BEAVER DAM -- Mildred Wade, 91, of Beaver Dam died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Ohio County native was a homemaker and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Wade, on March 2, 1964; and a daughter, Lana Bernard, on Jan. 11, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Charles B. Johnson of Cromwell; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Yvonne C. Hayden

BOWLING GREEN -- Yvonne C. Hayden, 59, of Bowling Green, formerly of Owensboro, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. The Bowling Green native was a member of Warren Way Church of God and co-owner of Yvonne's Cleaning Service.

Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Hayden; three sons, Danny W. Poteet and Terry R. Poteet, both of Bowling Green, and Gary B. Poteet of Somerset; a daughter, Donna K. Poteet of Brownsville; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy Stamps and Robert Ainslie of Bremen, Ga.; three sisters, Sandra Entrekin of Tallapoosa, Ga., Dianne Stoker of Memphis and Reland Norton of Bremen, Ga.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jewel Mae Hall

CENTRAL CITY -- Jewel Mae Hall, 68, of Central City died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a housewife and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her companion, Ray Foster; four sons, Tommy Hall of Bremen, Robert Hall of New York, David Hall of Greenville and Thomas Hall of Nonnell; four daughters, Carolyn Billings and Claudia Franklin, both of Bremen, Sandy McCormick of Crofton and Betty Holskey of Sacramento; a stepdaughter, Cathy Myers of Jacksonville, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tom Preston of Salem, Ill., Ronnie Pointer of Moorman and Gary Pointer of Central City; and three sisters, Jo Ann Garrett of Central City, Jean Taylor of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Betty Dunn of Madisonville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Brian Lee Harned

LEITCHFIELD -- Brian Lee Harned, 2, of Leitchfield, formerly of Breckinridge County, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield from injuries sustained in a house fire. He was born in Elizabethtown.

Survivors include his parents, Scott Harned of Muldraugh and Mendy Harned of Hudson; his grandparents, Cheryl and Chuck Taul of Harned, Lyndall and Hilma Harned of Ashland and Lonard and Joyce Horsley of Hudson; his great-grandparents, Ruby Lucas and Bertha Horsley, both of Hudson, Anita Schafer of Ashland, Brenda and John Carlberg of Muldraugh, Delano and Clara Rose Harned of Custer, Charles and Bernice Taul of Harned and Dale and Midge Edge of Hardinsburg; and his great-great-grandparents, Vaniah Wade and William Taul, both of Hardinsburg.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Brian Harned Memorial Fund c/o Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.

Ervin W. Sauls
24 January 2001

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Ervin W. Sauls, 85, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001. The Maco, N.C., native served in the Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II. He also served in the Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Sauls and Albert Sauls, both of Jacksonville; a daughter, Jane Sauls Vinelli of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Winifred S. Miller of Utica; and several nephews and nieces.

Graveside services were Jan. 8 at Evergreen cemetery in Jacksonville. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville handled arrangements.

Cecil E. Gill
25 January 2001

Cecil E. Gill, 72, of 1242 Wayside Drive East, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001. The Chester, W.Va., native retired from Copperweld Steel Co. in Warren, Ohio, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, the Woodlawners and Young at Heart Sunday school class. He was a member of Golden Partners, Elizabeth Munday Senior Center and Disabled American Veterans. His wife, Betty M. Gill, died Nov. 30, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Mark E. Gill of Franklin, Pa., and Gregory E. Gill of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Louise Osborne of Owensboro and Deborah M. Gill of Painesville, Ohio; a grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard K. Gill of Champion, Ohio, and Gerald E. Gill of Dawmont, W.Va.; and two sisters, Donna Cromley and Patricia Jewell, both of Champion.

Services are at 9:30 a.m. EST Saturday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home chapel in Warren. Burial will be in Champion Township cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is handling local arrangements.

Anthony Gambrel

BEAVER DAM -- Anthony Gambrel, 81, of Beaver Dam died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Knox County native worked for Peabody Coal Co. at Ken Underground Mine. He was a Baptist and a member of the U.M.W.A. Local 1543.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Mills "Sally" Gambrel; a foster daughter, Janice Manasco of Beaver Dam; two foster grandchildren; a brother, Finley Gambrel of Corbin; a sister, Laura Wagoner of Pineville; a nephew and three nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Virginia Moss 'Ginny' Humphrey Gray

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Virginia Moss "Ginny" Humphrey Gray, 67, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Calhoun, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at her daughter's home. The Owensboro native was a nurse at Blodgett Hospital for 14 years. She was a 1951 graduate of Calhoun High School and a Baptist. She was a volunteer for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Cancer Society, enjoyed collecting Victorian era memorabilia and traveling. A daughter, Gina Gray Surline, died Feb. 12, 1992.

Survivors include her husband, Ural R. "Ray" Gray; two daughters, Lana Maksymowski and Dena Oyler, both of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 20 at Daylight Ministries in Grand Rapids. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.

Wiley Hulsey
26 January 2001

Wiley Hulsey, 90, of 5110 Essex Drive, Owensboro, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native retired from Fleishman's Distillery. He was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church, was a deacon at Delaware Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Florine Jewell Hulsey; a son, William Hulsey of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a daughter, Bessie Lea Nolan of Owensboro; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Alta Moss and Pauline Faith, both of Owensboro, and Lucile Wahl and Helen Lee Ward, both of Beech Grove.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

J.W. 'Jake' Boyd

ELKTON -- J.W. "Jake" Boyd, 71, of Elkton died there Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Hearthstone Place of natural causes. The Muhlenberg County native was a retired farmer and also retired from the Todd County Board of Education. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Elkton and a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Boyd; a son, Larry Boyd of Elkton; a daughter, Carolyn Boyd of Greenville; a grandson; a brother, Jewell Boyd of Elkton; and a sister, Addie Mae Johnson of Elkton.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Ralph Smith
27 January 2001

CLEATON -- William Ralph Smith, 73, of Cleaton died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Humboldt, Tenn., native had worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo Company.

Survivors include a son, David William Smith of La Crosse, Wis.; four daughters, Victora Sue Cichon and Janet Francis Estes, both of Chicago, Karen Francis Cichon of Evergreen Park, Ill., and Elizabeth Ann Piper of Central City; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Miller cemetery in Cleaton. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mark L. Fulkerson
28 January 2001

Mark L. Fulkerson, 62, of 3731 Frederica Street, Owensboro, died there Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native retired from Tennessee Valley Authority as a belt operator and had served in the army. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 816 in Paducah.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Claudette Holland Fulkerson; a son, Michael Hugh Fulkerson of Owensboro; a daughter, Marla Yeckering of Owensboro; two grandchildren; a brother, Joseph V. Fulkerson of Owensboro; and a halfsister, Martha McCarty of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
