Lucian S. Tichenor

CENTERTOWN - Lucian S. Tichenor, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at his home. He was born in Ohio County, was a retired farmer, worked construction for Peabody Coal Co. and was a 50-year member of Centertown United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn H. Tichenor on Dec. 3, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Tichenor of Bowling Green and Myron S. Tichenor of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Centertown. Burial will follow at Centertown cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday.

Theodore M. 'Ted' Hamilton
11/2005/2004

GRANDVIEW, Ind. - Theordore M. "Ted" Hamilton, 72, of Grandview died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

Ted was born in Owensboro on Feb. 26, 1932, to the late Oscar and Clara (Wilson) Hamilton. He was an assembler for Whirlpool and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Hamilton in 1985; and a brother, Randall Hamilton in 1997.

Surviving are a son, Tony Hamilton of Rockport, Ind.; three daughters, Terri Payton and Paula Wells both of Rockport, and Sarah Harris of Beach Grove; two brothers, Martin and M. Wayne Hamilton both of Owensboro; three sisters, Ann Havener of Rockport, Alma Glenn and Mary Wade both of Owensboro; and nine grandchildren.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport with Father Ed Schnur officiating. Burial in Sunset Hill cemetery where American Legion Post No. 254 will conduct military rites.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. till time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockport Public Library.

James Clifton Davison Jr.
11/2005/2004

CENTRAL CITY - James Clifton Davison Jr., 81, of 810 Pittman St., Central City died at 4:27 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at his home. He was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Louisville and was a retired pipe fitter from Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member of Green River Chapel General Baptist Church in Central City and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his son, James Davison III of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; daughters, Geneva McRee of Island and Mary Wiles of Central City; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Davison; and a daughter, Nancy Davison Arnett.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Jewell Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home.

Lucille Norris Barger

Lucille Norris Barger, 88, of 406 W. Legion Blvd., Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Daviess County to the late Ernest and Bena Moser Norris. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church, where she attended Pioneer Sunday school class.

Surviving is her husband of 60 years, J. Randall Barger; a son, Michael Norris Barger of Kentucky Lake; two daughters, Randalyn Jean Barger of Falls of Rough and Susan Carol Mayes of Roy, Utah; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burn Center of Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.

Willard Byron Carrico

Willard Byron Carrico, 53, of 3745 Legacy Run, Owensboro, died Nov. 1, 2004, at his home. He was a senior design engineer at Texas Gas Corp. for more than 26 years. He previously was employed by Owensboro City Engineering Department. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed NASCAR. Mr. Carrico was preceded in death by his father, Robert O. Carrico, in 1973; and a brother, Bruce Carrico, in 1984.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma Carrico of Owensboro; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert David and Janetta Carrico of Owensboro; a nephew, Jason Carrico; a stepniece, Natasha Jones; uncles Willard Tucker and Bobby Tucker; and aunts Henrietta Carrico and Ella Mae Donovan, all of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 5, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery.

Helen L. 'Shain' Gillaspie

Helen L. "Shain" Gillaspie, 77, of Utica died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the home of her daughter. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Her father, Carson Shain; her mother, Mary Shain; a brother, James E. Shain; and a sister, Irene Shain, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William L. "Bill" Gillaspie; six sons, Charles Gillaspie and his wife, Shirley, Robert Gillaspie and his wife, Paula, Ray Gillaspie and his wife, Ruth, Larry Gillaspie and his wife, Teresa, Willie Gillaspie, and Jimmy Gillaspie and his wife, Beverly, all of Owensboro; and four daughters, Judy Hagan and her husband, Barry, Julie Mitchell and her husband, Bill, Nancy Bolton and her husband, Bill, and Mary Cooney, all of Owensboro. She also had a special person in her life who was just like a daughter, Rita Anderson. Mrs. Gillaspie is also survived by 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a sister, Zona Bandy of Owensboro; three brothers, Alton Shain of Owensboro, William "Bill" Shain of Utica and Andrew Shain of Hobart, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Diabetes Association or American Kidney Foundation.

Terry Johnson Gold

GREENVILLE - Terry Johnson Gold, 68, of 215 Highland Drive, Greenville, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 26, 1936, in Evansville, the son of James Vaughn Gold and Verna Mae Johnson Gold Butler. He graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in 1955 and was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1958 to 1963. He retired from Tennessee Valley Authority in 1992 after 29 years working in the service shop turbine group as a supervisor. He was a private contractor for TVA Turbine Group from 1992 to 2004. He belong to the Machinist Local No. 2244 and served as president and union steward. He was a member of the Kentucky Colonels and the Kentucky Bikers Association since it was founded in 1999. He was also a member of H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) for 11 years. He had been riding motorcycles since 1951 and his first Harley-Davidson was a 1948 model. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville, by the Rev. Jerry Winters. Burial will be held in Rose Hill cemetery in Newburgh, Ind., at 2 p.m. Friday.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois J. Powell Gold of Greenville; a son, Jimmy Gold of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Tim Chappell of Greenville; three granddaughters, Brittany Gold, Woody Gold and Haley Chappell, all of Greenville; a stepgranddaughter, Catherine Mason Vincent of Greenville; and a stepgrandson, Jaxson Hunter Vincent of Greenville.

Friends may call today, Nov. 4, after 5 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.

Virginia L. Groves

TELL CITY, Ind. - Virginia L. Groves, 83, of Livingston, N.J., formerly of Tell City and Owensboro, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Inglemoor Care Center. Virginia was born on Feb. 21, 1921, in Cannelton, Ind., the daughter of the late William C. and Dorathea (Hermann) Lehman. She was a graduate of Cannelton High School and a former member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City and Zion United Church of Christ in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney K. Groves, in 1991; and a brother, William Lehman, in 1937.

Virginia is survived by a daughter, Dr. Anne G. Nepo of Glen Ridge, N.J.; and a sister, Dorathea Ferrara of Bethesda, Md.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. EST at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. EST until service time at Huber Funeral Home, located at 1139 12th St., Tell City. The Rev. Lee Brown will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ in Owensboro or The Valerie Fund, 2101 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, N.J., 07040.

John Truman 'J.T.' Whitaker

John Truman "J.T." Whitaker, 83, of Owensboro died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born April 26, 1921, in Daviess County to the late Margaret and Jay Whitaker. He was the owner of the Rolling Pin Pastry Shop for 37 years, retiring in 1983, a member of the Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of the Live Wire Bible class, where he served in several offices and a Navy veteran of World War II. John was also a member of American Legion Post 9 and TPA Post G and a former member of Moose and Eagle lodges, a Kentucky Colonel and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. A daughter, Jackie Aubrey; and two sisters, Sally Byrd and Billie Jagoe, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Edith Whitaker; a son, John David and his wife, Debbie, Whitaker of Owensboro; and three daughters, Mary Ann Stinebruner of Louisville, Janie and her husband, Bob Carrico, of Knottsville and Kathy and her husband, Roger Farmer, of Owensboro; and a sister, Hazel Young of Panther. Grandchildren include Bill Clark Jr., Lisa (Todd) Brown and Brian Payne of Louisville, Blake (Colleen) Payne of Richmond, Jennifer Fischer of Winchester, Nathan (Rachel) Whitaker of Lexington, Phillip Aubrey, Nick, Travis and Katie Whitaker, and Leslie and Gregory Farmer, all of Owensboro. Great-grandchildren include Damien Cox and Ambria Gaus, both of Louisville.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and after noon Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to HELP Office Mission, c/o Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 910 Booth Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Lucille Frymire Bailey

CENTRAL CITY - Lucille Frymire Bailey, 97, of 508 Broad St., Central City, died 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Belle Meade Home in Greenville. She was born April 7, 1907, in Livingston County. She was a member of Grand Rivers Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Randolph Frymire, and her second husband, Marshall Bailey.

Survivors include a son, Randolph Frymire of Highland, Calif.; two daughters, Hazel Wade of Central City and Margaret Camp of Paducah; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after noon Thursday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.
