Ramona Bailey, Bible College student

Ramona Jean Bailey had been looking forward to coming home for the holidays to visit with her mother and grandmother. Sadly, it wasn't to be.

Miss Bailey, 19, of Taylorsville, formerly of Covington, died Friday morning in an auto accident in Taylorsville.

"I haven't been told much about the accident, but I understand she was alone after taking a friend to work. I think the weather conditions had something to do with it," said Miss Bailey's mother, Linda Bailey.

Miss Bailey was a second- year student at Louisville Bible College, where she commuted daily, her mother said. "She wanted to be a ministerial counselor," said Mrs. Bailey.

Her daughter enjoyed school and also belonged to a church in the Taylorsville area, said Mrs. Bailey.

"She went to Covington Holmes High School for a couple of years, and graduated from Highview Baptist School in Louisville in May 1996," said Miss Bailey's mother.

"She went to grade school at John G. Carlisle School in Covington, and was a member of Main Street Methodist Church. She still had friends here," said Mrs. Bailey.

"I just talked to her on the phone Wednesday. She wanted to come up here at Christmas, to spend a day or two with her grandmother, and a day or two with me," said Mrs. Bailey.

"She was especially close to her aunt, Pat Baumgartner of Florence. A lot of people thought they looked alike," Mrs. Bailey said.

Miss Bailey liked bowling and movies, and she especially loved pets. "She had a puppy, but I think she had to give it away when it got too big. She brought it up here last summer to show it to me," said Mrs. Bailey.
