Arthur Delman Cowgell Jr.

Arthur Delman Cowgell Jr., 95, of 2701 Frederica St., Owensboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Harborside Nursing Facility in Owensboro. Born in Livermore, a son of the late Arthur Delman and Leona Sumner Cowgell, he retired as president of Real Electric Co., was a member of First Baptist Church and the Maverick Sunday school class, a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, a 32nd-degree Mason and member of Masonic Lodge No. 130 F&AM, a Shriner and an admiral of Kentucky waterways.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dena Hodges Cowgell, his daughters, Joy Jenkins and Jane Hocker, both of Owensboro, and Donna Johnson and Patti Mulloy, both of Louisville; his grandchildren, Pamela Jackson, Tammy Bradley, Christopher Faith, Cynthia Cambron, Dr. Laurence Cambron, James Howard Jr., Charles Stevenson, Ridley Sandidge III and Lane Sandidge; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, with Dr. David Nelson and the Rev. Clarence Nemitz officiating, where visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, and after 11 a.m. Saturday. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the charity of one's choice.

HARDINSBURG - Kathy Apperson, 60, of Hardinsburg died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was a homemaker and attended St. Romuald Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Apperson; her mother, Phyllis Thorne; seven children, Angie Patterson, Chris Hooper, Wendy Bloomfield, Holly Jarboe, Jacob and Greg Apperson and Amy Beard; and three brothers, Mike, Pat and Jeff Thorne.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg. Burial: St. Romuald cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Memorial contributions: St. Romuald School.
Carl G. Sanders

Carl Gordon Sanders, 94, of Owensboro, formerly of Fort Branch Ind., died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Sept. 19, 1911, to the late Grover and Maggie Sanders. A native of Carmi, Ill., he was a retired farmer and a lifelong member of New Liberty United Church of Christ in Cynthiana, Ind. He was a 1927 graduate of Carmi High School. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Roberta Benham Sanders, who died on June 22, 2002. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, a fan of Indiana University and Kentucky Wesleyan College basketball and all of the athletic teams at Gibson Southern High School, which he followed through the South Gibson Star-Times. Upon his retirement, he and Roberta traveled extensively throughout the United States and spent 14 winters in Florida. He was particularly proud of the New Liberty Neighborhood in which he lived and farmed and was equally proud of his 38-year business relationship with Emge Meat Packing Co.
Survivors include four sons and their wives, Keith and Elissa Sanders, Vaughn and Karen Sanders, Steve and Sally Sanders of Owensboro and Dwight and Jan Sanders of Holland, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Ryan Sanders of Indianapolis, Ashley Sanders of Lexington, Kelly Sanders of Beaufort, S.C., Chris Sanders of Elizabethtown, Tiffany Sanders of Bloomington, Ind., Kelsey and Cody Sanders of Holland and Robert and Hillary of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Bertalene Benham Cook of Owensboro; and a brother-in-law, Levitt Benham of Portland, Ore. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Stodghill Funeral Home on Highway 168 West in Fort Branch, with burial in Walnut Hill cemetery in Fort Branch. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Priscilla L. Lyle Hatler

EDDYVILLE - Priscilla L. Lyle Hatler, 99, of Eddyville died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in Birmingham, Ala. Mrs. Hatler was born in Daviess County in 1906 and grew up in McLean County. After graduating from Western State Teachers College, Mrs. Hatler taught briefly in Calhoun before beginning her career as home demonstration agent in the extension offices in Grayson, Wayne and Lyon counties. Mrs. Hatler was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. HGM Hatler.
Family graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. at Cedar Hill cemetery in Princeton. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Eddyville. Memorial expressions may be made to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children or First Baptist Church, Eddyville, Building Program.

CLOVERPORT - Marylan Jo Fralick of Cloverport died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at her residence.
She is survived by her parents, Homer and Betty Wright of Phoenix; one son-in-law, Gary L. Bruner of Cloverport; two sons, Randy Roberts of Oregon and Bobby Roberts of Texas; she is also survived by a daughter, Tammie Sue Bruner of Cloverport; two granddaughters, Ayla Joann Bruner and Katie M. Bruner, both of Cloverport; three brothers, Herbert Wright and Cary Wright, both of Mesa, Ariz., and Harold Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas; six sisters, Wanda Priester of Fort Worth, Barbara Williams of Fort Worth, Terri Hedgepeth of Mesa, Judy Ackerman of Gloucester, Va., Betty Aldred of Williamsburg, Va., and Bonnie Garin of Reston, Va.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Tenn. - Sara Jane Roop, 67, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005. She was born in Corydon, attended Kentucky Wesleyan College and retired from the Tennessee Education Association in 1998. She was a grateful member of Blakemore United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.W. and Anne Brackett; and a much-loved sister, Jo Rene Brackett Ticken.
Survivors include her best friend and husband, Joe Roop; her precious children, Amy Roop, Julie (Jim) Shadburne, Beth Roop Stovall and Jeff (Karen) Roop; a sister, Marian Keneipp; a brother, Harold Brackett; her precious grandchildren, Sara, Leslie and J.P. Stovall, Ryan Poteet, Daniel and Hannah Shadburne and Vanessa Tanner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Blakemore United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Gardner and the Rev. Michael Williams officiating. HAWESVILLE - Mary Agnes Young, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at her home in Hawesville. She was a homemaker and member of Safe Harbor in Pellville.
Survivors include three sons, David E. Patterson, Henry Patterson and Robert Patterson; a daughter, Linda Sanders; two brothers, Ownis Tindle and John Tindle; two half brothers, Waldo Tindle and Rueben Tindle; and six sisters, Pauline Sutherland, Joann Decker, Dorothy Payne, Geneva Knoop, Peggy Smith and Anna Horsley.

Raymond 'Ray' Everett Tucker

Raymond "Ray" Everett Tucker, 62, of Utica died at 10:18 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at his home. He was born on Dec. 3, 1942, in Owensboro to Clara Swaggert Tucker and the late Everett Tucker. He retired from Boilermaker Local No. 40 after 35 years and was a member of Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Club. He was a Christian and had made peace with God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda L. Tucker, on Feb. 8, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Tucker and his wife, Bridgette, of Owensboro; two daughters, Robin Boling and her husband, Donald Ray, of Owensboro and Shannon Hill of Hammond, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Tucker of Owensboro and Charlie Gowens of Utica; and a sister, Martha Gowens of Utica.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Brother Alva Sutton officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Boilermakers Local No. 40 will conduct a service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Ted Lewis Shipp

FORT WRIGHT - The Rev. Ted Lewis Shipp, 54, of Fort Wright died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at his home. He was the pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Latonia. His church membership lies within the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church in Louisville. He had served on the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church for 25 years, since 1980. The church was his whole life. His mother, Martha Shultz Shipp, died in December 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Ella Grace Shipp of Owensboro; a son, Sam Shipp of Owensboro; his father, Dr. Charles J. Shipp of Greenville; and a sister, Barbara Ruffalo of Sarasota, Fla.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Greenville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund or Shipp Children Education Fund, 101 E. John Louis 'Diz' Stewart Sr.

LOGAN, Ohio - John Louis "Diz" Stewart Sr., 70, of Logan passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at his home after an extended illness. He was born on Jan. 1, 1935, in Owensboro, a son of the late Troy Richard-Dewey and Anna Lee (Evitts) Stewart. Mr. Stewart had retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark, Ohio, after 23 years of service. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Heath and Troy Stewart.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Carol (Ferry) Stewart of Logan; five sons, John (Carol) Stewart of Springfield, Ohio, Troy (Debbie) Stewart of Logan and Scott Stewart, Brian Stewart and Craig (Karen) Stewart, all of Newark; three daughters, Jean (Don) Zulfer of Decherd, Tenn., and Tyann Pyle and Sarita Wenner, both of Newark; a brother, Carl (Martha) Stewart of Newark; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by Roberts Funeral Home in Logan.

Patricia Ann Young, 38, of 4637 Windy Hollow Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, in Owensboro. She was born May 12, 1968, in Daviess County. She was employed by DBM Technology as a press operator and a member of Wing Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Charlotte Moore and Marvin Moore of Owensboro; three sons, Charles Lee Kamuf, Thomas Randall and Jeffrey Young, all of Owensboro; two daughters, Charlotte Leann Young and Samantha Scarberry, both of Owensboro; and a brother, Charles William Ramson III of Owensboro.
Private services will be held at Wing Avenue Baptist Church. Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
