Lawrence Lucas

MARION — Lawrence “Slats” Lucas, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Crittenden Health System.

He had been an independent rock consultant for construction of Negev Air Force Base in Israel. He had also been a consultant in Oman, Jordan; the Bahamas; and Kwajalein near Australia. He had been the owner of Lucas Trucking and co-owner of Lucas and Brown Excavating. He retired from Three Rivers Rock Quarry after 20 years.

He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Carla Lucas Hunley of Salem and Carol Lucas Martin of Morganton, N.C.; a son, Todd of Smithland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lauren “Enie” Lucas, and a son, David Russell.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Mapleview cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Tina Parker

DAWSON SPRINGS — Tina (Wilkerson) Parker, 82, of Easley, S.C., formerly of Dawson Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Easley Baptist Medical Center.

She had been a retail clerk at the Ben Franklin Store and Purdy’s Grocery in Dawson Springs. She had also worked at Outwood Hospital.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Dawson Springs.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherrie Holland of Easley; three stepdaughters, Ivyal Naisz of Dawson Springs, Edna Cannon of Cadiz and Glenda Robertson of Princeton; three stepsons, Dennis and Aldin Parker, both of Dawson Springs, and Myron Parker of Crofton; a sister, Genevieve Beasley of Gilbertsville; step grandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Roscoe.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, with burial in McKnight cemetery in Christian County.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Mattibel Hoffman

HENDERSON — Mattibel Utley Hoffman, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home.

She retired from the Henderson County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service office.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose.

Surviving are three sisters, Lucille Trader of Henderson, Ann Helm of Ohio and Claire Utley of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Robert A., died in 1986.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Fernwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Dorsey Fox

MAYFIELD — Dorsey Matlock Fox, 58, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen S. Colley of Mayfield and Glenda J. Fox of Livingston, La.; a son, Chad M. of Murray; two brothers, Bobby R. of Evansville and William Earl of Marion; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, with burial in Mapleview cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Alfred Vaughn

CLAY — Alfred Cleo Vaughn, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at his home.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and attended Grace Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Greg of North Branch, Mich., and Larry of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Marguirette Williams of Clay; a brother, Edmond of Cadiz; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church, with Masonic rites.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time at the church.

Vanover Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Lisa King

CALHOUN — Lisa A. (Mayes) King, 34, died of an aneurysm in her lung Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

She was a graduate of McLean County High School.

She was a Catholic.

Surviving are her husband, Terry; two daughters, Taryn Shanae Crabtree of Sorgho and Brandy Colleen King of Calhoun; her mother and stepfather, Charlotte and David Vance of Calhoun; her father and stepmother, Joe and Sharon Mayes of Benicia, Calif.; a brother, Scotty Allen Mayes of Calhoun; and her grandmother, Roberta Gafford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Calhoun cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Lula Johnson

HENDERSON — Lula Belle Johnson, 57, died of complications of cancer Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Hosptal.

She was a member of the DuPey Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Hugh Glen Sr.; three daughters, Brenda Johnson of Henderson, Patricia Goodwin of Smithfield, Va., and Glenda Reynolds of Cold Springs, Ky.; a son, Hugh Glenn Jr. of Arkansas; seven sisters, Connie Cannon, Betty Turner, Sheila Lancaster, Janna Hancock, Linda Blanford, Dorothy Quinn and Margaret Fraaken; five brothers, David, Jerry, Larry, Kenny and William Knott, all of Henderson; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at DuPey Baptist Church in Bluff City, with burial in Cash Creek cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Viola Warren

DIXON — Viola Crowley Warren, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.

She had worked for her late husband, Eichel Edward, in his office when he was the Webster County Judge.

She was a member of the Sebree United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Eichel L. of Sebree; a sister, Curtis Davenport of Sebree; two grandchildren, Cindy Weaver and Roderick Lance Warren; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tompkins Funeral Homes Sebree-Poole Chapel, with burial in Springdale cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International.

Mary Broaddus

PROVIDENCE — Mary M. Broaddus, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.

She was a Baptist.

Surviving are seven daughters, Reda Simms of Nebo, Shelby Bean and Mary Couchman, both of Madisonville, and Dorothy Burns, Diane Broaddus, Brenda Christian and Patricia Frasier, all of Providence; a son, Jerry of Madisonville; a sister, Lorene Crannick of Providence; two brothers, Elmer Skimerhorn of White Plains and George Skimerhorn Jr. of Fredonia; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home, with burial in White Oak cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Richen Price

CLAY — Richen H. “Red” Price, 78, of Speedway, Ind., died of pneumonia Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He retired in 1984 as director of purchasing, after 28 years with the Town & Country Shoe Corp.

He was a member of the Webb Memorial United Methodist Church in Clay, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Ararat Shrine Temple and Hadi Shrine in Evansville.

Surviving are his wife, Faye (Mooney) Small; a daughter, Pamela Werkmeister; a stepdaughter, Janet Chapman; and three grandsons, Richen Price, Raymond III and Scott Werkmeister.

His first wife, Nyra, died Dec. 15, 1982.

Memorial services are pending at the Webb Memorial United Methodist Church in Clay. Stevens Mortuary in Indianapolis is handling arrangements.

Thelma Deckard

UNIONTOWN — Thelma P. Deckard, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Morganfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Surviving are two daughters, Aleda B. Sevier of Georgetown, Texas, and Winetta K. Blake of Uniontown; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, George Winnie, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday at Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger, Ind., with burial in Hickory cemetery in Sullivan County, Ind.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. EST and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Uniontown Elementary School PTO.
