BROWDER - Gloria Jean Randolph, 52, of P.O. Box 135, Browder, died at 7:57 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born March 13, 1953, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a companion, Jerry D. Jones of Browder; a son, Brian and wife, Candie Randolph, of Browder; her mother, Gladys Stevens of Central City; a sister, Dovie and husband, Bunkie Fleming, of Browder; two brothers, Larry and wife, Karen Stevens, of Browder and Ray Stevens of Greenville; two nephews; and four nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maud Wilma Ambrose
05/2004/2005

Maud Wilma Ambrose, 83, of Philpot died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. She was born on Sept. 29, 1921, to the late Ivan and Edith Cook Riddle in Daviess County. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Ambrose, on April 25, 1985; and an infant brother, Charles Riddle.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Jerry and Paula Ambrose, Nickey and Debra Ambrose, and Gary and Jeannie Ambrose, all of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Kora Eileen and Terry Tanner of Philpot; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Friendship cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jamnaben P. Patel

PRINCETON, Ind. - Jamnaben P. Patel, 89, of Princeton passed away Monday, April 25, 2005, at her son, Dr. Ramesh Patel's, home in Princeton. She was born in India on Oct. 14, 1915. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Prabhubhai Patel; a daughter, Kamala C. Patel; two brothers; and an older sister.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Raman P. and Nirmala R. Patel of Petersburg, Va., and Dr. Ramesh P. and Sangita R. Patel of Princeton; a daughter and son-in-law, Madhu R. and Raman R. Patel of Buffalo, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Chhagan Patel of India; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Cremation will follow on Saturday.

Susie Fentress Stinnett

HARDINSBURG - Susie Fentress Stinnett, 48, of Hardinsburg died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She worked at The Farmers Bank and was a member of Harned United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Breanna Lane; her mother and stepfather, Ollie and Mitchell Armes; a sister, Judy Tabeling; two brothers, David Ramsey and Timmy Fentress; four stepsisters, Carolyn Butler, Linda Butler, Susie Harper and Lorraine Bickett; and a stepbrother, Mike Armes.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Harned United Methodist Church. Burial: Kingswood cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Friday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions: Relay for Life.

Lois Marie Johnson

Lois Marie Johnson, 62, of 6740 Foster Road, Philpot, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at her home. She was born in Henderson County to the late Joseph Lambert and Rita Margaret Mackey Schwartz. She had previously worked in the catalog sales department at J.C. Penney Co. and enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church and the Morning Star Homemakers Club. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph S. Johnson, on Feb. 19, 2005; a grandson, Joseph Matthew Johnson, on Sept. 7, 1989; and two sisters, Lamberta Mills, in 1979, and Mary Louise Schwartz, in 1941.

Surviving is her husband of 41 years, Joseph T. "Tim" Johnson; a son, Kevin and wife, Andrea Johnson, of Owensboro; a daughter, Sheri and husband, John Ruth, of Philpot; a daughter-in-law, Michelle "Shelly" Johnson of Philpot; four grandchildren, Lindsey and Chad Johnson and Kelsey and Jenna Ruth; two sisters, Lila Watson of Henderson and Maxine and husband, Bobby Smith, of Owensboro; four brothers, Joseph E. and wife, Pat Schwartz, Leo and wife, Cindy Schwartz, and Larry and wife, Sherry Schwartz, all of Owensboro, and Bobby and wife, Linda Schwartz, of Utica; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 29, at St. William Catholic Church, with burial in St. Lawrence cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, with prayers said at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Richard N. Beauchamp

LOUISVILLE - Richard N. Beauchamp, 78, of Louisville, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in Louisville. He was a native of Beech Creek in Logan County. He was a retired assignment manager with South Central Bell and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Lee (McGill) Beauchamp of Louisville; two sons, Richard N. Beauchamp II and J. Kelly Beauchamp; four daughters, Patsy Beauchamp of Green Bay, Wis., Amanda Jo St. John of Jacksonville, Fla., Joy McIntosh and Jennifer Martin; a brother, Joe Beauchamp of Bowling Green; and a sister, Ella Hall Lockery of Bowling Green. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, in Louisville. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Louisville. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may go to Hospice of Louisville.

Harold Edwin Bailey

Harold Edwin Bailey, 99, of 2329 Bittel Road passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He had been a petroleum producer, a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Sigma Chi at Ohio State University and a lifetime member of Kentucky Oil and Gas Association. His parents, Joshua and Mary Fisher Bailey, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Adell Bowman Bailey; a son, Harold B. Bailey of Owensboro; a daughter, Mary Phoebe Athey of Owensboro; and a granddaughter, Laura Ann Bailey of Owensboro.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Sunday. Burial will be in Worthington Chapel cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.

Bobby C. Downing

ALBION, Ill. - Bobby C. Downing, 71, of Albion passed away Monday, April 25, 2005, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Born and raised in McLean and Daviess counties, Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps before attending Western Kentucky University, where he graduated with his bachelor's, master's and Rank I degrees. Bob spent most of his adult life in Louisville with the Jefferson County Public School System as a teacher and counselor. He tirelessly devoted his life to the interests of children.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Robin of Maryland; a stepson, Jason of Indiana; a special "son," Scott and family of Illinois; and his longtime feline companions.

According to Bob's wishes, his body will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Ziemer Funeral Home, Central Chapel, 626 First Ave., Evansville. Memorial contributions may be made to a local Humane Society.

Minnie Colwell

BEAVER DAM - Minnie Colwell, 74, of McHenry died Monday, April 25, 2005, at her home. She was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Hazard to Arthur and Viola Hamlin Campbell. She was a homemaker and member of Oak Grove Church of God near Cromwell. She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Colwell and Ronald Colwell; and a daughter, Wanda Colwell.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Colwell of McHenry; a son, Jimmie Colwell of Beaver Dam; a daughter, Debra McIntyre of Beaver Dam; three brothers, Eugene Campbell of North Vernon, Ind., Arthur Jr. Campbell of Bulan and James Campbell of Pikeville; six sisters, Margaret Morgan of Beaver Dam, Curtis Wooten of Austin, Ind., Carolyn Moore of Hazard, Donna Miller and Brenda Carmody, both of Hindman, and Vickie Bailey of Leeburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Danny Colwell, Carrie Colwell, Kanaan McIntyre and Katie McIntyre; and three great-grandchildren, Dustin Colwell, Kaleigh Colwell and Cameron Colwell.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Steve Leach officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial cemetery in McHenry. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lillian Jones Leach Allen

CROMWELL - Lillian Jones Leach Allen, 78, of Cromwell died Tuesday, May 3, 2005. She retired as a nursing home nurse's aide.

Survivors include six sons, Gene Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, Randy Wilson, Bill Bradley Wilson, Paul Wilson and Ricky Wilson Lawrence; and four daughters, Judy Freeman, Phyllis Rosebush, Mary Lou Ball and Joanna Bush.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Harry L. 'Bud' Ballard

Harry L. "Bud" Ballard, 76, of 4533 Loftwood Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Wavco, W.Va., on July 7, 1928, to the late Harry L. and Garnet (Larabee) Ballard. He retired after 21 years of employment with National Southwire Aluminum Co. and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Owensboro Country Club and was an avid hunter and loved his beagles.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth Ann Ballard; a sister, Jean Prather of Charleston, W.Va.; two nephews, Charles McCormick and Edward McCormick; and two nieces, Renee Larrick and Deborah Prather Lambert.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Daviess County Diabetes Coalition, P.O. Box 309, Owensboro, KY 42302-0309.

Jerry G. Willoughby

ISLAND - Jerry G. Willoughby, 68, of Island died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at his home. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Livermore General Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Jeri Ann Willoughby, Sherri Taylor and Marla Willoughby; four brothers, Terry E. Willoughby, Don L. Willoughby, Edward D. Willoughby and Phillip W. Willoughby; and two sisters, Reva Schneider and Becky Thomas.
