GREENVILLE - Brenda Lois Allen Walden, 85, of 2105 State Route 973, Greenville, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at 9:20 a.m. at her home after a short illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Adairville the daughter of William Vester Allen and Sally Gertrude Rigsby Allen. She was a member of the Willow Glen Church of Christ in Powderly. She was a homemaker and housewife and was preceded in death by her husband, John William Walden in 1994; and a son, Wendell Walden.

She is survived by a son, Randol (Pat) Walden of North Judson, Ind.; four daughters, Peggy (Charles) Barton of McKenzie, Tenn., Marilyn (Jack) Stafford of West Palm Beach, Fla., Ann (Roger) Dukes of Greenville and Brenda (Barry) Norvell of Valparaiso, Ind.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Cobb of Adairville.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by Mr. Jimmie Jenkins. Committal services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Graceland cemetery in Valparaiso, Ind. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville.

Charles Johnson Jr.

Charles Johnson Jr., 70, of Owensboro died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Leisure Years Nursing Home.

Survivors include four sons, Roy Johnson, Gene Johnson, Michael Johnson and Charles Johnson; a daughter, Mary Rose Fitzgerald; three stepsons, Bradley, Bill and Larry Howard; and a stepdaughter, Edna Howard.

Services: Noon Friday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: Hensley cemetery near Garfield. Visitation: After 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Ernestine Hamilton Barr

Ernestine Barr died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at her home in Owensboro after a long illness. She was born in Daviess County on Dec. 25, 1930, to parents Ernest and Henrietta Hamilton, who preceded her in death. Her brothers, Patrick, Wilfred and Robert Hamilton, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Herman Barr; three brothers, Paul Hamilton of Madisonville and Lawrence and Frank Hamilton of Owensboro; and a sister, Margie Ashworth, also of Owensboro. Her life story is continued in three sons, Jim and his wife, Barbara Barr, David L. Barr and H. Joseph Barr, all of Owensboro; four daughters, Joanne and husband George Stephens and Barbara and husband Charlie Daugherty, all of Owensboro, Kay and husband Gary Montgomery of Lexington and Mary Lou and husband Harry Baumgarten IV of San Antonio; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ernestine was instrumental in the development of the Cursillo movement in Owensboro, an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro for more than 50 years and volunteered for many years in the RCIA and Landings programs. Her greatest joys were sharing and celebrating her Catholic faith and spending time with family and friends.

Herman and children invite you to share memories of Ernestine in visitation at James H. Davis Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 29, from 2 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice Association Inc. Her memorial Mass of resurrection will be celebrated at Blessed Mother Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Her final resting place will be at St. Anthony cemetery in Browns Valley.

Sandy Meador Peninger

IRVINGTON - Sandy Meador Peninger, 58, of Irvington died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. She was the former pastor of Big Spring Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Peninger; a son, Ryan Meador; and four sisters, Judy Groeble, Elaine Mitcham, Carol Rideout and Linda Pullen.

Services: 11 a.m. EST Monday at Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington. Burial: Louisville Memorial Gardens-West. Visitation: After 2 p.m. EST today at the funeral home.

Joseph Wirthwein

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Joseph Wirthwein, 50, of Rockport died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, from natural causes. Joe was born in Owensboro on March 22, 1954, to Wyman and Anna (Lampkins) Wirthwein. He was a coal equipment operator for American Electric Power in Rockport. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Harley Owner's Group, Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association and a former Boy Scout leader for Troop 205.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Patty; a son, Christopher Michael Wirthwein of Lafayette, Colo.; two daughters, Lori Michelle Detchon of Canton, Ohio, and Stephanie Lynn Wirthwein, at home; parents, Wyman and Anna Wirthwein of Rockport; and two sisters, Donna Kaye Wirthwein of Rockport and Maria Diane Ashworth of Hawesville.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, with Father Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday with a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. Monday at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Travis Spencer Avery

GREENVILLE - Travis Spencer Avery, 15, of Greenville died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville from injuries suffered in a car accident. He was a student at Muhlenberg South High School in Greenville and a member of Greater Lighthouse Church in Madisonville.

Survivors include his parents, Richard and Roselyn Avery; a brother, Thomas Avery; a sister, Tracy Avery; and his grandmother, Marie Hayes.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Rolling Gardens Family cemetery in Greenville. Visitation: After 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bobby Lee Baker

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Funeral services for Bobby Lee Baker, 44, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Brother Hillary Duke and Brother Tony Sullivan will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will follow in Salem cemetery.

Mr. Baker passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 4, 1959, in Bell County to his parents, Charles Baker and Sharon L. Elliott. He spent his working years as a musician.

He is survived by his parents; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Haney and husband, Terry, and Joyce LaFever and husband, Richard, both of Cookeville; his grandmother, Ethel Baker of Stanford; two aunts, Mary Joyce Gambrell and husband, Jackie, of Danville and Ester Gregory of Owensboro; an uncle, Pascal Baker and wife, Ann, of Detroit; and four nieces, Jennifer Haney, Ashley LaFever, Kyla LaFever and Becca LeFever, all of Cookeville. He is also survived by his beloved pet, Dusty Dog, in addition to many cousins and friends. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his grandmother, Edna Gambrell; and his aunt and uncle, Jackie and Coyet Dennison.

Crest Lawn Funeral Home, 800 W. Jackson St., Cookeville, TN 38501 is in charge of arrangements.

James 'Jim' Miller

James "Jim" Miller, 84, of Evansville passed away on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Columbia Health Care. James retired as a journeyman electrician at Whirlpool Corp. after 36 years of service. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and elder. James enjoyed fishing and beekeeping and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dean (Phillips) Miller of Evansville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Tina Miller of Port Orchard, Wash., and Don and Terri Miller of Evansville; a daughter, Barb Miller of Dale, Ind.; two brothers, Allan Miller of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bill Miller of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Vicky Miller, Christina Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jamie Perkins and her husband Anthony, Andrea Wilhelm and Carson Miller; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Kourtney; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, with the Rev. Peck Axton officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Browning Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 601 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Evansville, IN 47713.

Mary Elaine Payne Fulkerson

Mary Elaine Payne Fulkerson, 52, of The Oaks at Lewisport died there at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. She was born March 22, 1952, in Ohio County and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and enjoyed being with friends and family and shopping and helping other people. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Earl Payne and Virginia Simon Payne.

Survivors include three daughters, Tracy Fulkerson of Good Springs, Texas, and Carrie Fulkerson and Tina Fulkerson, both of Owensboro; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Earl Payne and his wife Della Payne of Philpot, John Dale Payne and his wife Annette of Knottsville, David Ricky Payne and his wife Sharon of Masonville; and a sister, Linda Jean Payne and her husband Carl of Reynolds Station.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at Haley-McGinnis.

Dora Mae Ridenour

FORT MEADE, Fla. - Dora Mae Ridenour, 65, of Fort Meade died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at her home. Dora Mae Messenger was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Livermore to Floyd L. and Thelma Mae Fielden Messenger and was later married to Vaden L. Ridenour. Dora Mae was a teacher's aide and assistant for the Polk County School Board in Florida and a member of the First Church of God in Fort Meade.

Survivors include her husband, Vaden L. Ridenour; three daughters, Leslie Jayne Douglass of Carriere, Miss., and Linda Mae Knight and Carolyn Sue Forbes, both of Fort Meade; a grandson, James R. "Jamie" Knight III of Fort Meade; a granddaughter, Megan N. Douglass of Carriere; a sister, Joyce Riley of Livermore; and an uncle, R.M. "Tarzan" Fielden of Livermore.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Richland Baptist cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Ridenour family from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel.

The Ridenour family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Good Shepherd Hospice, P.O. Box 7129, Winter Haven, FL 33880. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.

Shirley Gibson
01/2004/2005

GREENVILLE - Shirley Gibson, 64, of 100 Pritchett Drive, Greenville, died at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Fla. She was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Muhlenberg County. She was a retired nurse from Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen.

Survivors include a daughter, Candace Roos of Port Orange, Fla.; a granddaughter, Jordan Sheets of Port Orange; a sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Wesley Nelson of Central City; a niece, Kim Krill of Hobart, Ind.; and a nephew, Michael Nelson of Hobart.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
