GREENVILLE - LaDona Morris Malone, 69, of Greenville died Saturday night, Sept. 11, 2004, in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1934, the daughter of David and Norma Gray Morris. She was a member of Luzerne Baptist Church and the BellSouth Pioneers and Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5478. She retired in 1993 from BellSouth as a second line supervisor after 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Timmy "Bear" Evitts in 1989; and a stepbrother, Billy Wayne Gary.

She is survived by one sister, Leona (Truck) Evitts of Greenville; one niece, Stephanie Ledure of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and six nephews, Randy Gray of Henderson, Tony Gray of Henderson, Chris Gray of Henderson, Brent Gray of Henderson, Chris Evitts of Greenville and Don Newcom of Henderson.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at 3 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by the Rev. Joe Pharris. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Powderly. Friends may call on Tuesday morning, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville.

Ronald 'Ron' Pitchford

REIDLAND - Ronald "Ron" Pitchford, 63, of Reidland died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at 9:55 a.m. at his home. He worked in insurance sales for 35 years and was a member of Reidland Baptist Church and Reidland Lions Club. He was an Evansville native. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard C. Pitchford and Mary Akin Kurzeja.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Pat Aldridge Pitchford of Reidland; five daughters, Ronda Snow of Memphis, Sharron Walker of Paducah, Ren'e Miller of Tahoe, Calif., Sherry Adams of Murray and Beth Bell of Owensboro; a son, Randy Mayfield of Owensboro; a sister, LuAnn Bethel of Paducah; a brother, Charles Pitchford of Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Dr. Larry Lewis and the Rev. Ben Butler officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Park cemetery in Paducah. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lourdes Hospital, 2855 Jackson St., P.O. Box 7100, Paducah, KY 42002-7100.

Helen Green Beckley

Helen Green Beckley, 90, of Louisville, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Four Courts Senior Center in Louisville. Born in Henderson County, a daughter of the late Preston C. and Nina Oldham Green, Mrs. Beckley was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and had been an active volunteer and leader of the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the board of directors of the Mary Kendall Home and helped open the Bakers Rack in 1974, with which she was associated until 1987. Her husband, Elmer C. Beckley, preceded her in death in 1994; as well as her brother, Preston Green Jr.; and her sister, Alice Green.

Her daughter, Janet Beckley Fleck of Louisville; her grandchildren, Juliet Singleton Robertson, James W. Robertson Jr. and his wife, Colleen Ford, and Jane Christian Robertson Aquino and her husband, Michael, all of Louisville; her great-grandchildren, Maeve Beckley Robertson, Aidan Gerald Robertson, Abigail Victoria Aquino and Rachel Christian Aquino; her nephew, Charles Green of Vero Beach, Fla.; and her niece, Rebecca Green Locknane of Lexington survive her.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, where visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Zion United Church of Christ, 240 Allen St., Owensboro, KY 42303.

Claudius R. Casebier

GREENVILLE - Claudius R. Casebier, 87, formerly of Pleasant Hill Drive, Burgin, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. Born in Muhlenberg County to the late R.A. and Cora Sumner Casebier, he was a retired senior systems supervisor for the Kentucky Utilities dispatch, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Burgin Baptist Church where he was a former trustee and greeter and member of the Young at Heart class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Dean Hays Casebier; and a granddaughter, Sondra Olson.

Survivors include a son, Bud (Judy) Casebier of Paris, Ky.; a daughter, Mary (Scott) Olson of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, Clarence Casebier of Owensboro and Earl Casebier of Louisville; a sister, Mildred Wells of Greenville; four grandchildren, Krista Woodham, Meredith Olson, Lynn McKay and Lisa Casebier; and two great-grandchildren, Cali Woodham and Sophia McKay.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Depoy. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Burgin Baptist Church Building Fund, the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Depoy or to the Alzheimer's Association.

William Patrick 'Pat' Church

William Patrick "Pat" Church of 2727 Morningside Drive, Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County, the son of the late Bernard and Mae Nalley Church. He was retired from Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He served in the Army National Guard and was activated during the Berlin Crisis. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed fishing and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.

Surviving is his wife, Vera Foster Church of Owensboro; a son, Jeff Church; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Tony Payne; two grandchildren, Dallas and Danielle Roberts, all of Owensboro; a brother, Arvel Church of Philpot; and a sister, Annie Hurm of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Mary Martine Payne, 79, of Rockport died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Professional Care Rehabilitation Center in Dale, Ind.

Surviving are two sons, Michael and Bill Payne; and four daughters, Stella Fodge, Zola Hollenbeck, Mary Hasty and Gloria Garrett.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport. Burial: Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport.

Beulah Melhiser Philpot

Beulah Melhiser Philpot, 84, of 1239 Hill Ave., Owensboro, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County a daughter of the late Henry E. and Ione Krahwinkel Melhiser, she was a member of First Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Ministry. She was a teacher in the Primary Department for many years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Bill Melhiser; and two sisters, Ettabelle Sellett Moss and Hazel Wigginton.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Floyd C. Philpot; her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol P. and John M. Hooker of Louisville and Kaye P. and Robert L. Graham; her brothers, Calvin Melhiser of Florida, Archie Melhiser of Whitesville and Keith Melhiser of Owensboro; her sisters, Coletta Rothemeier of Newburgh, Ind., Teulah Burton of Masonville, Mildred Hale and Opal Fieldon, both of Owensboro, Wanda Prater of Shelbyville and Norma Layne of Nashville; three grandchildren and spouses, Ken and Lori Hooker of Louisville, Jan and Keith Fetzer of Louisville and Eric Graham of Central City; and four great-grandchildren, Lauren and Luke Fetzer and John and Joseph Hooker.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, where visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 230 J.R. Miller Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42303 or Oneida Baptist Institute, P.O. Box 67, Oneida, KY 40972.

Grant G. Talbott Jr.

Grant G. Talbott Jr., 83, of 717 Hocker St., Owensboro passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at 2221 Sheffield Court, Owensboro, the home of his son and daughter-in-law. He was born in Owensboro and retired from South Central Bell Telephone Co. He was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church and a member of FOP Lodge. He was an avid sports fan and he served in the U.S. Army. His wife, Addie C. Talbott, preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Grant "GG" Talbott III (Toni) of Owensboro and James Dartez Talbott (Cheryl) of Sandersville, Ga.; grandchildren, Grant "Grangee" of Los Angeles, Shaun (Christa) of New Orleans, Shanice and Brittany of Sandersville; a great-grandchild, Nia of New Orleans; a brother, William L. Talbott (Hazelene) of Richmond, Va.; and five sisters, Mrs. Ethel T. Smith of Owensboro, Mrs. Gloria Hicks of St. Louis, Josephine Rowan (Harold) and Maxine Johnson (Claude) of Owensboro and Mrs. Sallene Lockett of St. Louis.

Services are at noon Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Fourth Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Fourth Street Baptist Church. McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the H.L. Neblett Community Center.

George R. Sanders Sr.

EMMITSBURG, Md. - George R. Sanders Sr., 84, of Dry Bridge Road, Emmitsburg, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the Gettysburg (Pa.) Hospital. Born Aug. 19, 1920, in Fountaindale, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Henry and Blanche Cecelia Sprankle Sanders. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Virginia Lingg Sanders on Dec. 26, 2003; a daughter, Mary Ann Wivell; a grandson, Brian Christopher Topper; and a great-grandson, Dakota Leo Wivell. He was a member of St. Anthony's Shrine Parish in Emmitsburg and Holy Name Society. Mr. Sanders had a true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and he was active with the pro-life to end abortion. He loved being with his family and enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses. Mr. Sanders was a flight engineer with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Sanders was owner and operator of Sanders Garage in Emmitsburg for 35 years.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George Robert Sanders Jr. and Linda J. of Emmitsburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Alma Cecelia Topper and James P. of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Renae L. Goff of Kalamazoo, Mich., Lisa M. Millay of Owensboro, Richard L. Wivell Jr. of Fairfield, Pa., and Scott A. Wivell of Smock, Pa.; 12 great-grandchildren; and three nieces and nephews. Mr. Sanders was the oldest of eight surviving siblings, they are: Marshall Sanders of Gettysburg, Anna Waysack of Frederick, Md., Rita (John) Wiley of Fort Myers, Fla., Thomas S. (Jeannie) Sanders of Phoenix, Mary (Donald) Bowne of Emmitsburg, Paul (Dot) Sanders of Gettysburg, Raymond (Charmaine) Sanders of Gettysburg and John (Linda) Sanders of Cherokee Village, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 21, with a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony's Shrine cemetery in Emmitsburg with the Rev. James Hannon as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Shrine cemetery in Emmitsburg. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 at the Skiles Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg. The Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Mass offerings are requested.

Michael T. Payne

Michael T. Payne, 55, of 6441 Highway 762, Philpot, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born July 19, 1949, in Owensboro, the son of James R. and Mary Ruth Payne. He was a partner in the Eight Ball Restaurant and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, NASCAR and barbecues. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Payne.

Survivors include two daughters, Beth and her husband David Tinnell and Jamie Payne, all of Owensboro; his mother, Mary Ruth Payne of Owensboro; three brothers, Ron Payne, David Payne and Patrick Payne, all of Owensboro; three sisters, Sheila Moberg of Gallatin, Tenn., Paula Payne of Lexington and Bonnie Bivens of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Courtney Payne and Jacob and Hannah Tinnel; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with entombment following in the Rosehill cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303.

Ronald W. 'Ron' Menzie

Ronald W. "Ron" Menzie, 64, of 5403 Red Mile Loop, Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, and was in corporate sales with Hausner Hard-Chrome Corp. from 1987 until 2004. He was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed hunting and NASCAR.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Shirley A. Menzie; a son and his wife, Tim and Janet Menzie of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter and her husband, Sloane Ann Roberts and Jimmy Piper of Owensboro; a sister, Donna Graves of Zanesville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jason T. Menzie of Weaver, Ala., T.J. Menzie and Madelin Ray Menzie, both of Dublin, Ohio, and Steven Roberts, Christopher Roberts and Hannah Embry, all of Owensboro; and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rouse officiating. Entombment will follow in the Rosehill cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday and after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
