George Hodge
MARION, Ky. — George L. Hodge, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Crittenden County Hospital of heart failure.
He was a member of the St. William Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Hodge of Marion; three sons, Morris, Howard and Michael, all of Marion; two brothers, Don and Sam, both of Marion; a sister, Mary Wicker of Marion; and nine grandchildren.
His wife, Alice, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at St. William Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Helen Hurt
henderson — Helen Jane Parker Hurt, 51, of Henderson, died Wednesday Feb. 23, 2000, at her home.
She was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Tom; two daughters, Jennifer and Jamie Parker, both of Henderson; a sister, Mary Anne Williams of Henderson; six brothers, J.D., Robert, Billy Joe and Birdie Vowels, all of Henderson, Marty Vowels of North Chelmsford, Mass., and David Vowels of Owensboro; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm. Saturday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Ruby Harrison
CALHOUN, Ky. — Ruby Jane Harrison, 73, formerly of Calhoun, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at the Bedford Medical Center.
She retired as a nurse’s aide from Westview Manor Health Care Center.
She attended the Calhoun United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Johnny Duncan of Bedford, Ind.; three sisters, Dorothy Claypool of Louisville, Dorothy Lindsey of Spottsville and Linda Ryan of Grandview, Ind.; two brothers, Weldon Mauzy of Owensboro and Nathaniel Mauzy of Washington, D.C.; a grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Lonzo, died in 1952.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Free Union cemetery in Sacramento.

Bryon Egbert
PRINCETON, Ky. — Bryon, Durwood Egbert, 58, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Western Baptist Hospital.
He was a salesman for the Cole Lumber Co.
Surviving are a daughter, Sussann Lovett of Murray; his mother, Mary Wheeler Egbert of Princeton; three brothers, Don of Dawson Springs, Jim of Murray and Ralph of Lexington; and his fiancee, Emma Payne.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Hill cemetery.

William McCally
HENDERSON, Ky. — William E. McCally, 77, of Henderson, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville of heart failure.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and was a prisoner of war for two years in Stalag 17. He participated in the Berlin Airlift, was a Vietnam War veteran and the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and six Oak Leaf Cluster.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Patsy; a daughter, Kimberly McCally of Tucson, Ariz.; a stepson, Stephen Brown of New York; a brother, Tom of Toledo, Ohio; and a grandson, Marshall Brown.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Edward Mendyk
MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Edward Andrew Mendyk, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at his home.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the Hopkins County Republican Party.
Surviving are a son, Lowell of Madisonville; three sisters, Henrietta Spotti of Mesa, Ariz., Anastasia Napier of Lindsey, Ill., and Alice Carson of La Junta, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Chris and Alisa Mendyk.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial pending. There will be no visitation.

Lillian Cheatam
SEBREE, Ky. — Lillian Cheatam, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home.
She retired as a nurse’s aide and was a member of the First Christian Church in Henderson.
Surviving are nieces and nephews including Shirley Cheatam of Beech Grove, who cared for her.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Fernwood cemetery in Henderson. Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel is handling arrangements.
James Campbell
HENDERSON, Ky. — James Thomas Campbell, 55, died Monday at his sister’s home of heart failure.
He retired from World Color Inc. as a machine operator.
He was a member of the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Louisville and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are five stepdaughters, Beniola “Bean” and Kathy Bacon, Mary Eskridge, Willie Gerton and Emily Washington, all of Louisville; three stepsons, John and Duncan Eskridge, both of Louisville, and Christopher Eskridge of Chicago; his mother, Mildred P. Odom of Woodburn, Ky.; two sisters, Frances O. Baker of Henderson and Carole P. Whitlock of Evansville; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Friday at Greenhill Baptist Church in Frankfort, with burial in Greenhill cemetery .
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the church in Frankfort and from 6 to 8 p.m. CST Thursday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Henderson.

Wanda Frederick
HENDERSON, Ky. — Wanda Sue Frederick, 55, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Methodist Hospital of an aneurysm.
She was a member of the Living Faith Tabernacle.
Surviving are four daughters, Irene Owens of Tilden and Brenda Buchanan, Tammy Helms and Evelyn Householder, all of Henderson; a son, Johnny Frederick of Corydon; a sister, Janie Meeks of Englewood, Colo.; five brothers, Carlon Sparks of Robards, Randy Sparks of Corydon and James, Dwayne and Lonnie Sparks, all of Henderson; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Thomas Edward, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Living Faith Tabernacle, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.

Margaret Brackett
MORGANFIELD, Ky. — Margaret Abell “Mama B” Brackett, 94, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at the home of her granddaughter, Kathy Creasey of Sturgis.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Bill, Richard and Mark Lichtefeld, Mary Margaret Logsdon, Jon and Melissa Greenwell and Krissie Piper; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A daughter, Mary Anne Greenwell, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann Catholic Church, with burial in St. Ann cemetery.

Sidney Dame
MANITOU, Ky. — Emon Sidney “Sid” Dame, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Senior Citizen Nursing Home.
He had been a farmer and a carpenter. He retired from the highway department in 1975.
He was a member of Concord General Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine (Clark); three sons, Jerry, Danny and Dennis, all of Manitou; two sisters, Rudel Dame Stewart of Waterford, Mich., and Lena Mae Dame Scheerer of Pontiac, Mich.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul C., in 1996.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Concord Church cemetery.
