Catherine O’Forrest

HENDERSON — Catherine Mae Hensley O’Forrest, 72, died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Methodist Hospital.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary and Eagles Club, both of Butler Ind., and Spottsvile Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Williams of Vincennes, Ind., and Deborah Patterson of Henderson; a sister, Barbara Branson of Henderson; three brothers, Alec, Terry and Bruce, all of Henderson; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, last year.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The body will be cremated.

Friends may call from 5 p.m until service time at the funeral home.

Margaret Wright

HENDERSON — Margaret Horn Wright, 71, died of cancer Friday, April 6, 2001, at her home.

She retired from General Electric and from Ellis Park.

She was a member of Spottsville Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Tara Coomes of Henderson; two sons, Dennis McCarthy and John McCurry, bith of Henderson; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, with burial in St. Louis cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Ora James

MARION — Ora Rhea James, 97, died Monday, April 1, 2001, at Salem Springlake Care Center.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Larry Debeau and Lisa York; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie, and three children, Trice and Lois James and Jean Debeau.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mapleview cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home.

Abraham Houle

HENDERSON — Abraham Houle, 95, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Red Banks Nursing Home.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Loretta Goldsberry of Reed, Ky.; 10 stepgrandchildren, including, Cindy Koonce, who cared for him; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at End of Time Pentecostal Church in Henderson, with burial pending in Zachary Taylor Memorial cemetery in Louisville, Ky.

There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville.

Eugene Cates

MORGANFIELD — Eugene Cates, 83, of Pride, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson.

He retired from the Earle C. Clements Job Corp Center and he was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are two daughters, Pat Cowan of Morganfield and Mona Nalley of Evansville; a son, Rickey Dale of Henderson; a brother, Raymond of Clay; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home, with burial in Boxville cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

William Keown

MADISONVILLE — William R. “Red” Keown, 87, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Senior Citizens Nursing Home.

He was a farmer and member of the Elm Grove United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 6.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Marrero of Florissant, Mo.; a son, Rodger of Madisonville; a sister, Juanita Kelley of Madisonville; a brother, J.W. of Madisonville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. His wife, Anna Lee (Wilkerson), died in 1996.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with burial in Bethlehem cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green River Hospice.

Frances Brown

CROFTON — Frances Odean Brown, 81, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at New Dawson Springs Nursing Home.

During World War II she worked as a riveter in Denver and had worked seven years at the Outwood Hospital and worked at Pennyrile State Resort Park.

She was a Pentecostal.

Surviving are her husband, Leonard; a daughter, Wanda Tuggle of Crofton; a son, Robert of Dawson Springs; two brothers, Robert Norman Croft of Calvert City and Wilmoth F.; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Beshear Funeral Home, with burial in Hawkins cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Walter Lewis

SLAUGHTERS — Walter E. “Slim” Lewis, 85, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Versnick Healthcare Center in Madisonville.

He worked for Texas Gas for 35 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Slaughters Masonic Lodge and the Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Marksberry); a daughter, Elaine Price of Dixon; a son, Larry of Hanson; a sister, Laureen McFadden of Utica; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tompkins Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel, with burial in Slaughters cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to to Slaughters Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund or the Kentucky Alzheimer’s Association.

Fannie Rash

MORTONS GAP — Fannie Earl Rash, 93, died Saturday, March, 31. 2001, at Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Madisonville.

Surviving are two daughters, Martha Gamblin of Mortons Gap and Gail Warren of Apex; a son, Willis of Mortons Gap; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond, a daughter, Mattie Jean Long, and two sons, John Wayne and James Daniel.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, with burial in Salem cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Perry Ford

LIVERMORE — Perry William Ford, 75, died of an apparent heart attack Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his home.

He retired from the Wonder Rest Chair Factory.

He was a member of the Christ Gospel Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Hall of Bremen; a stepdaughter, Kathy Mosby of Central City; three sons, Danny of Livermore, Johnny of Owensboro and Timmy of Clear Lake, Calif.; a stepson, Jason of Central City; five sisters, Jane Page, Ruth Johnson and Minnie Mae Troutman, all of Livermore, Elizabeth Mason of Beaver Dam and Katherine Wimsatt Wright of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Home Livermore Chapel, with burial in Briar Creek cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry William Ford Memorial Fund in care of Independence Bank.

Annette Kresin

LIVERMORE — Annette Davis Kresin, 88, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun.

She was a member of Livermore United Methodist Church.

Surviving are nieces and nephews. Her husband, Carl F., died in 1975.

There will be no visitation or service. Muster Funeral Home Livermore Chapel is handling arrangements.

Virginia Huff

HENDERSON — Virginia “Jenny” (Stone) Huff, 46, formerly of Evansville, died of a heart attack Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

Surviving are her husband, Carl R. “Shadow” III; two daughters, Crystal Bender and Nikki Floyd, both of Henderson; a son, Steven Floyd of Evansville; three sisters, Margaret Smith of Cairo and Sue White and Anna Powell, both of Corydon; four brothers, J.T. and Arthur Stone, both of Henderson, and Larry and David Stone, both of Corydon; and a grandson.

A daughter, Angel Floyd, died in 1978.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Slover cemetery in Dixon.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
