Kenneth Lee King, 65, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver in Bracken County, and a member of Cynthiana Baptist Church. He also was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Figgins King; a son, Jesse King of Maysville; a sister, Wilma King Polley of Independence; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to the church, Cynthiana, Ky. 41031.

Anthony S. Kmit, 82, of Highland Heights, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a paper mill worker with the Kimberly Clark and Pentair companies in Niagara, Wis. He also was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post, Niagara, Wis. His wife, Kathryn Kmit, died in 1991.

Survivors include sons, Terry Kmit of Niagara, Wis. and Larry Kmit of Alexandria; a daughter, Sally Born of Alexandria; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 5 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Church in Niagara, Wis. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery. Freeman Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, Mich., is handling arrangements. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Janis Hisle Myers, 58, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Donald Ray Myers of Cynthiana; her mother, Helen Mattox Hisle of Cynthiana; a brother, Larry D. Hisle of Cynthiana; and sisters, Phyllis Fuller of Millersburg, Bonnie Stith and Diana Hisle, both of Cynthiana.

Services were this morning at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Virginia Petit, 80, of Latonia, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, Covington. Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.

Mildred Piper, 85, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a retired beautician and owner of M & M Beauty shop. Her husband, Albert Piper, died in 1960.

Survivors include three stepsons, Albert W. Piper of Burlington, Donald R. Piper of Tampa, Fla. and Richard P. Piper of Morrow, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Mae Hazel Thomson, 87, of Silver Grove, died at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Silver Grove.

Survivors include three children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Rita L. Weber, 76, of West Chester, Ohio, died Wednesday at West Chester Health Care Center. She was a retired foreman with U.S. Playing Card Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Marie Stines of Falmouth; and a brother, Edward Goehring of Yuba City, Calif.

Prayers will be at 11 a.m. Fri day at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Sand Run Baptist Cemetery, Hebron. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Florence Ice Webster, 78, of Florence, died at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a nurse with Booth and St. Luke hospitals, and a member of Greenview Baptist Church, Florence. Her husband, John Leslie Webster Sr., died in 1984.

Survivors include sons, David Webster of Villa Hills and John Leslie Webster Jr. of Cincinnati; daughters, Carolyn Ballinger of Florence and Brenda Nagashiner of Memphis, Tenn.; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Paul Hellmann of Florence fought fires for 28 years

Paul E. Hellmann dedicated 28 years of his life to fighting fires in his adopted town of Florence.

He is remembered by family and city officials alike as a good man who kept his city safe for 23 years as a volunteer and later as an assistant chief.

"He truly was a gentleman," Mayor Evelyn Kalb said. "He was just a very nice person."

Mr. Hellmann, 67, of Florence, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence.

Mr. Hellmann single-handedly raised six children since 1971, the year his wife, Theresa Ann Hellmann, died.

"He was a great dad. He was our sole parent. He took care of us all," his son, Steve Hellman of Edgewood, said.

Mr. Hellmann enjoyed woodworking, a hobby he passed onto his sons.

Don Roberts, retired fire chief, said Mr. Hellmann was an exceptional firefighter.

"He was in charge of training for many years and always did a very good job," Roberts said.

Mr. Hellman was also a building inspector for Florence. He was a member of St. Paul Church, Florence, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Other survivors include sons, Stan Hellman of Flor ence and Don Hellmann of Burlington; daughters, Paula Hellmann of Burlington, Jane Landrum of Florence, and Julie Lewis of Newport; brothers, Ron Hellmann of Edgewood, and Bernie Hellmann of Hermitage, Pa.; sisters, Mary Lee Atkins and Lu Ann Rassche, both of Covington, and 14 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Covington. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes. Association, 721 W. Main St., Suite 102, Louisville, Ky. 40202.

Gene D. Ayers, 62, of Newport, died Tuesday at his home.

He was a retired employee for General Motors.

Survivors include daughters, Kimberly D. Ridener of Will- iamsburg, Ohio, Tina Candella of West Chester, Ohio, and Terri Bettle of Milford, Ohio; a son, Clyde Roy of Georgetown, Ohio; sisters, Liddy Owens of Knoxville, Tenn., Martha Dickerson of Pulaski, Va., Flossie Walden of Pioneer, Tenn., and Rosa Walden of Newport.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Walters Funeral Home, LaFollette, Tenn., with visitation there from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and at Thompson-Stevens Funeral Home, Williamsburg, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Ayers Cemetery, LaFollette.

Susan A. O'Dowd Vance Collins, 83, of Highland Heights, died Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Kersten O'Day VFW Post No. 2899, Dayton.

Survivors include sons, Jack Vance of Maryland and Rocky Vance of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; daughters, Fran Felty of Bellevue and Suzzette Tucker of Newport; a stepson, Jimmy Collins of Cincinnati; and a stepdaughter, Helen Lightfoot of Dayton.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, with visitation from 6 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Milford, Ohio.

Arline E. Ginn, 86, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Benedict Church, Covington, and the women's auxiliary of St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Survivors include sons, Jack Edward Ginn of Morning View and Edward Lee Ginn of Erlanger; daughters, Virginia Conley of Independence; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Anna Lola Goodman, 93, of Cincinnati, formerly of Erlanger, died Wednesday at Twin Towers, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Christian Center, Park Hills.

Survivors include her husband, James R. Goodman Sr.; daughters, Margaret Collins of Erlanger and Donna Adrain Falzone of Denver; sons, Robert Goodman of Scottsdale, Ariz., James Goodman Jr. of Independence, Ival Goodman of Xenia, Ohio, and Howard Goodman of Atlanta; a sister, Elsie Carpenter of Florence; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at noon Monday at the church, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to the church. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Clarence Marvin King, 58, of Covington, died Nov. 4 in Michael Unit Prison System, Palestine, Texas . He was an Army veteran. Survivors include his sister, Ruth Maloney of Covington; and brothers, Jerry King of Covington, William King of Louisville, and Bob King of Cincinnati.

Survivors include sisters, Rosemary Miller and Nancy Wolke of Newport and Audrey Franxman of Covington; brothers, Lorimer Miller of Newport and Thomas Miller of Erlanger.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the church, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.
