Gerald Everett Hagerman Sr.
28 April 1999

Gerald Everett Hagerman Sr., 79, of 112 Stockton Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County and was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church in Owensboro. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired as a mechanic from Automotive Inc. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and going to ballgames. A son Dr. Gerald Everett Hagerman Jr. died Feb. 16, 1999.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Corene Abney Hagerman; two sons, Randall Hagerman and Jerry W. Hagerman, both of Owensboro; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carroll Hagerman of Falls of Rough; and three sisters, Lodine Hayden, Hazel Wilson and Regina Jennings, all of Owensboro.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Rayborn Dotson
28 April 1999

Rayborn Dotson, 78, of 1651 W. Fourth St., Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born in Rumsey, was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Capital C. Blueprint.

Survivors include a sister, Bonnie Parks of Kuttawa; four nephews; and one niece.

There will be no services or visitation. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Robert O. Burch
28 April 1999

Robert Oswald Burch, 80, of Whitesville died Monday, April 26, 1999, at his home. He was born in Daviess County and was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he was a radarman first class on USS Cumberland Sound AV17 and was an All-Navy Heavyweight Boxing Division contender. He was formerly employed by Studebaker automaker in South Bend, Ind., for 17 years; owned Burch Mechanics in Michigan until his retirement; and after his retirement, he helped to renovate the Whitesville Senior Citizens building. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, where he served as an eucharistic minister. He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Christopher Burch and Sonny Burch; and a daughter, Anne Marie Burch.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Hellen Burch; four sons, David Allen Burch of Arlington, Texas, Robert Lowell Burch of Niles, Mich., Joseph Alfred Burch of Wichita, Kan., and Thomas Anthony Burch of Union, Mich.; five daughters, Rose Mariam Hoff of Kansas City, Mo., Agnes Lorene Farr and Rebecca Ann Dehring, both of Niles, Elizabeth Janelle Hall of Walhalla, Mich., and Mary Cecelia Wood of Acworth, Ga.; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Earl Burch of Chino Valley, Ariz., Eugene Burch of Yuma, Ariz., and Donald Burch of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and four sisters, Evelyn O'Bryan of Cherry Valley, Calif., Merle Howard of Murray, Margaret Rockwell of Yuba City, Calif., and Betty Orias of Salem, Ore.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church Building Fund or Trinity High School. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Terrance Dawson Speaks
27 April 1999

Terrance Dawson "Spike" Speaks, 59, of 1010 Breckenridge St., Owensboro, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. He was born in Owensboro, was a Korean War veteran and was formerly employed by Perdue Farms. He was a member of Center Street Baptist Church in Owensboro and enjoyed pitching horseshoes and playing cards.

Survivors include four sons, Courtney Walls of Detroit, Tyrone Browning of Bloomington, Ind., and Terrance B. Speaks and Keylon Shorts, both of Owensboro; three daughters, Shannon Walls of Detroit, Jahauna Lynn Nurse of Lexington and Tanya Carter of Owensboro; six grandchildren; a sister, Annetta Owsley of Owensboro; several nephews and nieces; several cousins; and his companion, Debra Phillips of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Center Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro.

Jesse Lee Hawley
25 April 1999

LEXINGTON - Jesse Lee Hawley, 84, of Lexington, formerly of Central City, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Lewisport and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn., and retired as superintendent of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co.

Survivors include his wife, Rosetta Rossi Hawley; three sons, Stephen Gabriel Hawley of Culpeper, Va., Gary Lee Hawley of Lexington and Larry Warren Hawley of Conyers, Ga.; three daughters, Norma Jean Adams of N. Augusta, S.C., Lois Kay McHan of Roopville, Ga., and Martha Faye Lackey of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Ruby Mayfield of Hawesville.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Barbara A. Adkins
28 April 1999

Barbara A. Adkins, 63, of Hawesville died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at her home. She was born in Cloverport, retired as a custodian from Hancock County School Corp. after 16 years and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hawesville.

Survivors include her husband, J.D. Adkins Sr.; six sons, Jerry Adkins, Mitchell Adkins, Brian Adkins and Todd Adkins, all of Hawesville, Johnny Adkins Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Spencer Adkins of Yelvington; a daughter, Lisa Adkins of Lewisport; 16 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cleona Niles of West View and Nellie Wilson of West Virginia; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Burial will be in Serenity Hills cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bessie McPherson
27 April 1999

GREENVILLE - Bessie McPherson, 88, of Greenville died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville after a lengthy illness. She was born in Muhlenberg County and was a member of Greenville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McPherson.

Survivors include several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery in Todd County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jane McReynolds Metz
4 May 1999

Jane McReynolds Metz, 78, of 3603 Trafalgar Court, Owensboro, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born in Bend, Ore., was a homemaker and was a seamstress and a weaver. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Owensboro, where she was a member of the St. Martha's, St. Elizabeth's and Altar guilds; was a founding member of the Owensboro Doll Club, where she was a secretary and president; and was a member of the Faculty Wives at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, the Rev. Dr. Wayne N. Metz; four sons, Michael G. Metz of Omaha, Neb., Gary N. Metz of Raleigh, N.C., Robert W. Metz of Owensboro and Jonathon A. Metz of Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 720 Ford Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301, or Hospice Association of Owensboro, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301. George A. Harris

SACRAMENTO - George A. Harris, 76, of Sacramento died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in McLean County, retired as a truck driver from the Kentucky Department of Highways and was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rickard Harris; a daughter, Sheila Lee of Sacramento; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, William G. Harris of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Burial will be in Sacramento Methodist cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Samuel E. Hall
25 April 1999

Samuel E. Hall, 66, of 1931 East 21st St., Owensboro, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was born in Owensboro, was an Army and Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict and retired from Western Kentucky Gas in 1989. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 130, Kentucky Wesleyan All American Club and the U.S. Chess Federation and was a former member of the Optimist Club. He enjoyed chess and was active in youth sports. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Matthews Hall, on May 30, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Robert Dwayne Hall of Owensboro; a daughter, Kelley Louise Allen of Owensboro; two grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Hall and Steven Hall, both of Owensboro; three sisters, Shirley Roberts, Jo Ann Hinton and Dana Baxter, all of Owensboro.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either the American Heart Association, 920 Frederica St., Suite 308, Owensboro, KY 42301; or the American Cancer Society, 2229-A New Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303-1308. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Patie Mae Horsley
27 April 1999

LOUISVILLE - Patie Mae Tucker Horsley, 94, of Louisville died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born in Breckinridge County and retired as a buyer from Simmons department store. She was a member of Beechmont United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens Friendship Club, both in Louisville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Horsley.

Survivors include two brothers, Bob G. Tucker and Willard K. Tucker, both of Owensboro; and a sister, Thelma Carrico of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. EDT today at Evergreen Chapel in Louisville. Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum in Louisville. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon EDT today at Nunnelley Funeral Home in Louisville.

Douglas Ray Kincaid
4 May 1999

PASADENA, Texas - Douglas Ray Kincaid, 53, of Pasadena died Friday, April 30, 1999, in Galveston, Texas. He was born in Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Kincaid.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Carlton Kincaid of Vincennes, Ind.; two stepsons, John Kolenda and Dean Kolenda, both of Pasadena; two stepdaughters, Pam King and Corinna Kolenda, both of Pasadena; nine grandchildren; his mother, Emma Sue Kincaid of Owensboro; three brothers, Randall Kingkade Sr. of Utica, Michael Kincaid of Reynolds Station and William Kincaid of Owensboro; and four sisters, Margaret Conkright, Evelyn Horn and Ruth McKeown, all of Utica, and Betty Gabbard of Owensboro.

Graveside services are at noon today at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas. Visitation is from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Pasadena Funeral Chapel.
