ATHENS, Tenn. - Billy Lynn Miller, infant son of David and Christie Francis Miller of Athens, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at the Athens Regional Medical Center.
Survivors also include his grandparents, Billy Joe and Judy Francis of Dana, Ind., and Jerry and Myra Miller of Owensboro; and great-grandparents, Frances Francis of Dana, Mary Myers of Newport, Ind., and Dorothy Miller of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Free Union cemetery in McLean County. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, is in charge of the funeral arrangements for the Miller Family.
William 'Bill' Guy Payne

William "Bill" Guy Payne, 58 of 7334 Old Kentucky 81 died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at his home. He was born on July 4, 1947, in Daviess County to Guy Payne, who died in 1968, and Mae Ola Alvey Payne, who died in 2004. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Veron Payne, in 1981; and a sister, Ruth Ann Luck in l968. He was employed by Owensboro Riverport as a forklift operator and was a member of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are his companion of 13 years, Judy Boarman, her daughter, Melissa Clouse and her children, Justin and Chelsey; four sisters; Joann Barrow of Owensboro, Jeanette Crabtree of Utica, Martha Peacock of Clarksville, Tenn., and Janice Knight of Robards; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 11 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery at St. Joseph. The Rev. Gerald Calhoun will be officiating.

BROWDER - Hazel C. Whitney, 84, of 95 Browder Church Lane, Browder, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born on April 13, 1921, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker and a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitney enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Les Whitney; a son, Robert D. Whitney; a brother, John Crabtree; and three sisters, Lit Crabtree, Goldie Jameson and Rosie Morehead.
Survivors include two sons, Mike L. (Patti) Whitney of Browder and Rick D. (Sherry) Whitney of Greenville; four grandchildren, Jessica Langley, Craig Whitney, Justin Whitney and Jared Whitney; two great-grandchildren, Whitney Langley and Keaton Whitney; a brother, Charlie Crabtree of Luzerne; and five sisters, Lou McGhee of Greenville, Mary Jones of Bremen, Martha Vincent of Graham, Alice McGhee of Owensboro and Annie Henning of Lewisport.
Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shane Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Forest Grove cemetery in Browder. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

HARTFORD - Sylvia M. Wright, 91, of Hartford died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Ohio County Hospital. She was a homemaker and member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church near Beaver Dam.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Wright and Elmer Wright Jr.; a brother, Ira Schroader; and a sister, Vergie Leach.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: After 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Margaret L. Holder

Margaret L. Holder, 86, of Lee Manor, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at Pisgah Manor Healthcare Center in Candler, N.C.
Survivors include two sons, Jan Holder and C. Phillip Holder; two daughters, Carolyn Turner and Ella Kidder; and four sisters.
Memorial services are pending. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Groce Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ashville, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
Elmer E. Kebortz

RICHLAND, Ind. - Elmer E. Kebortz, 75, of Richland passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at his home. Elmer was born in Richland on May 3, 1930, to the late Otto and Beulah (Powell) Kebortz. Elmer retired from J.H. Rudolph Construction in Evansville. He was a member of Richland Masonic Lodge, Evansville Scottish Rite and Richland United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Kebortz.
Survivors are his wife of 41 years, Sarah; two daughters, April Kebortz of Richland and Tabatha Durbin of Chrisney, Ind.; three grandsons, Aaron Kelly, Alex and Dallon Durbin; a niece, Karen Banks, and a nephew, Kevin Kebortz, both of Grandview, Ind.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with the Rev. Neil Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Hackleman cemetery in Chrisney, with American Legion Post No. 254 conducting military graveside services. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Richland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Ricky, Charles and Danny Kennedy; a daughter, Bobbie Lucas; and a brother, Earl Thomas Basham.

TROY, Ind. - Estella Mae McMahan, 87, of Troy died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born May 7, 1918, in Troy. Estelle was retired from Tell City (Ind.) Chair Co. and was a member of United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, puzzle books, crocheting, candy and caring for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gaylord Ingle, her second husband, William McMahan; a son, Kenneth Ingle; a daughter, Mary Helen McMahan; grandchildren, Tereasa Bolin and Christopher Ray Hempfling; a great-granddaughter, April Kast; and her parents, Clarence and Margaret (Spath) Sanders.
Survivors include six daughters, Barbara Hempfling and Beverly McMahan, both of Troy, Pat Brinksneader and Freida Bolin, both of Tell City, Debbie Ward of Lamar, Ind., and Trudy Berry of Philpot; a son: William McMahan of Lula, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, Clarence (Butch), Terry, Brian Ingle, Helen Kast, Becky Holpp, Rick, Nick and Kevin Hempfling, Molly Rooks, Holly McMahan, Alicia Berry, Brandon Berry, Connie Graham, Sharon and Karon Brinksneader, Pansy Riley, Danny Bolin, Cindy Ewers and Nicole Ward; 32 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, with the Rev. Gil Hubbard officiating. Burial will take place in Huff cemetery near Troy. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
Lillian Bristow Newton

Lillian Bristow Newton, 92, of Owensboro died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born Dec. 20, 1912, Mrs. Newton was the daughter of the late Robert and Tillie Husk Bristow. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a past deputy grand regent of the Moose Lodge and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stirman Newton; two sisters, Essie Gunn and Thelma McCoy; and a brother, George R. Bristow.
Survivors include two nieces, Wanda and her husband William E. Libs of Owensboro and Garlean Cooper of Portland, Tenn.; two great-nephews, Stirman and his wife, Sue Libs, of Owensboro and Wallace and his wife, Sally Libs, of Lewisburg, Tenn.; a great-niece, Harriet and her husband, Terry Weber, of Wheeling, W.Va.; and special friends, Mike and Gwen Raley and Don and Kay Thompson of Owensboro.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Salvation Army.
Virginia May Vittitow Snyder

Virginia May Vittitow Snyder, 82, of The Carmel Home died there Monday, Sept. 12, 2005. A daughter of the late James Anthony and Leah Ethel Galloway Vittitow, she was a member of Third Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday school class. Mrs. Snyder organized the Protestant religious services at The Carmel Home for many years, was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky and had served as a Brownie leader. Her husband, George Snyder, preceded her in death in 1994.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Reynolds and her husband, Lawrence Cary Reynolds, of Owensboro; her granddaughters, Ashley Gail Lile and her husband, Max, of Santa Monica, Calif., and Lesley Anne Reynolds of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews, including Diane Vittitow Stuckert of Louisville and Susan Vittitow Mayes, Nancy Carpenter Calhoun, William J. Carpenter, Robert Vittitow and Thomas Vittitow, all of Owensboro.
Services, officiated by Dr. James Byrd and the Rev. Dr. Glenn Sowards, are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Carmel Home.
Marietta M. Bumm

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Marietta M. Bumm, 90, of Rockport passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Marietta was born in Owensboro on Aug. 26, 1915, to the late Mike and Rosa (Kaulfeld) Bumm. Marietta was a clerk at Tresslors Department Store in Rockport, a graduate of Marion Heights Academy at Ferdinand, Ind., and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Altar Society in Rockport. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Bumm.
Surviving are a niece and a nephew.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Father Attila Frohlich officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Catholic cemetery in Rockport. Prayer services are at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church.

HAWESVILLE - Mary E. Goffinet Flake, 83, of Hawesville died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Tell City. She was born in Hancock on Sept. 10, 1921, to the late Dan and Annie Gray Nugent. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed taking care of her husband, cooking, her flowers, painting and her cats. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore E. Goffinet, in 1971.
Survivors include her husband, Oliver "Billy" Flake; four daughters, Barbara and Charles Brickey of Hawesville, Judie and Maurice Dillender of Evansville, Jane Bradley and Leonard Wheatley of Hawesville and Linda and Roger Applegate of Tell City, Ind.; a son, Daniel Goffinet of Evansville; four stepsons, Tom Flake, Ray Flake, Billy Joe Flake and Bobby Flake of Hawesville; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, with Father David Kennedy and the Rev. Brian Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
