CALHOUN, Ky. — Doverda “Chubby” (Gass) Gish, 87, formerly of Henderson County, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.

She was a retired legal secretary.

She was a member of Bellfield Baptist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school and was a member of the Missionary Society.

Surviving are a sister, Corinne Burton of Sheridan, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Raymond P. “Penny, ” died in 1997.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bellfield Baptist Church, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bellfield Baptist Church.

Bill Clark

MARION, Ky. — Bill Clark, 82, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the home of his brother in Marion.

Surviving are three brothers, Raymond of Marion, Melburn of Sturgis and Alfred of Blackford; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irvie.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Crowell cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

C.R. Jones

TOLU, Ky. — C.R. Jones, 80, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Crittenden County Hospital.

He was a member of the Carsville Masonic Lodge and the Shrine.

Surviving are his wife, LaVina; two sons, Keith of Big Sandy, Tenn., and Chuck of Springfield, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Deer Creek cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Gilbert Funeral Home.

Gerthie Brown

PRINCETON, Ky. — Gerthie Dalton Brown, 73, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Princeton Health Care Manor.

She was self-employed as a housekeeper.

Surviving are her husband, William “Pete”; a brother, Denzil Jackson of Princeton; and nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, Marvin Dalton, died in 1993.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

William Harrell

PRINCETON, Ky. — William “Bill” Harrell, 68, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Princeton Health Care Manor.

He had been a night watchman at the Princeton Hosiery Mill.

He was a member of the Highland Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Leatrice Faye (Keating); three daughters, Tonya Luther of Dawson Springs, Tammy Harrell of Madisonville and Melissa Leigh Blythe of Evansville; two stepdaughters, Debbie Sullivan of Princeton and Sherry Whelen of Evansville; four stepsons, Gary Sigler of Atlanta, Terry Sigler of Leesburg, Fla., Ray Sigler of Princeton and Arbie Sigler of San Diego, Calif.; six sisters, Rosie Boitnott, Kelly Hinton, Clara Bell Harrell, Elsie Cooper and Sara A. Roberts, all of Princeton, and Roberta Driver of Tennessee; three brothers, Frank of Princeton, Jim of Murray and James of Madisonville; grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with in Highland Baptist Church. Burial is pending.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnnie Edwards

STURGIS, Ky. — Johnnie Mae Edwards, 99, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.

She had managed the Red Front Grocery Store for many years.

She was the oldest member of the United Methodist Church in Sturgis.

Surviving are a brother, Otho Edwards of Louisville; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home, with burial in Pythian Ridge cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Dorsey Howell

HENDERSON, Ky. — Dorsey T. Howell, 73, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville of congestive heart failure.

He retired from the Hugh Sanderfur Training Center in Henderson.

He was Baptist and enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Surviving are a daughter, Freida White of Evansville; four sons, Ellis, Billy and Robert Howell, all of Henderson, and Kenneth Howell of Owensboro; two sisters, Exie B. of Nashville, Tenn., and Betty Lou of Calhoun; a brother, Eugene of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

His daughter, Terri Howell, died in 1981.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Mount Vernon cemetery in McLean County.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Etta Johnson

HENDERSON, Ky. — Etta M. Woolfolk Johnson, 64, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Methodist Hospital of heart failure.

She was a graduate of Douglas High School and a member of the Corydon Church of God in Christ.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Roy; a son, Bruce of Manhattan, N.Y.; a sister, Ida Woolfolk Thomas of Henderson; five brothers, James A. Woolfolk of Louisville, Early Otis Woolfolk of Chicago, Elder Prince W. Woolfolk of Henderson, David Woolfolk of Decatur, Ga., and Bobby A. Woolfolk of Irvin, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sheepshed Christian Fellowship Center in Corydon, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Mason Bros. Audubon Chapel and from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.

George Everly

HENDERSON, Ky. — George W. Everly, 75, of Niagara, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville of heart failure.

He retired as a welder from Banner Truck and Trailer and was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a member of the Niagara Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Nadine; a daughter, Lena Clement of Henderson; a son, David of Georgetown, Ky.; brother, Darrell of Central City; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmont cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Terry Loney

HENDERSON, Ky. — Terry Beth “Kizzy” Loney, 42, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at her home. Cause of death is pending autopsy results.

She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

Surviving are her son, William David Murchison of Henderson; her parents, Rex and Linda Loney of Henderson; two sisters, Rexanne Loney Fraizer of Kevil and Candy Sue Loney of Louisville; five brothers, Rocky Joe Loney of Greenville, Ill., Edward Wayne and James Chester Loney, both of Louisville, Christopher Brian Loney of Kevil and Phillip Loney of Versailles; her grandmother, Lena Loney; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, with burial in St. Louis cemetery.

Friend may call from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

James Girten

MORGANFIELD, Ky. — James D. “J.D.” Girten, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at his home.

He was a school bus driver for 37 years and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elanor; two daughters, Carolyn Ann Phillips and Pamela Faye Hensen, both of St. Louis; a son, Larry of Henderson; three sisters, Evelyn Buckman and Pauline Moore, both of Morganfield, and Lucille Walker of Henderson; grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to service time at time at Whitsell Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Byrd Deering

SEBREE, Ky. — Byrd Oglesby Deering, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home.

She was a member of Shady Grove General Baptist Church in Poole and the Eastern Star.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Kenneth C. Kemp Deering, died in 1983.

Arrangements were handled by Tompkins Funeral Home Sebree-Poole Chapel, burial was in Springdale cemetery.
