Anna Cooper Austin

Services for Anna Cooper Austin, 73, of Owensboro will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home. Dr. J. Kevin McCallon will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Kenton cemetery. Mrs. Austin died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at Owensboro Medical Health System.

Formerly of Paducah, Mrs. Austin was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah, where she taught children's church for nine years under Pastor John Wood. She was a Kentucky Colonel, Cub Scout leader, Brownie leader and past president of the Rolling Hills Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

Surviving are three sons, John D. Austin of Owensboro, Shelby W. Austin of Denver and Gregory L. Austin of St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter, Kimberly A. Austin of Paducah; grandchildren William Michael Burns, April Starr Austin, Anthony Wayne Austin, Jared Glen Burns, Eli Jackson Burns, Tiffany Nicole Burks, DruAnn Michelle Austin, John David Nicholas Austin and Whitney Cullin Austin; and great-grandchildren William Jason Burns, Justin Taylor Burns and Shiann Cierra Austin.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Wayne Austin, Eli Jackson Burns, Jared Glen Burns, John David Nicholas Austin, William Michael Burns and Jeffery Walker Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Slankard, John Debow, Mike Stewart, Lyn Atkinson, Vernon L. Austin, John W. Jones and John D. Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Cullin Austin. Her parents were Shelby Lewis and Hattie Egelston Cooper.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Tributes may be left online at www.milnerandorr.com. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a charity of choice.

Collin Truitt Poynter

TROY PIKE -- Collin Truitt Poynter, 11, of Troy Pike, son of Rod and Julia Poynter, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital. Born in Athens, Ga., on June 2, 1993, he was a 5th-grade student at Southside Elementary School, attended Versailles United Methodist Church and was chairman of Collin's Classic For Children With Cancer.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Ray and Nancy Kramer of Owensboro; paternal grandparents, Jerry E. and Janrose Poynter of Keavy; paternal great-grandmother, Willie Mullins of Keavy; four aunts, an uncle; and five cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles E. Truitt; maternal great-grandparents, Luther and Catherine Luckett and Evans and Mildred Truitt; paternal great-grandfather, Herman Mullins; and paternal great-grandparents, Lionel (Onel) and Ella Kate Poynter.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at Versailles United Methodist Church, officiated by Dr. Steve Martyn and the Rev. Coleman Howlett. Burial will follow at the Lexington cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Clark Funeral Home in Rose Hill (873-3700) and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Casketbearers will be Collier Mills, Glenn Truitt, Gerald York, Kevin Humphrey, Scott Cook and Michael Steckler. Honorary bearers will be Haley and Emily Cook, Holly and Ellison Humphrey and Allison Peters. Per Collin's request, memorial contributions should go to Collin's Classic, c/o First Security Bank, P.O. Myrtie Morris Slinker

ISLAND -- Myrtie Morris Slinker, 83, of Daniels Street, Island, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at her home in Island. Myrtie Mary Morris was born Jan. 10, 1921, in the Graham community of Muhlenberg County to the late Jim and Eula Jane Morris and was later married to Clarence L. Slinker on Dec. 20, 1939. Myrtie had retired from Sunny Acres Personal Care of Calhoun and was a longtime member of Island Church of God of Prophecy. She especially enjoyed both her family and her church family. Her husband, Clarence Slinker, died Oct. 9, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Girtie Slinker; and by four brothers, Orville Morris, Dee Morris, J.W. Morris and the Rev. R.T. Morris.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Monzel and Edna Slinker of Sacramento and Carl and Brenda Slinker of Louisville; two daughters and their husbands, Betty and Kenneth Howard of Versailles and Youlanda and Jimmy Campbell of Rumsey; 12 grandchildren, the Rev. Troy Slinker, Mischelle Nelson, Shannon Slinker, Angel Carlise, Susan Callis, Eddie Simpson, Kelly Burdette, Kenneth Howard, Scott Campbell, Brittany Campbell, Leslie Fontenot and Kitty Ruth Howard; 24 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Roy Morris of Louisville; a half brother, Curtis Morris of Sacramento; and a half sister, Louise Johnson of Island.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Island Church of God of Prophecy with Sister Carolyn Erwin and the Rev. Troy Slinker officiating. Burial will be in Island Community cemetery. Friends may visit with the Slinker family from 8 to 10:30 a.m. today at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel.

The Myrtie Morris Slinker family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Island Church of God of Prophecy, Building Fund, P.O. Box 254, Island, KY 42350. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.

Brenda Diane McPherson Young

NASHVILLE -- Brenda Diane McPherson Young, 53, passed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on Sept. 22, 2004, after a difficult battle with liver disease. Brenda was the youngest of nine children, born on March 6, 1951, to the late Ewin and Rachel McPherson in Muhlenberg County. She attended Hughes Kirk School in Beechmont. On Sept. 2, 1967, she was united in marriage to Mike "Turkey" Young in Beech Creek. During the first years of marriage, she lived in California, Washington and Indiana while her husband served in the U.S. Army. She then returned to Beechmont to raise her children and to work. For the last five years, she lived in Lake Malone.

Brenda's faith in God was established at an early age. She grew up at Mud River Union Baptist Church and at Leigh's Chapel Baptist Church.

One of Brenda's passions in life was cooking. So much so that she made it her career. She worked for her sisters at WK Pizza for many years. During the last five years as a food services manager at Green River Correctional Facility, Brenda prepared meals and even taught inmates how to cook. She loved to sew, she loved flowers and gardening, and she even loved to cook as a hobby. She always served enough food for company to take some home.

Brenda's greatest passion in life was her family. She lavished her love on all around her. Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Mike; her son and his wife, Michael Alan and Louanne of Springfield, Tenn.; her son and his wife, Douglas Dewayne and Elaine of Princeton; five grandchildren, Michaela Dawn Young, Kyle Douglas Young, Alexander Cole Young, Katlain McKenzie Gilkey and Hannah Grace Young; four sisters, Jonell (Argul) Drake of Owensboro, Bonnie (Darrell) Cartwright of Belton, Peggy (Jimmy) Beliles of Drakesboro and Hettie (Neil Carver) Garrett of Belton; and two brothers, Cecil (Jan) McPherson and Charlie (Beverly) McPherson, both of Belton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alinda Blake; and an infant brother, Waymon McPherson.

Funeral services for Brenda Young will be held Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont. The Rev. Gerald "Preach" Belilies will officiate. Entombment will be at Leigh's Chapel Baptist Church Jackson cemetery following the funeral. The Green River Correctional Facility Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be at Beechmont Tucker Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 25, and will begin at 4 p.m. for relatives and 5 p.m. for friends.

Dale Glenn Robertson

BREMEN -- Dale Glenn Robertson, 45, of 2669 State Route 2551, Bremen, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born Nov. 19, 1958, in Cook County, Illinois. He was a union carpenter and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Central City.

Survivors include his wife, Keena Hall Robertson of Bremen; a daughter, Sarah Robertson of Central City; his mother, Joan Phillips of Bremen; four brothers, John Gregory of Bremen, Bobby Robertson Jr. of Illinois, Brian Robertson of Illinois and Allen Robertson of Illinois; and four sisters, Gail Robertson of Bremen, Tracy Wright of Central City, Sandy Gregory of Bremen and Kimberly Payne of Central City.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Danny Greene officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, 113 N. Third St., Central City.

Jean Bratcher

Jean Bratcher, 78, of Owensboro died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Bon Harbor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 2, 1925, Ms. Bratcher had worked at Prudential Life Insurance and Owensboro National Bank. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and loved playing the organ and piano. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George Bratcher, Martin Bratcher and Roy B. Bratcher.

She is survived by a sister, Marguerite Bell of Owensboro; a brother, Charley Bratcher of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Zion United Church of Christ.

Lacy Crit 'L.C' Donahoo

CALHOUN -- Lacy Crit "L.C." Donahoo, 81, of Scotts Bridge Road, Calhoun died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Lacy Crit Donahoo was born Sept. 21, 1923, to the late Carl Lee and Zelma Donahoo and was better known as "L.C." by his family and friends. L.C. was an Army veteran of World War II, having seen combat action both in Italy and France. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and three Bronze Stars. He was later married to the former Nellie Beverly Cobb on June 29, 1945. L.C. had retired as a barge captain from the Crounse Corp. and was a member of the Pentecostals of McLean.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nellie; a son and his wife, Loyd and Vonda Donahoo of Calhoun; a daughter and her husband, Connie and Barry Kirkwood of Hanson; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Donahoo of Calhoun and Carl Thomas Donahoo of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery with military honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5415. Friends may visit with the Donahoo family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Donahoo family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Pentecostals of McLean, Building Fund, c/o Muster Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 160, Calhoun, KY 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.

Richard Kevan Chappell

WHITE PLAINS -- Richard Kevan Chappell, 38, of White Plains, formerly of Greenville, died Monday night, Sept. 20, 2004. He was born May 18, 1966, in Greenville, the son of Alvin Kent Chappell and Mary Margaret Wilkinson Edmonds. He worked for Apex Rock Quarries as a driller. He was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Chappell, in 1994.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by the Rev. Gary McAbee. Burial will be in Greens Chapel cemetery in Greenville.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Chappell of Lewisport; a daughter, Shrina Chappell of Lewisport; his father, Al Chappell of Greenville; his mother, Mary Margaret Wilkinson Edmonds of Island; his brother, Tim Chappell of Greenville; his grandparents, James and Sarah Jane Wilkinson of Greenville; and his grandmother, Betty Chappell of Greenville.

Friends may call today, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville and after 9 a.m. Friday.

Ann Tillotson Girvin

LIVERMORE -- Ann Tillotson Girvin, 88, of East 7th St., Livermore, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. Anna Mae Tillotson was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Calhoun to the late Elbridge and Rena Mae Tillotson and was later married to William Fred Girvin. She was a homemaker and a member of Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, where she was also active in the Young At Heart Group. Ann served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was also a member of the Livermore Homemakers. Her husband, Fred Girvin, died July 25, 1965.

Survivors include a son, Freddie Girvin of Livermore; a daughter and her husband, Susan and Tom Quirk of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Bobbi Mann, Sherri Donahue, Eric Girvin and Matthew Quirk; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Tillotson of Almagorado, N.M.; a sister, Kat Tillotson Scheerer of Huntington, Ind.; and two sisters-in-law, Sue Girvin of Livermore and Coleta Girvin of Markle, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Shockley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with the Girvin family from 11 a.m. until time of services Friday at Musters in Livermore.
