Earl Taylor

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Earl Lee Taylor, 60, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at his home of cancer. He retired from the Army as a

sergeant major after 25 years, serving two tours of duty in Korea, one in Vietnam and two in Germany. He worked for the Kentucky Highway Department for 12 years. He was a member of Madisonville Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Fuqua); a daughter, Jacqueline Blaisdell of Sunbury, Pa.; two sons, Timothy of Leroy, N.Y., and James of Laurelton, Pa.; his mother, Adelaide Morris Taylor of Owensboro; two sisters, Benola Dant of Owensboro and Peggy Hawkins of Bay City, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, with military rites. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Madisonville Baptist Church or to Mahr Cancer Center.

George Whitt

MARION, Ky. — George “Buddy” Whitt, 58, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Western Baptist Hospital of heart failure.

He was a member of Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lou; two sons, Mark of Murray and Stewart of Marion; three sisters, Barbara Dixon of Winchester, Sandra Beck of Lexington and Janice Cottrell of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Larry of Calvert City; and three grandchildren, Shera, Adam and Elizabeth Whitt.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Mapleview cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rose Utley

PROVIDENCE, Ky. — Rose Lee Utley, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church and Eastern Star 304.

Surviving are two daughters, Miranda Utley and Linda Rich, both of Providence; five sons, Curtis E. and Rudy, both of Morganfield, James O., Victor P. and Allen, all of Providence; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis P.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Melton Funeral Home, with burial in Pleasant Valley cemetery. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Kenneth Whitledge

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Kenneth L. “Whit” Whitledge, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his winter home in Frostproof, Fla., after suffering from a heart condition.

He retired from Andalex Resources after 31 years.

He was a member and deacon of the First General Baptist Church in Madisonville and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 5480. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda (Hughes); a daughter, Lynn Whitledge of Madisonville; a son, Rick of Madisonville; a twin sister, Joyce McGill of Blackford; a grandson, Jody Hogart; and two step grandchildren, Sean and Shelby Jones.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First General Baptist Church.

Wanda Summers

SPOTTSVILLE, Ky. — Wanda “Lou” Summers, 59, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville after suffering from cancer.

Surviving are two sons, Gary of Reed and Mike of Spottsville; her mother, Elsie Skaggs of Henderson; two sisters, Fay Brown of Spottsville and Linda Persley of Hopkinsville; three brothers, Leo and Ronald Skaggs, both of Henderson, and Albert Skaggs of Spottsville; a grandson; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wayne, in 1979.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Beals Pentecostal Church in Beals, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

Kriekhaus-Sansom Funeral Home in Evansville is handling arrangements.

Willie DeMoss

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Willie Hazel (Coffman) DeMoss, 81, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home.

She was a member of Lighthouse The Greater United Pentecostal Church of Madisonville, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Fellowship Circle and the Food Committee.

Surviving are four daughters, Patricia Anne and Rebecca Gail DeMoss and Karen LeGrand, all of Madisonville, and Sharon Harper of Paducah; a son, Hiram Glenn of Madisonville; two sisters, Maxine DeMoss and Mavis Seaton, both of Evansville; six grandchildren, Alisha DeMoss, Cristie and Lindsey LeGrand, Celestine and Will Harper and Hope Harper Dowdy; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Hiram T., died in 1995.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, with entombment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Jane Fraliex

PRINCETON, Ky. — Jane Fraliex, 68, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville of cancer.

She retired from Princeton Hosiery Mill as a seamstress. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Jerry; two daughters, Sharon Oliver of Princeton and Sandra Dunn of Lyon County; two sons, Sam and Steve Gilkey, both of Caldwell County; two sisters, Mellodean Cortner of Caldwell County and Juanita Drescher of Florida; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Blue Spring Church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Infant Holly Goodwin

MORGANFIELD, Ky. — Holly Nicole Goodwin, 7 weeks, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Methodist Hospital. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Surviving are her mother, Jennifer Goodwin; and grandparents, Terry and Donna Goodwin.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at Whitsell Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sturgis United Methodist Church.

Elsie Sandefur

CALHOUN, Ky. — Elsie Elson Sandefur, 76, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center of congestive heart failure.

She was a member of the Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis and attended the Calhoun Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Louis; and two sisters, Roberta Fotinakes of Ceneseo and Joanna Marciano of St. Louis.

Services will be at noon today at Muster Funeral Home, with burial in Calhoun cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.

Patricia O’Flynn

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Patricia Ricketts O’Flynn, 73, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at her home.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the hospital guild.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Jay H.; a daughter, Kay Harper of Prospect; a son, Jay H. III of Centerville, Ohio; a sister, Martha McCarty of Escondido, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Association of Owensboro.

Harold Jones

UNIONTOWN, Ky. — Harold Jones, 69, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson of congestive heart failure.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 5488.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda; a stepdaughter, Lisa Peak of Waverly; a son, Jason H. of Uniontown; two stepsons, Dennis K. and Donald R. Girten, both of Uniontown; two brothers, J.D. of Moore, Okla., and T.J. of Russellville, Ark.; a grandchild; and six step grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Morganfield, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Patsy Vaughn

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — Patsy Lorene Vaughn, 59, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center after surgery.

She had been a health care aide and was a member of the Charity Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Patty Ann Butler, Anna Brown and Sandra Orten, all of Dawson Springs; three sons, Randy, Ricky and Glen, all of Dawson Springs; five brothers, Elmer, Billy, Ernest Jr. and Robert Moore, all of Dawson Springs, and Rick Moore of Madisonville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beshear Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Grove cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
