BEAVER DAM - George A. Bartley, 75, of Beaver Dam died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at his home. He retired from Pratt-Whitney in East Hartford, Conn., and was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Bartley; two sons, Brian Gregory Bartley and Barry Dean Bartley; a brother, Billy Clyde Bartley; and a sister, Margaret Cotton.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of arrangements.

Levenia Johnson Adkins

Levenia Johnson Adkins, 89, of 2420 W. Third St., Owensboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born May 26, 1916, in Hancock County to the late James Andrew and Birdie (Johnson) Kennedy. She was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated Adkins Grocery Stores in Hawesville and Hardinsburg. She was a devoted wife and mother who touched the lives of many people. Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro has been her home for the past nine years. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Bon Harbor and its caring staff for their excellent care and attention. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ivory L. Adkins, in 1981; and by sisters Jessie Mae Robinson, Natella Bolin and Beatrice Heifner; and two brothers, Reed Kennedy and James K. Kennedy Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila and her husband Dr. Lisle Wayne II of Evansville; two grandchildren, Todd Wayne of Lubbock, Texas, and Kyle Wayne of Bloomington, Ind.; a brother, Eugene and his wife Stewarty Kennedy of Owensboro; a sister, Carnell Linehan of Owensboro; nephews Joseph Kennedy Bolin of Chesterfield, Ind., James K. Kennedy Jr. and Allen E. Kennedy, both of Hawesville; nieces Dorothy Young Lucas of Louisville, Guin Robinson Clifton of Birmingham, Ala., Sondra Kennedy Powers of Simpsonville, Marilyn Kennedy of Owensboro and Lisa J. Kennedy of Louisville.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Lewis Lane Baptist Church, 2600 Lewis Lane, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Anthony F. 'Tony' Dunn

Anthony F. "Tony" Dunn, 81, of 678 Ridgewood St., Owensboro, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at his home. He was born in Baltimore County, Md., to the late William and Mary (Fink) Dunn. He was retired from G.H. Steel Co. after 40 years. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved fishing and playing tonk with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. Dunn, on Feb. 26, 2003; and by a great-grandson, Tipton Lynn Lawson Finley, on June 29, 2005.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathern and Antionette Dunn and their half brother, Bobby Combs, all of Baltimore; six stepsons, Joe Colburn of Owensboro, Robert Colburn of Warren, Mich., Mike Colburn of Elkton, Steve Colburn of Winston-Salem, N.C., Gary Colburn of Henderson and Bryan Colburn of Hartford; two stepdaughters, Jean Payne of Owensboro and Shelia Short of Philpot; 18 stepgrandchildren; 28 stepgreat-grandchildren; a half brother, Pat Kelley of Baltimore; and a half sister, Margaret William of Delaware.

Services are at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at James H Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Steven Wayne Gilmore

EVANSVILLE - Steven Wayne Gilmore, 44, of Evansville, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at his home. He was born on Jan. 31, 1961, in Owensboro. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed restoring old cars. He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Gilmore, on Feb. 17, 1994.

He is survived by a son, Steven Wayne Gilmore II of Hartford; a daughter, Stephanie Gilmore of Utica; his mother and stepfather, Mary Gilmore Thomason and Lonnie Thomason of Henderson; four grandchildren, Stephen Dylan Mayfield, Alexas Marie Snell, Steven Wayne Gilmore III and Austen Kyle Gilmore; two brothers, Alfred (Julie) Gilmore of Owensboro and Robert E. (Pamela) Gilmore of Waverly; a half sister, Patty Thrasher of Knottsville; several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Ron Whitman; and a very dear friend, Doris Parrish of Evansville.

Services are at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept., 9, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after noon Friday at the funeral home.

Roger Dale Baize

McHENRY - Roger Dale Baize, 59, of McHenry died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, in Hartford. He retired from Peabody Coal Co., Homestead Mine, as a coal miner, attended Morgantown Community Church and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors two sons, Mark Baize and Chris Baize; a daughter, Brittany Baize; three brothers, Ricky Baize, Mickey Baize and Larry Baize; and a sister, Henrietta Baize.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Fisher cemetery in McHenry. Visitation: From 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Vondel Ray Trogdon

Vondel Ray Trogdon, 68, of Whitesville passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Vondel worked as a driller in the oil fields and retired from Trogdon Welding Service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, various outdoor activities and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene Trogdon.

Survivors include his mother, Icie Emma Trogdon; a brother, Jim Trogdon; a son, Curtis Ray Trogdon of Florida; three daughters, Vohnell Ferrell, Sherry Trogdon Estes and Teresa Duke, all of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, LaVohn Crabtree, Michelle Timbrook, Blake Trogdon, Kyle Trogdon, Tyson Trogdon, Sasha Duke, Billy Duke and Dylan Trogdon; and two great-grandchildren, Gage Crabtree and Madlyn Crabtree.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Cates cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Red Cross.

Dana Lou Wilkins

GRAHAM - Dana Lou Wilkins, 68, of 4372 Kentucky 175 South, Graham, died at 2:54 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born April 9, 1937, in Weatland, Ind. She was a homemaker and member of East Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruth Littlejohn; and a sister, Earlena Littlejohn.

Survivors include her husband, Arch Wilkins Jr. of Graham; three sons, Jeff (Debbie) Wilkins of Greenville, B.J. (Darlene) Westfall of Belton and David Wilkins of Picket, Wis.; two daughters, Teresa (David) Puryear of Greenville and Valerie (Steve) Morris of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, David Littlejohn of Valparaiso, Ind.; and a sister, Sharon Bethel of Nebo.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Willard Watson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 7, at the funeral home.

Glen Belcher

MORGANTOWN - Glen Belcher, 84, of Owensboro died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He retired from Peabody Coal Co. and was a World War II veteran and member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Kenny Belcher; a stepson, Troy L. Givens; a brother, Paul Belcher; and three sisters, Joyce Garrison, Dean Martin and Ina Brockman.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: After 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret Atkinson Wilson

Margaret Atkinson Wilson, 92, of One Park Place, Owensboro, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005. She was born on June 26, 1913, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late William Edward Atkinson and Florence Utter Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Richard "Bullet" Wilson, former head coach, athletic director and professor of physical education at Kentucky Wesleyan College. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and formerly worked at Central Bank and Trust Co. and Owensboro National Bank. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Edward Atkinson Jr., Charles Allen Atkinson and Thomas Utter Atkinson; and two sisters, Virginia Whitlow and Mary Lee.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, R. Allen and Beulah Wilson and William B. and Nancy Wilson; five grandchildren, Melissa Jane Buckner (Zach) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Robert Allen Wilson Jr. (Stephanie) of Atlanta, and William Shane Wilson (Barbara), Wade Richard Wilson and Jessica Lee Wilson, all of Owensboro; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary Buckner and Robert Wilson Buckner of Myrtle Beach, Price Robert Wilson and Bennett Allen Wilson of Atlanta and William Hayden Wilson of Owensboro.

Services are private and will be held at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Kentucky Wesleyan College and the Robert "Bullet" Wilson Football Field. James H. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lanny D. Falls

NEWBURGH, Ind. - Lanny D. Falls, 52, of Newburgh passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn. Lanny was a 1971 graduate of Daviess County High School, where he played basketball, and he later graduated from Principia Collage in Elsah, Ill., in 1975. Lanny was national sales manager for Escalade Sports and attended Crossroads Christian Church. He was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club and was an avid golfer and tennis player. Lanny was a devoted father and enjoyed his daughters' athletic events.

Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Julie A. Falls; two daughters, Lauren and Lindsey Falls, both of Newburgh; his mother, Louise Falls of Gallatin, Tenn.; and two sisters, Nancy Kling of Gallatin and Susan Scoonover of Knoxville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Falls.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., with his nephews, Jason Roberson and Aaron Leet, officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Castle High School or Signature School for a scholarship fund.

Debbie Ann Hillerich

BEAVER DAM - Debbie Ann Hillerich, 42, of Beaver Dam died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

Survivors include her parents, Ray and Carolyn Henson of Beaver Dam; two brothers, James Sacerich of Gary, Ind., and Chris Berry and his wife, Robin, of Beaver Dam; a sister, Kim Upchurch and her husband, Greg, of Beaver Dam; three nephews, Christopher, Colton and Colby Berry; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio County Resources for the Disabled, c/o Frank Aubrey, 101 McCreary Court, Apt. 304, Hartford, KY 42347. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
