MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Leota Brooks, 84, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at her home.

She worked for Chicago Communications as a parts changer.

She was a member of Earlington General Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mildred Ann Pelikan of Madisonville; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Maurice Shelby, died in 1993.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green River Hospice, Earlington General Baptist Church or to Victory General Baptist Church in Hanson.

Beverly Caraway

PRINCETON, Ky. — Beverly (Allen) Caraway, 39, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Crittenden County Hospital in Marion after suffering from cirrhosis of the liver.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was a member of the Princeton Assembly of God.

Surviving are her parents, Joe Allen of Atlanta and Katherine Allen of Princeton; three sisters, Debbie Gunn and Sandy Collins, both of Providence, and Karla Clift of Whitney, Texas; a brother, Ricky Allen of Dawson Springs; nieces and nephews; and her fiance, Tim Owens of Crofton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Illsley cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mark Weaks

PRINCETON, Ky. — Mark Weaks, 90, formerly of Princeton, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at his home in Paducah.

He worked for General Motors as a die cast operator.

He was a member of Margaret Hank Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

His wife, Anna Dell (Jones), died in 1989.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Morse cemetery in Caldwell County.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mildred Yates

HENDERSON, Ky. — Mildred A. Yates, 81, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Methodist Hospital.

She was Lutheran.

She was a 1936 graduate of Central High School in Evansville and enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are a daughter, Toni McCarty of Henderson; a sister, Margaret Knight of Bettendorf, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jeff and Jonna Commes; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Thomas E., died in 1974.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Mary Boaz

PRINCETON, Ky. — Mary Frances Boaz, 82, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospital.

She retired from Caldwell County Hospital as a cook.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Princeton.

Surviving are a daughter, Patty Cooper of Princeton; a son, Clarence of Princeton; three sisters, Ann Baldino of Phoenix, June Summer of Cadiz and Edna Puckett of Princeton; three grandchildren, Randy and Marty Cooper and Marcie Nix; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy, in 1976, and by a son, Thomas Cash Boaz.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Princeton Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Horace Miller

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Horace Wayne Miller, 84, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at his home.

He retired from Island Creek Coal Co. He also worked at Grapevine Mines and East Diamond Mines and served as fire chief at Camp Breckinridge during World War II.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Earlington.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mana (Russell); a daughter, Sharon Allen of Earlington; a son, Mike of Madisonville; two sisters, Juanita Martin and Yvonne Hook, both of Madisonville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery in Madisonville.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green River Hospice or to the Earlington First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Ione Russell

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — Ione Russell, 84, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She worked for Dawson Springs Progress as a type setter and as a clerk for the IGA and Purdy Grocery in Dawson Springs.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs.

Surviving are two sisters, Billie Clayton of Hopkinsville and Arlie Graham of Fayetteville, Ga.

Her husband, Emmett, died in 1993.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Beshear Funeral Home, with burial in Rosedale cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Arietta Baker

PRINCETON, Ky. — Arietta Baker, 79, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Donna Vinson, in Princeton.

She was a retired cafeteria worker.

She was a member of the Princeton Church of Christ.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna Vinson and Joann Chambers, both of Princeton, and Rebecca Driskill of Fredonia; a sister, Harriett Tyler of Princeton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Fred R., died in 1971.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Lance Nichols cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pearl Keyes

PRINCETON, Ky. — Pearl Keyes, 63, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.

She had been a cook and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Chancellor of Corydon; three sons, Larry and Perry, both of Knoxville, Tenn., and Gary of Henderson County; two sisters, Dorothy Doyle of Rochester, Mich., and Debbie Granstaff of Princeton; two brothers, Eddie Tosh of Caldwell County and Wesley Grimes of Hopkinsville; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Gerald, and a son, Terry, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Fredonia cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Natalie Ashby

SLAUGHTERS, Ky. — Natalie Williams Ashby, 92, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Madisonville.

She retired from the Slaughters Mercantile Co. Store and had been a teacher.

She was a member and had taught Sunday school at Slaughters United Methodist Church and was a member of Eastern Star.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Carnal of Hopkinsville; two sons, Harry Glenn of Slaughters and Norman H. “Bud” of Greenville; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Harry E., preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tompkins Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel, with burial in Slaughters cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or a favorite charity.
