The Rev. Ted Lewis Shipp

FORT WRIGHT - The Rev. Ted Lewis Shipp, 54, of Fort Wright died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at his home. He was the pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Latonia. His church membership lies within the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church in Louisville. He had served on the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church for 25 years, since 1980. The church was his whole life. His mother, Martha Shultz Shipp, died in December 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Ella Grace Shipp of Owensboro; a son, Sam Shipp of Owensboro; his father, Dr. Charles J. Shipp of Greenville; and a sister, Barbara Ruffalo of Sarasota, Fla.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Greenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund or Shipp Children Education Fund, 101 E. Southern Ave., Latonia, KY 41015.
William E. 'Tarzen' Bratcher

ROCKPORT, Ind. - William E. "Tarzen" Bratcher, 83, of Rockport passed away on Oct. 9, 2005, at his home. William was born on July 29, 1922, to the late Owen and Sarah (Swift) Bratcher. William was a member of Local 561 Labor and Hod Carries Union since 1956, and also farmed. He was a member of Larkin Baptist Church and an avid fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Bratcher; a sister, Mae Burden; and a brother, Elvis Bratcher.
He is survived by three daughters, Allean Frank of Springville, Ala., Lola Bartlett and her husband, Alva, and Sarah Fulkerson and her husband, Scott, both of Rockport; three brothers, Carl, Osco and Randy Bratcher, all of Morgantown; two sisters, Alice Faye of Morgantown and VM Bratcher of Louisville; six grandchildren, Lisa Bowens, Billy Garrett, Angela Jewell, Jeremy Bartlett, Willy Mallory and Sara Fulkerson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with the Rev. Jim England officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Tell City Hospice.
Helen Darnall Curry

Helen Darnall Curry, 98, of Owensboro passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born Oct. 4, 1907, in Carlisle to Lida Marr and Fred Everett Darnall. She attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Curry Jr., in 1971.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Barry Curry and his wife, Sharon, of Owensboro; a grandson, Dr. Chad Curry and his wife, Missy; and three great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Sarah Hayden and Greer all of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Services are at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Carlisle cemetery where there will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis in Owensboro.
Jonathan Lee Penrod

GREENVILLE - Jonathan Lee Penrod, 33, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Greenville, died at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 5, 1972, in Muhlenberg County and was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Penrod of Greenville; and two brothers, Gary Wayne Penrod of Eureka, N.C., and Terry Lane Penrod of Russellville.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Visitation is after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Laverne Reno

CENTRAL CITY - Laverne Reno, 82, of 678 S. Cherry Hill Road, Central City, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born on June 22, 1923, in Muhlenberg County. She retired from Tennessee Valley Authority as a payroll clerk and was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Reno, in 1996.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Reno and Larry and Connie Reno, all of Central City; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Bobby Reno officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Clarence Miller Jr.

GREENVILLE - Clarence Miller Jr., 72, of 245 Twin Hill Drive, Greenville, died at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, after a brief illness. He was born on Nov. 19, 1932, in Muhlenberg County, the son of Clarence Miller Sr. and Lillie Mae Dukes Miller. He was a UMWA coal miner and he retired in 1998 after 20 years at River Queen Coal Mines as a diesel mechanic. He was a member of Elkton Road Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clemontene Shelton Miller, on Dec. 30, 2000; and a great-granddaughter, Jacqualin Deason, on March 1, 1998. He was a Greenville volunteer fireman before retirement.
He is survived by a son, Curtis (Kaye) Miller of Greenville; two daughters, Cindy Lea Jones and Chasity L. Miller, both of Greenville; five grandchildren, Robert Curtis Miller and Teresa Deason, both of Greenville, Chrissy Brady of Belton and Stacy Jones and Tracy Jones, both of Greenville; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Gary's Funeral Home Greenville, with Mr. Larry Perkins and Mr. Bill Bryant officiating. Burial will be held in Woodland cemetery in Greenville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Claybourne Brooks, 66, of Warrenton, Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Fauquier Hospital. He was born in Warrenton and was a member and deacon at Poplar Fork Baptist Church in Warrenton.
Survivors include three sons; three daughters; and a brother, The Rev. Elias S. Brooks Jr., pastor of Center Street Baptist Church in Owensboro.
Services are at 1 p.m. today at Faith Christian Church in Warrenton. Burial will be in Warrenton. Young's Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
Eura 'Evelyn' K. Tichenor

Eura "Evelyn" K. Tichenor, 91, formerly of 5058 Back Square Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at the Hermitage Nursing Home. Evelyn was born in Habit to the late Willie P. and Eula Barnhill Karn. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar B. Karn; a nephew, Jimmy Karn; and a great-nephew, Brian Snyder.
Evelyn attended Western Kentucky University and studied accounting. She moved to Evansville and spent her adult life working as an accountant for several film-processing companies. After retirement, she returned to Owensboro to be near her family.
Evelyn is survived by a sister, Ina K. Snyder; a niece, Joyce Snyder; and a nephew, Glenn Snyder, all of Owensboro; a nephew, Larry Snyder of Houston; several great-nephews and nieces; and several great-great-nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be after noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lou Sims, 49, of Boca Raton passed away on Oct. 8, 2005.
Lou is survived by her loving husband, Rex; a daughter, Mallory and son, JR, loving daughter of Al and Judy Kennemer of Delray Beach, Fla.; a sister, Beba Phelan of Dallas; and a brother, Hop Kennemer of Gulf Stream, Fla.
The family will receive friends from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. EST today at Babione Funeral Home, Glades Road and Federal Highway, in Boca Raton. ARCADIA, Ind. - James Lawrence "Larry" Hendry, 49, and his wife, Anne, were killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005. Larry was a native of Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Katherine Hendry.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Beth Hendry of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Marcus and Jennifer Hendry; a granddaughter, Grace, of East Amherst, N.Y.; a brother, Alex Hendry of Nashville; and two sisters, Marty Durham of Perry, Ga., and Myrna Dantic of Owensboro.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Calvary Baptist Church in Noblesville, Ind. Randall Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville is in charge of arrangements with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13.
Clara Keith Peeno

Mrs. Clara Keith Peeno, 94, of Owensboro died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at the Carmel Home. A native of Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Lenora Benge Keith. She was a former member of Apollo Heights Baptist Church, where she was in the Class of Ruth Sunday school class and was a member of Steubenville Baptist Church in Monticello. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Peeno, on March 24, 1993.
Survivors include a sister, Velda Skidmore of Willmore; three half sisters, Vera Delph of Monticello, Joyce Miller of Nancy and JoAnn Shields of Homosassa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel.

John F. Thompson, 93, of Owensboro, formerly of Flora, Ill., died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Clay County, Illinois, to Edward Thompson and Mary (Ellington) Thompson and married
Fern Delaney on Dec. 6, 1934, in Flora. He was a retired area farmer and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Owensboro and Knights of Columbus Council 8089. John loved woodworking and he and Fern enjoyed camping and taking bus trips. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bob; a daughter, Judy; a granddaughter, Heather; two brothers, the Rev. James and Tom; a sister, Magdalene; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Fern Thompson of Owensboro; and a daughter, Donna Stuerzenberger and husband Jim of Owensboro.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Flora with the Rev. Brad Whistle officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen cemetery in Flora. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
