodge and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hurt; a son, Robert Ethan Hurt of Louisville; a daughter, Rachel Mae Hurt of Louisville; his mother, Dora Hurt of Louisville; a brother, James D. Hurt Jr. of Louisville; and three sisters, Angela Johnson, Pamela Tiller and Kimberly Price, all of Louisville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 6, and from 9 a.m. to time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the family.

Anthony Scott Johnson

Anthony Scott Johnson, 33, of Owensboro passed away at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Emory-Aventist Hospital emergency room in Smyrna, Ga. He was born in Daviess County on Oct. 5, 1970, to Ronald and Mary Douglas Johnson. He attended Seventh Street Church of God in Christ, was formerly employed with Owensboro Parks Department and attended Apollo High School.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Johnson; three stepchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth Johnson of Glenarden, Md., and Ronald Johnson, Jameson Johnson, Tyrice Crowe and Dominique Smith, all of Owensboro; and three sisters, Ronnette Pollard of Atlanta, and Lynn Holman and Whitley Crowe, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fourth Street Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Anna Alpha Petty Trogden

HARTFORD - Anna Alpha Petty Trogden, 89, of 2135 Hoopee Hill Road, Hartford died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born July 21, 1915, in Ohio County to Oscar Petty and Hettie Thurman Petty and was a retired homemaker. She was a member of Washington United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Trogden on Oct. 2, 1990; a son, Willis Carson Trogden in 1949; a daughter, Hettie Glen Culbertson in 1965; and a son-in-law, Tony C. Smith in 1985.

Survivors include three sons, James Trogden, William Curtis Trogden and Earl Ray Trogden, all of Hartford; two daughters, Wilda Puckett and Katrina Gail Casteel, both of Hartford; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jessie Myers of Boonville, Ind., and Maloria Casey of Beaver Dam.

Services are at 2 .m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford with the Rev. Fred Sandage officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Visitation is from noon until 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Dee Langford

BEAVER DAM - Dorothy Dee Langford, 87, of Silsbee, Texas, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, in Silsbee. She was born in Cromwell and retired as a nurse's aide. She resided in Carmi, Ill., for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cedric Lamar Langford; a son, Gerald H. Langford; a daughter, Shirl Jean Langford; and her parents, William Edward and Emma Dean Kessinger Davis.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Langford of Dothan, Ala., and Frank Langford of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a daughter, Linda Langford Odom of Silsbee.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles Neel Harrison

EVANSVILLE - Charles Neel Harrison, 79, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Evansville. He was born June 6, 1925, to the late Elmer Neel and Beulah Winkler Harrison in Daviess County. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, retired from Texas Gas Transmission Land Department in 1985 with more than 35 years of service, and was currently employed by RWRA as a contract landman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Maverick Sunday school class and the Hardee's Coffee Bunch and was a Kentucky Colonel and Mason. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats, Atlanta Braves and his collie, Shelby. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Hudson, in January 2002.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Gaye Reynolds Harrison; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Mike Harrison and Judi of Clarksville, Tenn., and Kevin Mark Harrison and Anna of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Angie, Brad, John, James and Joanie; and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will immediately follow in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children or Owensboro-Daviess County Humane Society.

Willie James Snodgrass

BEAVER DAM - Willie James Snodgrass, 82, of Beaver Dam died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Ohio County on June 22, 1922. He was the son of Andrew Jackson Snodgrass and Zenia Moore Snodgrass. He retired as a coal miner from Peabody Coal Co., Ken Surface Mine, and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, the Welcome Sunday school class and United Mine Workers of America, Local No. 8941. He was an Army 83rd Infantry Division veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Patterson Snodgrass, who died Feb. 23, 1975; a brother, Bloomer Snodgrass; and a sister, Pansy Snodgrass.

Survivors include a son, Kent Snodgrass and wife, Shirley, of Georgetown; a daughter, Benita Rowe and husband, Ray, of Beaver Dam; a brother, Willis Snodgrass of Beaver Dam; a sister, Venzie Brown of Hartford; a grandson, Alan Rowe of Beaver Dam; and eight nephews and three nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 13, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Betty Nell Crick

GREENVILLE - Mrs. Betty Nell Crick, 74, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at 3:20 p.m. in Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Muhlenberg County on Oct. 15, 1929, and lived in Greenville. She was a retired employee in housekeeping at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. at Gary's Funeral Home by Mr. Tim Childs and Mr. John Kelton. Burial will be in Cherry Grove cemetery in Weir.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Crick of Greenville; a son, Bobby Laster of Greenville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today, Aug. 6, after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary E. 'Sissy Bastin' Salee

Mary E. "Sissy Bastin" Salee, 81, of 1837 Willis Ave., Owensboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in Owensboro. She was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Muhlenberg County to the late James and Maggie (Stewart) Bastin. She was a member of Parrish Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Salee, in 1958.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Salee and Bill Salee, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Jo Salee of Owensboro; a grandchild, Justin Aubrey; and a sister, Sarah Carpenter of Washington.

Services are at noon Friday, Aug. 13, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Jo Carol 'Jody' Whitten Wiggins

CENTERTOWN - Jo Carol "Jody" Whitten Wiggins, 54, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Centertown, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004. She was born in Centertown, attended Centertown Elementary and graduated from Ohio County High School. She was a member of Walton Creek Baptist Church and was employed as a maintenance resource leader at D.B. Wilson Plant of Western Kentucky Energy in Matanzas. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Centertown Chapter No. 78. She was active in several organizations, including Ohio County United Way and Ohio County Repair Fair and was the coordinator for Western Kentucky Energy in Celebrate the Child. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jo Nell Sheffield Whitten, in 1993.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Wiggins of Beaver Dam; a son, Chris Smith of Louisville; a stepson, Daniel Hardwick of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Angela McQueary of Connersville, Ind.; her father, Edsell Whitten of Centertown; three brothers, Keith, Kevin and Kenny Whitten, all of Centertown; a sister, Candy Whitten of Centertown; a grandson, Luke Smith; two granddaughters, Alison and Britney McQueary; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Centertown. Burial will follow in Centertown cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edyth F. Stevens Crask McBrayer

HAWESVILLE - Edyth F. Stevens Crask McBrayer, 85, of Hawesville died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at her home. She was born Aug. 4, 1919, to the late Bob and Flo Nugent Stevens in Chambers. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church and retired from the dietary department at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Stevens; and a nephew, Rick Stevens.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara "Bobbie" Jackson and her husband, William "Billy," of Hancock County; two grandchildren, Toni Cox and husband, Gary, of Hancock County and Ronald Jackson and wife, Sheri, of Lewisport; six great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Trisha and Melissa Jackson, Shannon and husband Jeremy Corley and Kayla and Jordan Cox; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Bethany Corley.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville, with the Rev. Larry Sosh officiating. Burial will be in Blackford Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. All donations are to be made to Hospice. Envelopes will be at the funeral home.

Mary C. Keiser

Mary C. Keiser, 82, of 4433 Strickland Drive, Owensboro passed away on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Warren County, was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Herman E. Keiser; two sons and their wives, David and Betty Keiser of Owensboro and Daniel and Edna Keiser of Owensboro; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six brothers, James, Carl, Samuel, Marvin, Frank and Charles Hayden, all of Owensboro; and three sisters, Margaret Blincoe and Fairy J. Ford, both of Owensboro and Margie Wilkerson of St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, 230 J.R. Miller Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42303.
