BEWLEYVILLE -- Elbert C. Bandy, 87, of Bewleyville died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at his home. He was born in Breckinridge County, was the retired owner/operator of Bandy's General Store in Bewleyville and was a member of Bewleyville United Methodist Church. His wife, Lorene Claycomb Bandy, died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Jim Bandy of Bewleyville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy Bandy of Irvington and Jess Bandy of Bewleyville.

Services are at noon Wednesday at Bewleyville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery in Irvington. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Bewleyville United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Letitia Doble Rader

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Letitia Doble Rader, 78, of Franklin, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at National Healthcare of Franklin. She was born in Washington, D.C. She was a board member of The Salvation Army, was a member of Fleur de Lis Garden Club and Hospital Guild, was twice president of the Girl Scout Council and was Alpha Omega Pi Alumni Chairman at Kentucky Wesleyan College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Owensboro, was president of the Women of the Church, and was a member of Honorary Life Membership for Presbyterian Women.

Survivors include two daughters, Letitia C. Wissman and Stevie Waltrip, both of Franklin; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, John E. Doble of Darien, Conn.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Community Church Chapel in Franklin and at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1915 Glen Echo Road, Nashville, TN 37215 or to The Salvation Army, 215 Ewing Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Mabel Dockery
5 August 2000

SACRAMENTO -- Mabel Dockery, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at her son's home in Sacramento after a lengthy illness. She was born in Ohio County and was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. Her husband, Arlan Dockery, died in 1986.

Survivors include four sons, Henry Dockery of Bremen, Owen Dockery of Graham, Cader Dockery of Sacramento and Donald Dockery of Greenville; a daughter, Jewell Phillips of Sacramento; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a half brother, Arie Bishop Meadows of Scottsville; and a half sister, Mary McDaniels of Rockford, Ill.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery.

Robert B. Barrett
7 August 2000

BEAVER DAM -- Robert B. Barrett, 65, of Beaver Dam died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in Beaver Dam. He was born in Ohio County, retired from Peabody Coal Co. in Ohio County, was an Army veteran and was a member of Liberty United Methodist church near Beaver Dam.

Survivors include a son, John Robert Barrett of Carmel, Ind.; a daughter, Robin Watson of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren; his mother, Eula Rhea Barrett of Beaver Dam; three brothers, William J. Barrett and John D. "Jack" Barrett, both of Beaver Dam and Kenneth R. Barrett of Lexington; a sister, Sandra Taylor of Beaver Dam; and two nephews and three nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County.

James C. 'Jimmy' Hudson
16 October 2000

James C. "Jimmy" Hudson, 30, of 2220 Venetian Way, Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. The Daviess County native worked at Whirlpool Corp. for nine years. He was a member of New Life Worship Center where he worked with the youth program and graduated from Daviess County High School.

Survivors include his wife of nine years, Amy Nicole Hudson; a daughter, Emily Nicole Hudson at home; his parents, Jerry and Judy Hudson of Owensboro; his grandparents, Bill and Elsie Main and Anna Sue Hudson, all of Owensboro; and a brother, Jerry Paul Hudson of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Frank M. Cartwright
15 October 2000

NELSON CREEK -- Frank M. Cartwright, 84, of Nelson Creek died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Butler County native was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Gearl Deen Cartwright; three daughters, Janice F. Taylor of Madisonville and Brenda S. Mayhugh and Pam Arnold, both of Nelson Creek; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Hazel Abner, Francis Caldwell and Lucille Neal, all of Louisville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Herman E. Floyd
15 October 2000

The Rev. Herman E. Floyd, 63, of Owensboro died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The St. Louis native was pastor of Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church, past president of NAACP and received a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana Central; Bachelor of Theology from Central Theological Seminary; Doctorate of Divinity from Simmons University; and Who's Who American Baptist Pastors. He was a member of General Baptist Association and Baptist Unified Christian Fellowship. He was preceded in death by a son, Herman E. Floyd Jr., in March 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita "Katie" Floyd; three sons, Dwayne E. Floyd of Stafford, Va., Jerome J. Floyd of Cincinnati and Antwan D. Floyd of Nashville; four daughters, Beverly J. Floyd-Jones, Goldie M. Lewis and Sherri C. Johnson, all of Kokomo, Ind., and Lakisha M. Floyd of Evansville; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Lewis of Kokomo; and three sisters, Lorraine Solomon of Kokomo, Ocie Bridges of Orlando, Fla., and Joe Linnie Collins of Battle Creek, Mich.

Services are at 12:01 p.m. Tuesday at Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church with special tribute services from 6 to 7 p.m. McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro is handling arrangements.

Ricardo 'Killa X' Fountain
15 October 2000

Ricardo J. Fountain, 44, of 1017 W. Eighth St., Owensboro, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native retired from Wasco Construction Co., was a Vietnam veteran and was a member of Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church. He was a former member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing poker, visiting with friends and sports.

Survivors include his fiancee, Lisa Hall of Owensboro; two sons, Mickal Luckett of Henderson and Ricardo Moorman of Owensboro; a daughter, Courtney D. Howard of Owensboro; his father, W.N. Fountain of Owensboro; two brothers, Gregory Fountain and William "Billy" Fountain, both of Owensboro; a sister, Norma "Kitten" Cox of Owensboro; several nephews and nieces; four uncles and six aunts; and several cousins.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro.

Mary Frances Hancock
15 October 2000

WAVERLY -- Mary Frances Hancock, 79, of Waverly died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Morganfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Union County native was a graduate of St. Vincent Academy in 1937, where she was salutatorian and an art and music major and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Waverly.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Irvin Hancock; four sons, Bob Hancock of Omaha, Neb., Bill Hancock of Cincinnati, Joe Hancock of Owensboro and Denis Hancock of Morganfield; a daughter, Carolyn Marren of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Jean Wathen of Morganfield.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Waverly. Burial will be in St. Peter cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Huston Simmons
15 October 2000

Huston Simmons, 78, of 2105 Griffith Ave., Owensboro, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at his home. The Daviess County native was a retired farmer and a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was a former member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and graduated from West Louisville High School.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Catherine I. Simmons; seven sons, Joe Simmons, Tom Simmons and Bob Simmons, all of Owensboro, Danny Simmons of Utica, Jerry Simmons and Kenny Simmons, both of West Louisville and David Simmons of Uniontown; five daughters, Ann Gordon of Maceo, Faye Gardner of Louisville, Patricia Watkins and DeLores Smith, both of Owensboro and Cathy Maddox of Henderson; 26 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; a stepgreat-great-grandchild; a brother, W.C. Simmons of Owensboro; and three sisters, Aliene Abel, Rosita Blandford and Marie Nunley, all of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Clinton David Vance
7 January 2000

HARTFORD -- Clinton David Vance, 22, of Hartford died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Beaver Dam from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born in Daviess County and was disabled.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Kathi and Jay Durham of Owensboro; his stepmother, Dorothy Vance of Hartford; paternal grandparents, Charles Vance of Hartford and Winona Vance of Fordsville; maternal grandparents, Rosalie Cavender of Owensboro, and James Cavender; a brother, Josh Vance of Hartford; a stepbrother, Dustin Stewart of Hartford; a sister, Calah Vance of Hartford; two stepsisters, Leslie Minton and Jessica Durham, both of Cromwell; several uncles; several aunts; and several cousins.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lillis Tanner

FORDSVILLE -- Lillis Tanner, 88, of Fordsville died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Breckinridge County native was a member of Goshen Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Lottis Tanner of Lewisport; two brothers, Lovel Phillips of Fordsville and Charles Phillips Sr. of Falls of Rough; and a sister, Hallie Phillips Pierce of Glen Dean.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Glen Dean cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
