Virginia Mae Clark
26 January 1999

Virginia Mae Clark, 76, of 2420 W. Third St., Owensboro, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born in Owensboro and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, 1836 W. Fifth St., Owensboro. She was formerly employed by Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital, was a former assistant administrator of Parkview Nursing Home and was a former private duty nurse. Her husband, Harry Edward Clark, died Jan. 28, 1997.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Clark, Marvin Clark and David Clark, all of Owensboro; three daughters, Peggy Wimsatt of Minerva, Ohio, Jackie Tipton of Owensboro and Becky Purcell of Lewisport; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Church of God of Prophecy, 1836 W. Fifth St., Owensboro, KY 42301. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Myrtle Cobb Cartwright
26 January 1999

CALHOUN - Myrtle Cobb Cartwright, 59, of Calhoun died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in McLean County, was a homemaker and attended Pentecostals of McLean Church in Calhoun.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Cartwright of Rumsey and Boyd Cartwright of Calhoun; three grandchildren; two brothers, Willard Cobb of Calhoun and Norton Cobb of Rumsey; and three sisters, Price Ande, Nellie Donahoo and Marie Cissna, all of Calhoun.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Myrtle Cobb Cartwright Memorial Fund, c/o Muster Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 160, Calhoun, KY 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Milton Board
26 January 1999

HARDINSBURG - Milton Board, 80, of Hardinsburg died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. He was born in Breckinridge County, was a World War II veteran and was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg. He was a farmer and a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Hinton Board; a son, Larry Board of Columbus, Ga.; four daughters, Juanita Bowers of Fairmont, W.Va., Shirley Dunn of Brandenburg, Lois Morgan of Harned and Brenda Elder of Stephensport; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Romuald Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Romuald cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bonnie Mae Harris
4 April 1999

WHITE PLAINS - Bonnie Mae Harris, 74, of White Plains died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. She was born in Hopkins County, was a member of Madisonville General Baptist Church and was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, J.V. Harris; two sons, Danny Harris of Madisonville and Bobby Harris of Crossville, Ala.; two daughters, Lisa Stokes of White Plains and Linda Liberto of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, R.L. Duncan of Madisonville and the Rev. C.W. Duncan of Greenville; and a sister, Betty Workman of Hopkinsville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville. Interrment will be in Concord cemetery in White Plains. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mary Ann Ward
28 January 1999

Mary Ann Ward, 47, of 5435 Lane Road, Owensboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Daviess County, was manager of Franey's Food Mart on Kentucky 54 and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Owensboro. She enjoyed watching her children play sports, especially softball and baseball. A son Michael T. Ward died in 1990.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Robert R. "Bob" Ward; a son, Bobby Ward III at home; four daughters, Heather Ward, Christy Ward, Sarah Ward and Katie Ward, all at home; her mother, Mary T. Payne of Owensboro; and three brothers, Ronald Payne of Owensboro, Robert "Bubba" Payne of Philpot and Thomas W. Payne of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.

Services are at noon Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to The Ward Children, c/o Robert R. Ward, 5435 Lane Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Linda Tyler Thurman
28 January 1999

Linda Tyler Thurman, 55, of 4794 Winkler Road, Philpot, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at her home. She was born in Owensboro, was formerly employed by Great Financial Mortgage Co. in Owensboro and was a member of Dawson Baptist Church in Philpot. She enjoyed bible study, gardening and reading. Her son, John Thomas Thurman, died March 1981.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, John K. Thurman; and a daughter, Michelle Thurman at home.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Green Brier cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either Dawson Baptist Church, 5880 Kentucky 54, Philpot, KY 42366 or Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301-9979. John Guy Smith
28 January 1999

GREENVILLE - John Guy Smith, 81, of Greenville died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Muhlenberg County and was a member of New Paradise Baptist Church in Greenville. He was a retired Baptist minister and he also retired as a coal miner from Peabody Coal Co. His wife, Olive Smith, died January 1998.

Survivors include a sister, Rose Humberd of Sacramento, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vonnie Ray Richardson
28 January 1999

LEITCHFIELD - Vonnie Ray Richardson, 96, of Leitchfield, formerly of Owensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield. She was born in Grayson County, was a member of Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Leitchfield and a perpetual member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lannie Richardson.

Survivors include a son, Murrell L. Richardson of Leitchfield; two daughters, Mary Nell Graham and Edna Horrell, both of Leitchfield; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Brooks Ramsey of Leitchfield; and a sister, Delores Carter of Illinois.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church cemetery in Leitchfield. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the home of Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either the Organ Fund or cemetery Fund of Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Charles T. Kays

CLOVERPORT - Charles T. Kays, 78, of Cloverport died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. He was born in Spencer County, Ky., and retired as a heavy equipment operator from J.A. Jones Construction Co. of Charlotte, N.C. He was a member of Cloverport Baptist Church and International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 181 at Henderson.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Mingus Miller Kays; a daughter, Charlene May of Vevay, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Bettye Jean Embry of Cloverport; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roy D. Kays and Hubert Kays, both of Louisville, and James Kays of Salt Lake City; and two sisters, Katherine Armstrong and Lillian Hubbard, both of Louisville.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Cloverport Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cloverport cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Friday at Wallace Funeral Home in Cloverport. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Cloverport Baptist Church Building Fund. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Rebecca 'Becca' Ann Jackson
28 January 1999

HERNDON - Rebecca "Becca" Ann Jackson, 4, of Herndon died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., after a brief illness. She was born in Nashville and attended Herndon United Methodist Church with her parents.

Survivors include her parents, Ray Jr. and Sharon Jackson of Herndon; her twin sister, Scooter Jackson of Herndon; her paternal grandfather, Ray Jackson Sr. of Owensboro; and her maternal grandparents, William and Eula Dockery of Herndon.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Burial will be in Powell cemetery in LaFayette. Visitation is after noon today at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Rebecca Jackson Memorial Fund, c/o Star Bank, ATTN: Patricia Miller, 3213 LaFayette Road, Hopkinsville, KY 42240. Howard Bartram
28 January 1999

Howard Bartram, 75, of 2255 Burton Road, Utica, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Chattaroy, W.Va.; was an Army veteran in World War II, where he served in a reconnaissance operation as staff sergeant; and retired as an electronic technician from General Electric Co. after 27 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Owensboro and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, bird watching and metal detecting.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Tucker Bartram; a son, Larry Wayne Bartram of Stanley; two daughters, Barbara Ballard of Stanley and Charlotte Murphy of Philpot; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gay McCallister of Waukegan, Ill.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Philpot. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Clinton 'Buddy' Fox
21 March 1999

Clinton "Buddy" Fox, 62, of 2300 Carter Road, Owensboro, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born in Princeton and was an Air Force veteran. He retired as First Mate from Ingram Barge Lines and later was a security guard at the Valley Institute of Psychiatry.

Survivors include three sisters, Pearl Keelin, Ruth Morris and Sara Frances Morris, all of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be Cedar Hill cemetery in Princeton. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
