John Willett

WAVERLY, Ky. — John L. “Johnny” Willett, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Methodist Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

He worked for the city of Waverly.

He was a Korean War Army veteran and member of the St. Peter Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Betty Jean; two daughters, Barbara Jean Overfield of Waverly and Peggy Marie Turner of Morganfield; two sons, Mike Lucian and Timmy Lee, both of Waverly; two sisters, Susie Duncan of Morganfield and Theresa Nelson of Uniontown; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to service time at the Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity.

Robert Adamson

MORGANFIELD, Ky. — Robert Allen Adamson, 81, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Union County.

He was a farmer, a surveyor for the Army Corps of Engineers, and retired from the post office in Morganfield.

He was a World War II Marine veteran.

He was a member of Grove Center Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Vicki Ricketts, Debbie Hite and Peggy Adamson, all of Morganfield, and Donna Diehl of Uniontown; a son, Bobby of Nortonville; three sisters, Florine Johnson and Dot Timmons, both of Morganfield, and Mae Moore of Evansville; three brothers, Roger “Pud” and Charles, both of Morganfield, and Jack of Sturgis; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Robbie Hite, Holly McGlothin, Jeff Girten, Stacey Lloyd, Jason Adamson and Matt Diehl; and six great-grandchildren.

His wife, Drucilla (Parish), died in 1992.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellow cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Grace Love

CALHOUN, Ky. — Grace O. Love, 88, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center.

She was a member of the Evangel Tabernacle.

Surviving are a daughter, Aleene L. Abney of Calhoun; a son, Dan E. of Gaithersburg, Md.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Elbert, died in 1964.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Calhoun cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

James Howard

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — James Keith Howard, 41, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at the Madisonville Regional Medical Center of cancer.

He was a master electrician.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Earlington.

Surviving are his wife, Joella (Pearce); a daughter, Katelyn Louise Howard of Madisonville; a son, Bradley Keith of Madisonville; his parents, James O. and Johnnie Mae Howard of Earlington; two sisters, Kathy Morgan and Karen Groves, both of Earlington; two brothers, John Kevin and Jeffrey Kreig, both of Earlington; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to noon at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.

Mary Blandford

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Mary Florean S. Blandford, 98, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Owensboro Mercy Health System.

She was a member of the Blessed Mother Catholic Church and former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Surviving are six daughters, Lucille Vowels, Edith Conkright, Leone Prewitt and Marie Thompson, all of Owensboro, Emogene Alvey of Louisville and Edwina Johnson of Evansville; two sons, William J. of Owensboro and Joseph Walter of Lowell, Ind.; 38 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 37 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, W.G. “Bill, ” died in 1966.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery in St. Joseph.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home.

Lillie Floyd

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Lillie Sue Floyd died Monday, Jan.31, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Community Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Krahwinkel of Owensboro; three sisters, Bertha Newman and Edith Payne, both of Owensboro, and Annie Cooper of Maceo; seven grandchildren; a step grandchild; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Her husband, Chester Allen, two daughters, Anna Marie Kemling and Wanda Kincaid, and a son, Harrison Allen Floyd, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Association.

Lisa Melton

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Lisa Darlene “Sissy” Melton, 36, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center from complications of cerebral palsy.

Surviving are her parents, Otis Melton and Stella Mae Adcock, both of Madisonville; a sister, Melinda Massey of Mortons Gap; three brothers, Otis Gordon and Elgie Lee, both of Madisonville, and Ronald Wayne of Slaughters; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Lois Graham

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Lois Sights Graham, 83, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.

She had been an executive secretary with West Kentucky Coal Co. and Island Creek Coal Co.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and a honorary Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are a son, George V. Coyle of Hanson; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Lona B., in 1991.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Joan Yates

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Joan Marie Yates died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Vencor Nursing Home in Sellersburg, Ind.

She retired as an assembly line worker for Goodyear and was a former nurse at Hopkins County Hospital and in the Trover Clinic.

She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Tesie Rena Elliott and Frankie Louise Duvall, both of Louisville; two sons, James Louis Williams and Brian Keith Elliott, both of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eastview Baptist Church in Madisonville, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.

Walter Ruby Jr.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Walter J. Ruby Jr., 80, died, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.

He had been a cattle breeder, farmer, director of the Kentucky Bank and Trust Co. and Bank One and owned extensive coal properties.

His prize-winning registered Hereford cattle were known all over the United States.

He served on the committee for the National Cattleman’s Association.

Surviving are a daughter, Ann Connor Ruby Heim of Orlando, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Pamela White of Sacramento, Calif.; three sons, Walter, Turner and Laurel, all of Indianapolis; three stepsons, Duncan Harding of Woodland Park, Colo., Terry Harding of Atlanta and Chris Northam of Paris, Tenn.; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Services will be private, with entombment in the family mausoleum at Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at his residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
