Austin C. Millay

Austin C. Millay, 21, of 5282 Highway 60 West, Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. He was born May 31, 1983, in Daviess County and was employed at Texas Roadhouse. He was a full-time student at Kentucky Wesleyan College and member of the football team. He was a 2002 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School where he played football and lettered all four years. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Austin loved playing football, riding his motorcycle and wake boarding. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert A. Millay and Harold R. Bullock.

Survivors include his parents, Gary and Stephanie Bullock Millay of Owensboro; a son, Alex; three brothers, Nathan Millay of Nashville, Jonathan Millay of Lexington and twin brother, Adam Millay of Owensboro; his loving and best friend, Kim Fitzgerald of Owensboro; his grandmothers, Margaret Millay and Mary Bullock of Owensboro; one niece, Caleigh Millay of Owensboro; and also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services are at noon Wednesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with the Rev. Brad Whistle and the Rev. Freddie Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at Haley-McGinnis. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Precious Blood Building Fund in memory of Austin C. Millay.

Mary Helen Snell

Mary Helen Snell, 84, formerly of 516 E. 20th St., Owensboro, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Owensboro. She was born on March 23, 1920, in Reed to the late Roy E. and Mable (Shepherd) McLimore. She was retired from Harreld's Drug Store. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and of Golden Partners. She was a RSVP volunteer with Widowed Persons Service since 1986 and also served two terms on their board of directors. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. "Bud" Snell, on Jan. 19, 1984.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Snell and wife Teresa, Tom Snell and wife Silvana, all of Owensboro, and Mark Snell and wife Laura of Houston; a daughter, Diane Bruckner of Coldwater, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lyda M. Hood of Louisville; a niece, Robin Ann McDonald of Louisville; and a nephew, Kenneth Lucius.

Services are at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Blessed Mother Church in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, Inc., 923 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Albert 'Bud' Robinson Jr.

ROCKPORT, Ind. -- Albert "Bud" Robinson Jr., 82, of Rockport died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport. Bud was born in Rockport on Nov. 8, 1921, to the late Albert L. Sr. and Norah (Enright) Robinson. He was a steam presser at Ritchie Cleaners in Rockport, Vogue and Big B Cleaners in Owensboro. A member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and American Legion Post 254, both in Rockport, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696 in Owensboro, he was a veteran of World War II who served from September 1942 until Dec. 6, 1945. He served with the Medical Corps 6th Battalion Company D and participated in Omaha Beach on D Day #2. He served in the Korean War from October 1950 to August 1951 as a military police officer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Robinson, in 1991.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheri Robinson and husband Mike of Rockport; a half brother, Doug Robinson of California; two half sisters, Nancy Gaddis and Janie Robinson, both of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Travis Robinson of Anderson, Ind., and Michelle Robinson of Bowling Green; and a very close friend, Imogene Gibbs of Rockport.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport with Father Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport with American Legion graveside service. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport and 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Rockport Library.

Alpha Easton Kiefer
09/26/2004

Alpha Easton Kiefer, 90, formerly of 116 E. 18th St., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born in Owensboro to the late Alpha Easton and Edna Brown Easton. She retired from the Kentucky Department of Employment Services after 24 years of service. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral, the Altar Society, Mount St. Joseph Alumna Club and the Elizabeth Munday Center. She was a Kentucky Colonel and Lady Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and was an avid baseball fan.

She is survived by three daughters, Jackie and husband Ronnie Jones, Rebecca and husband David Millay and Marti Church, all of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Brandon Millay, Barry Millay, Chris Millay, Sara Beyke and Brian Church; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Avildsen of Wheaton, Ill.

Services will be held Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at St. Stephen Cathedral at 10 a.m. Visitation will be today from 1 to 6 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in St. Mary Magdalene cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to Girls, Inc., Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1626, Owensboro, KY 42302 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Evelyn Ruth Harper

DALE, Ind. -- Evelyn Ruth Harper, 81, of Dale died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Jasper Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Lincolnland Worship Center in Santa Claus, Ind.

Survivors include her husband, Luther Harper; two sons, Luther "Larry" Harper Jr. and Robert "Bob" Harper; a daughter, Wanda Ann Hanaway; and a sister, Wanda Lee Bailey.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory in Dale. Burial: Buffaloville (Ind.) cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Darlene Louise Gilmore Bristow

Darlene Louise Gilmore Bristow, 59, of 3121 St. Ann St., Owensboro, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at her home. She was born April 24, 1945, in Daviess County to the late Roy William and Hattie Evelyn Burdette Gilmore. Darlene worked at Swedish Match and enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts and became an instant friend to all she met with her gifts of having a big heart and faith in the Lord. She was a member of South Hampton Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, James Bristow; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Robert Jackson of Maceo; son, Shawn Bristow of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Megan Rasberry and Patrick Bristow; and two sisters, Betty Burris of Crown Point, Ind., and Bonnie Gilmore of Merced, Calif.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Ford officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at James H. Davis Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, 319 W. 10th St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Anthony Aaron Skipworth

DUNMOR -- Anthony Aaron Skipworth, 83, of Dunmor died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville. He was a farmer, a member of Myers Chapel United Methodist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Coursey Skipworth; a son, Billy W. Skipworth; two daughters, Katy Greenwood and Gayla Luckett; two stepsons, Gale Mohon and Dennis Mohon; a stepdaughter, Angie Dudley; and a sister, Juanita Johnson.

Services: 1 p.m. today at Myers Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial: Dunmor cemetery. Visitation: From 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg.

Elmer Scott

Elmer Scott, 70, of Owensboro died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

Survivors include a son, Larry Wayne Scott; and two sisters, Beatrice Cornelius and Margaret Henry.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. today at Maple Grove cemetery in Russellville. Visitation: From 10 a.m. until noon today at Memorial Funeral Home in Russellville.

Mary Dessie Morris

Mary Dessie Morris, 103, of Knottsville died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born in Ohio County on July 26, 1901. She was the daughter of Martin Commodore and Laura Townsley Hawkins. Her husband of 30 years, William Odus Morris, preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1959. She was also preceded in death by four children, Charles, Ruth, Gene and Rudolph. Mrs. Morris was a homemaker. She was also a member of St. William Church and a member of the Ladies Alter Society.

Survivors included six sons and their spouses, Edward Morris of Whitesville, John Morris of Scottsburg, Ind., James "Rusty" and Alice Morris of Gloucester, Va., Joe and Rosie Morris of Clarksville, Ind., Harold and Barbara Morris of Whitesville, Francis "Red" and Dottie Morris of Knottsville; three daughters, Mae Ella Wathen of Tampa, Fla., Madeline Payne of Whitesville and Trelva Anderson of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law, Irene Morris of Maceo; 44 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; 64 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2 until 8 p.m. and Sunday after 11 a.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Cecil Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Hayden Alexander Egeler

Hayden Alexander Egeler, infant son of Billy and Kimberly Egeler of 1225 Worthington Road, Owensboro, died at 3:48 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in Daviess County.

Other survivors include his grandmothers, Jane Ralph of Owensboro and Linda Wright of Olaton; his grandfather, Peter Egeler of Knoxville, Tenn.; his great-grandmother, Adel Moberly of Hartford; and a sister, Amy Payne at home.

There will be no services. Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leslie 'L.J.' Caysinger
09/25/2004

Leslie "L.J." Caysinger, 79, of Owensboro died at his home Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004. He was a self-employed welder, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Owensboro Faith Fellowship.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Caysinger; two sons, Stephen Patrick Caysinger Richards of Fordsville and Anthony Thielen of Russell Springs; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Cecil Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cates cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville.
