Benjamin F. Shacklett

DONELSON, Tenn. - Benjamin F. Shacklett, age 71, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004. Mr. Shacklett was retired from American Airlines after 41 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Shacklett, sons, David Shacklett (Dorinda), Roger Shacklett (Lisa) and Alan Shacklett; and grandchildren, Stacey, Ashley, Brandon, Shelby and Clark Shacklett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Dodd officiating. Interment will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be employees and retirees of American Airline Fleet Services. Visitation with the family is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, Tenn.

Amy Mae Thompson Neubauer

Amy Mae Thompson Neubauer, 75, of Owensboro died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at her home. Born Jan. 12, 1929, to the late Emmitt and Clara Morris Thompson, Mrs. Neubauer was a homemaker and member of Third Baptist Church. She will be fondly remembered for her desire to help other people and her love of the outdoors and animals. Mrs. Neubauer was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred L. Neubauer Sr., in 1983; and a sister, Lucille Peak, in 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Eldred L. Neubauer Jr. and George Neubauer, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Gayla Freer of Reynolds Station and Nancy Hume of Danville, Ind.; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene Thompson of Robinson, Ill., and Tilford Thompson of Pleasant Ridge.

Funeral services are at noon Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mission Fund, Third Baptist Church, P.O. Box 808, Owensboro, KY 42302-0808 or Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Anita Reisz McNulty

Anita Reisz McNulty, 88, of 4301 Medley Road, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Sept. 13, 1916, in Daviess County. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Precious Blood Women's Club and a Kentucky Colonel. She took great pride in her family, gardening, sewing and nature and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Rosa Fischer Reisz; her husband, Martin McNulty, on Feb. 14, 1991; a daughter, Jeanne Marie; a son, James Anthony McNulty; a grandson, Jay Michael McNulty; and a grandson, David Allen McNulty.

She is survived by seven sons, Marty McNulty and wife, Trudy, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dan McNulty of Owensboro, John McNulty and wife, Frankie, of Owensboro, Pat McNulty and wife, Donna, of Owensboro, Mike McNulty and wife, Bennie, of St. Petersburg, William A. McNulty and wife, Diana, of St. Petersburg and David McNulty and wife, Renee, of Owensboro; seven daughters, Rosemary Payne and husband, Bill, of Owensboro, Anna Ruth Lyon and husband, Danny, of Parrish, Fla., Helen Shull and husband, Mike, of Leitchfield, Martha Mancinelli and husband, John, of Bowling Green, Rachel Higdon and husband, Leon, of Owensboro, Margaret Anita Jackson and husband, Dave, of Westmont, Ill., and Mary Ann Drexler and husband, Steve, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Bettye Reisz Riney of Owensboro; 36 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery, with Father Brad Whistle officiating. Contributions may take the form of donations to Precious Blood Catholic Church or Owensboro Catholic School System.

Donald R. 'Duck' Barnett

HAWESVILLE - Donald R. "Duck" Barnett, 55, of Hawesville died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Tell City, Ind. He was the son of the late Thomas and Bernice Barnett. He was a member of Blackford Baptist Church. He retired from Commonwealth Aluminum and enjoyed NASCAR races, playing pool, UK basketball and cooking out. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Barnett, Earl Barnett and J.W. Barnett; and a sister, Edith Wells.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Judy Barnett; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Rick Gray of Tell City; a son, Bryan Barnett of Hawesville; and grandchildren, Beth Gray, Zoey and B.J. Barnett. He is also survived by two sisters, Margie Finley of Deanfield and Nancy Finley of Whitesville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Blackford Baptist Church cemetery in Hancock County. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Donald Barnett Memorial Fund.

Clayton Eugene Middleton

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Clayton Eugene Middleton, 70, of Rockport went to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health Systems, surrounded by family and friends. Clayton was born on Dec. 25, 1933, to the late Ely Clay and Fannie Alice (Rudisill) Middleton. He was a veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Army and earned the sharpshooter, good conduct, 2nd class gunner and marksman's metals. He was self-employed as a mechanic at Middleton's Garage in Reo, Ind. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved camping, working on automobiles, talking on his CB, spending time with family and friends and playing with his dog, Kiki. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Norma Jean Middleton; a sister, Clayda Mae Middleton, a brother, James Edward Middleton; and a sister, Maxine Helmeridge.

Surviving are his three daughters, Pam Alvey and husband, Billy, of Rockport, Vickie Shourds and husband, Larry, of Rockport and Lisa Jackson and husband, Allen Jr., of Patronville, Ind.; three brothers, Mike Middleton of Grandview, Ind., Ely Clay Middleton Jr. of Rockport and Richard Middleton of Grandview; three sisters, Peggy Ann Huff West of Long Beach, Calif., Barbara Ryan of Rockport and Sara Eply of Hawesville; six grandchildren, Corey Alvey and wife, Donna, of Grandview, Candice Smith and husband, Chris, of Rockport, Ashley Shourds of Rockport, Stephanie Sandage and husband, Jon, of Grandview and Shon Shourds and Kristi Alvey of Rockport; and a great-grandchild, Jon Sandage Jr. of Grandview.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Walter Phillips officiating. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield, with American Legion Post No. 254 conducting military rites. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Christian Center or Visiting Nurses Association in Tell City.

Sister Charles Ann DeNardi

MAPLE MOUNT - Sister Charles Ann DeNardi, OSU, 92, an Ursuline sister of Mount St. Joseph, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Mount St. Joseph in her 74th year of religious life. A native of St. Mary, she was an educator for 43 years. She taught at St. William, Knottsville (1957-1959) and St. Alphonsus, St. Joseph (1959-1960). She also taught in many schools in the Louisville Archdiocese, in New Mexico and in Missouri. For 13 years she served in outreach ministry in Louisville.

Survivors include a brother, the Rev. Charles DeNardi of Owensboro; nieces and nephews; and the members of her religious community.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Mount St. Joseph, where visitation will begin Sunday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m. Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements. Gifts in memory of Sister Charles Ann DeNardi may take the form of donations to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, KY 42356.

James Clyde Robinson

James Clyde Robinson, 90, of 1035 Standish Place North, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. A native of Daviess County, Mr. Robinson was the son of the late Ernis L. and Nellie Bell Robinson and was retired from the oil business, having begun his career with the former F.M. Ashby Drilling Co., and served as a mines and minerals inspector for the state of Kentucky. At the time of his retirement he was vice president of Hercules Petroleum. A member of First Baptist Church, he was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a radar instructor. His wife, Mary Ruth Frank Robinson, preceded him in death in 1986.

Survivors include his son, James Dennis "Jack" Robinson and his wife, Tammy, of Owensboro; his grandsons, James Dennis Robinson II and his wife, Shelley, of Utica, Ohio, John Christian Robinson, Joseph Patrick Robinson, Connor Garrett Robinson and Steven Lee Robinson, all of Owensboro; and his sister, Margaret Ashby Blackstone of Owensboro.

A private service will be officiated by Dr. David Nelson. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children, 10200 Linn Station Road, Louisville, KY 40223. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Jean Potts Mouré

Dorothy Jean Potts Mouré, 76, of 3639 Placid Place West, Owensboro, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at her home. She was born Jan. 8, 1928, to the late Earl and Margaret Mehling Potts in Daviess County. She worked in the Daviess County Circuit Court Clerk's office in the drivers license renewal office. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was an avid bird lover. She valued education and God's role in our lives. She loved classical music and attending concerts. She treasured her family and friends and saw the humor in everyday life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Reinardo "Pat" Mouré, USAF, who died Sept. 14, 1962; and by a daughter, Diana Jean Mouré in May 1951.

Survivors include one daughter, Marianne Jones and her husband, Ray, of Owensboro; and four grandchildren, Matthew Jones of Louisville, Stephen Jones who is serving in the United States Navy, and Jennifer Jones and Timothy Jones of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Arlington National cemetery on Dec. 27, 2004, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home, with prayers at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles Raymond 'Barney' Barnett

Charles Raymond "Barney" Barnett, 76, of 1614 W. Parrish Ave., Owensboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Hermitage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born May 17, 1928, to the late Archie Rogg Barnett and Martha Ray Barnett. He retired from the maintenance department of Swedish Match. He was a member of Karns Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed stock car racing, gardening, antique tractors, hunting, fishing and liked barbecuing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margie Raymond Barnett, on March 25, 1990; his stepmother, Cliffie Barnett, in 1988; a sister, Beulah Jewell; two brothers, James W. Barnett and James Franklin Decker; and a son, Charles Barnett Jr.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Helen Harris; his beloved son, Charles Richard Edgell of Hartford; his beloved daughter, Mary Carolyn Barnett of Dacula, Ga.; eight beloved grandchildren, Ricky Lee Edgell, Mary McCrystal, Charlene Downing, Jacqueline Calhoun, Carolyn Hall, Connie Martin, James Steven Barnett and Mary Stanley; 20 beloved great-grandchildren; two beloved great-great-grandchildren; a beloved brother, Homer Ray of Owensboro; two beloved sisters, Nancy Ray Miller of Nashville and Catherine Moore of Evansville; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in South Hampton Baptist Church cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James Darrell Abell

James Darrell Abell, 68, of 6101 Old Highway 54, Philpot, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the home of his daughter. He retired from S.W. Anderson Department Store. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, K of C Chapter 2046 Whitesville, 3rd Degree, Daviess County Lions Club and he was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Abell; his parents, Lloyd and Bessie Cooper Abell; his daughter, Becky Conder; his brother, Carl Abell; and his sister, Maxine Rhodes.

Mr. Abell is survived by one son, Glenn Abell and wife Laquita of Owensboro; two daughters, Debbie Embry and husband Bob of Owensboro and Patty Hines and husband Bobby of Philpot; four brothers, Robert H. (Dugger) Abell of Whitesville, William R. Abell of Fordsville, Kenneth Abell of Louisville and Donnie Abell of Bluff, Ill.; one sister, Shirley Coomes of Louisville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at noon Friday, Dec. 3, 2004. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home with prayers at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.

Jim Moore

McDANIELS - Jim Moore, 66, of McDaniels died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. He retired from Willamette Industries and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Moore; a daughter, Cindy Scott; and three sons, Andy Moore, Jimmy Davidson and Joe Davidson.

Services: Noon Monday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Visitation: From 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Cave Spring cemetery near Westview.
