HAWESVILLE - Louise Ogle Moran, 82, of Ventura, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at the The Ventura Home in Ventura. She was born in Hancock County and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Bart Moran; a stepdaughter, Kandi Ashby of Ventura; one sister, Elizabeth Ogle Stephens of Hawesville; eight nephews; and two nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville. Visitation is from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Johnnie Nevil Hill Jr.
29 January 1999

BREMEN - Johnnie Nevil Hill Jr., 52, of Bremen died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born in Ohio County, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a former cab driver.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Tyree Hill; two sons, Scott Hill of Springfield, Ill., and Greg Hill of Bowling Green; two daughters, Christel Graham of Gallatin, Tenn., and Angel Hill of Bowling Green; two stepsons, Ricky Pointer and George Pointer, both of Bremen; seven grandchildren; his mother, Emogene Hill of Hartford; five brothers, Jerry Hill of Illinois, Tommy Hill of Hartford, Kenny Hill of Indiana, Roger Hill of Bowling Green and Donald Hill of Beechmont; and three sisters, Frieda Stewart and Gracie Daugherty, both of Hartford, and Martha Kessinger of Morgantown.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Grant Haynes
29 January 1999

Robert Grant Haynes, 61, of 5140 Jones Road, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. He was born in Fordsville and retired as a supervisor from the maintenance division of Alcoa. He attended Relevant Faith Church in Owensboro and Ensor Masonic Lodge No. 729 F&AM, where he was a former master. He collected guns and tractors and enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Caroline Vance Haynes; four daughters, Julie Ann Caudill of Hanson, Michelle Edwards of Owensboro, Karin Beth Roberts of Maceo and Erika Kathleen Massie of Whitesville; nine grandchildren; a brother, James Haynes of Whiting, Ind.; and a sister, Bettye Smith of Dundee.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to American Diabetes Association, 1941 Bishop Lane, Suite 110, Louisville, KY 40218. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

James E. Garrett
29 January 1999

HOPKINSVILLE - James Edgar "Peanut" Garrett, 69, of Hopkinsville died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville from natural causes. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Glennie Rager Garrett; a son, Mike Garrett of Christian County; two daughters, Wanda Faye Bradley of Owensboro and Linda Craft of Hopkinsville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, George Garrett of New Port Richey, Fla.; and two sisters, Margie Sweeney of Christian County and Almanell McKinney of Lewisburg.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Montaze Byrum
29 January 1999

Montaze Byrum, 79, of Lewisport died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Heartland Villa Nursing Home in Lewisport. She was born in Edenton, N.C., retired as a cashier from Greyhound Bus Lines in Norfolk, Va., and was a member of Ballards Bridge Baptist Church in Chowan County, N.C.

Survivors include two sons, James Edward Byrum and Dana Lee Byrum, both of Chesapeake, Va.; a daughter, Doris Krahwinkel of Utica; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at Ballards Bridge Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ballards Bridge Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Private visitation was held Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Evans Funeral Home in Edenton is in charge of arrangements in North Carolina.

Phillip Leroy McDonald
31 January 1999

Phillip Leroy McDonald, 59, of 814 E. Seventh St., Owensboro, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Sturgis, was formerly employed at Kentucky Concrete Pipe Co. and was a member of Sweeney Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy McDonald and Gregory Hayden, both of Owensboro; three daughters, Tracey McFarland and Teresa Lee, both of Lexington, and Tonya Green of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren; seven brothers, Joe Nathan McDonald, Porter McDonald Jr., Eddie Mike McDonald, Hubert McDonald and Charles McDonald, all of Louisville, William McDonald of Chicago and Daryl McDonald of Columbia, S.C.; his companion, Barbara McDonald; one aunt; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are pending at McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro.

Mary Elizabeth Wilkins
30 January 1999

CENTRAL CITY - Mary Elizabeth Wilkins, 77, of Central City died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a homemaker and was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Central City.

Survivors include her husband, Lemuel Wilkins; two daughters, Betty Lou Millard of Central City and Barbara Ann Toombs of Bremen; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, J.E. Rhoads of Central City; and two sisters, Mae Wiggins and Guyneth Stovall, both of Central City.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cherry Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Christina Heather Thompson
30 January 1999

Christina Heather Thompson, 30, of Owensboro, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in Breckinridge County from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born in Chicago and was a waitress at Pizza Hut.

Survivors include a son, Shawn Burton of Beaver Dam; her mother, Elisa Dianna Thompson of Lewisburg; two brothers, Michael Ray Thompson of Gibsonville, Ohio, and Scott Tyler Thompson of Clifty; her adopted brother, Damon Thompson of Lewisburg; a sister, Tammy Elizabeth Belt of Douglasville, Ga.; four nephews; and four nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Wiley's Chapel Methodist Church in Logan County. Burial will be in Wiley's Chapel cemetery in Logan County. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg and after 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Lucille W. Taylor
30 January 1999

GREENVILLE - Lucille W. Taylor, 81, of Greenville died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville of natural causes. She was born in Todd County and was a member of Emberry Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Holbert Taylor, in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Latham of Greenville; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will be in Heltsley cemetery in Clifty. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Patty Lee Moore
30 January 1999

LEWISBURG - Patty Lee Moore, 70, of Lewisburg died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Temple Hill, was a homemaker and was a member of Pleasant Union General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Loyd Moore.

Survivors include a son, Donnie Moore of Pineapple, Ala.; four daughters, Penny Sadler and Mary Roberts, both of Russellville, Lisa Husk of Lewisport and Lena Gibson of Vine Grove; and nine grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Union General Baptist Church in Logan County. Burial will be in Wiley's Chapel cemetery in Logan County. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Bobby L. Oliver
12 February 1999

DIXON - Bobby L. Oliver, 54, of Dixon died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. He was born in Owensboro.

Survivors include two brothers, Herman Oliver of Dixon and Jackie D. Oliver of Sullivan, Ind.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Iron Ore cemetery in Yelvington. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Bobby L. Oliver Memorial Fund. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Erma Mae Reynolds Dorsey
30 January 1999

Erma Mae Reynolds Dorsey, 91, of 530 Yale Place, Owensboro, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Daviess County, was employed at Ken-Rad in the office and was a former member of Rushing Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member of the 12:15 Club, and was a longtime member of the Women's Club, where she was elected honorary member in 1998. She was a longtime member of United Methodist Women and held several district and local offices, including treasurer. Her husband, Mack R. Dorsey, died June 17, 1960.

Survivors include one nephew and three nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Brushy Fork cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
