CENTRAL CITY -- Lovie Nell Lile, 79, of Central City died Friday, March 3, 2000, at her home. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a housewife and was a member of Mercer Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, David Lile of Bremen, James Lile of Evansville and Donnie Lile of Central City; a daughter, Linda LeGrand of Powderly; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carrie Williams of Greenville.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Eva Mae Stuart Hayden
5 March 2000

Eva Mae Stuart Hayden, 72, of Philpot died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a retired office clerk from V.E. Anderson Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Harvest Baptist Temple. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gospel singing, listening to preaching on the radio and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Eugene Hayden, in 1952.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charles E. Hayden; two sons, Charles Alan Hayden and Michael Wayne Hayden, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Stewart of Owensboro and Shannon Elaine Millay of Philpot; five grandchildren; a brother, Lendle Stuart of Owensboro; two sisters, Erma Hardison and Isabell Coy, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 3 p.m. Monday at Harvest Baptist Temple in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.

Martha Ann Cook
8 March 2000

Martha Ann Cook, 66, of 817 Gardenside Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at her home. She was born in Daviess County, retired from Whitehall Furniture Co. after 16 years and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Frederick L. Cook; three sons, Scott Cook, Keith Cook and Terry W. Cook, all of Owensboro; two daughters, Billie J. Spence and Mary Lou Cook, both of Owensboro; a stepson, Marty Cook; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Trogden and Paul Ray Trogden, both of Owensboro, and Donnie Trogden of Michigan; and three sisters, Mary "Sissie" Jackson and Carolyn Wilkins, both of Owensboro, and Linda Crafton of Keego Harbor, Mich.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens mausoleum. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 7:15 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice Association of Owensboro, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Norma Sue Dossett

SACRAMENTO -- Norma Sue Dossett, 47, of Sacramento died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Lakeview Healthcare in Morgantown. She was born in Fort Campbell and was a member of Sacramento First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Norman and Susie Dossett of Sacramento; a brother, Dr. Jon M. Dossett of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two nephews.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacramento First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sacramento Methodist cemetery. Visitation is at 5 p.m. Friday at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Sacramento Methodist cemetery Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Sylvester Drake
15 March 2000

CHICAGO -- Sylvester Drake, 76, of Chicago, formerly of Central City, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at his home. He was retired from American National Can Co. and was a Catholic.

Survivors include two brothers, Jesse Drake of Los Angeles and Roosevelt Drake of Chicago; a sister, Mary Jackson of Reston, Va.; four nephews and five nieces; an aunt; and several cousins.

Services are at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bibbs' Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Sunday at West End cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Natalie Williams Ashby
18 March 2000

SLAUGHTERS -- Natalie Williams Ashby, 92, of Slaughters died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Madisonville. She was a lifetime resident of Slaughters and was a 50-year member of Slaughters United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a choir member. Her husband, Harry E. Ashby, died in 1970.

Survivors include two sons, Norman H. "Bud" Ashby of Greenville and H. Glenn Ashby of Slaughters; a daughter, Shirley Carnal of Hopkinsville; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Sunday at Tompkins Slaughters-Hansen Chapel. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery.

Clifford H. Travis
13 October 1999

CENTRAL CITY -- Clifford H. Travis, 62, of Central City died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was of the Baptist faith and was a retired coal miner.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Johnson Travis; five sons, Robert McCravy, Terry Travis and Glen Travis all of Central City, Ricky Travis of Chicago and Johnny Travis of Utica; a daughter, Karen Tenorio of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Ray Travis of Beechmont; and five sisters, Birdie Dale Robertson and Christine Livingston, both of California, Lucille Bolan of Clinton, Ill., Mae Knight of Elkton and Dorothy Rice of Greenville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ena Henry
18 May 2000

BEAVER DAM -- Ena Henry, 94, of Beaver Dam died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Ohio County Hospital. She was born in Ohio County, was a homemaker and was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. Henry, in 1995; and a son, Virgil Lewis Henry, in 1997.

Survivors include a grandson; and a nephew.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Zora 'Jude' Hudnall

MORGANTOWN -- Zora "Jude" Hudnall, 83, of Morgantown died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. She was born in Butler County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Rock Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1298 auxiliary and was past president of Butler County Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hudnall; by a son, Larry Hudnall; and by a daughter, Sue Hudnall.

Survivors include three sons, Danny O. Hudnall of Morgantown and Mike Hudnall and Thomas C. "Timmy" Hudnall, both of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hubert McCoy of Otisco, Ind., and Willard McCoy of Louisville; a sister, Mae Lou Belcher of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church in Butler County. Burial will be in Union cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown.

Nellie Wheatley
10 May 2000

Nellie Wheatley, 93, of 1815 Leitchfield Road, Owensboro, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born in Daviess County, was a member of SS. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, crafts and making dolls. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wheatley, in 1975; and by three sons, Robert Wheatley, James Wheatley and Joe Wheatley.

Survivors include five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at SS. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 2229-A New Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Norma Ruth Dizney Adkins

CENTRAL CITY -- Norma Ruth Dizney Adkins, 77, of Central City died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born in Gray, retired as a bookkeeper for R.C. Bottling Co. in Central City after 35 years and was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church. Her husband of 60 years, Willard "Bosco" Adkins, died Jan. 14, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Glenn Adkins of Stamping Ground; two daughters, Ruth Ann Logsdon of Central City and Linda Noe of Louisville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Ball of Harlan; and an aunt.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hazel Powers Adkins
26 May 2000

Hazel Powers Adkins, 77, of 2747 South Hampton Road, Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Hancock County and was a member of Parrish Avenue Baptist Church. Her husband, Emuel Spencer Adkins, died Feb. 26, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Larry David Adkins of Mississippi; a daughter, Diana Head of Owensboro; three grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; three great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; two brothers, Don Powers and Shirley "Doc" Powers, both of Owensboro; and five sisters, Mary Douglas Nugent, Margie Keown and Carolyn Carter, all of Owensboro, Fredia Devine of Nashville and Gladys Malone of Tell City, Ind.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
