Rachel Wettstain Bray

LEWISPORT -- Rachel Wettstain Bray, 92, of Lewisport, formerly of Hawesville, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at her daughter's home in Owensboro. The Hancock County native was a member of Lewisport Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Wettstain, in 1976; her second husband, Floyd Bray, in 1993; two sons, Raymond Wettstain, in 1989, and Melvin Wettstain, in 2000; and a daughter, Kathryn Ward, in 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Clyde Wettstain Jr. of Evansville and Jimmy Wettstain of Hawesville; three daughters, Dorothy Crowe of Joliet, Ill., Sue Whitsell of Owensboro and Brenda Freyvogel of Lewisport; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Blackford Baptist Church near Hawesville, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and after 6 a.m. Sunday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville.

Donald Ray Noffsinger

CENTRAL CITY -- Donald Ray Noffsinger, 58, of Central City died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The Muhlenberg County native was self-employed in construction and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, John Noffsinger and Danny Noffsinger, both of Central City, Kenneth Noffsinger of Greenville and Allen Noffsinger of Graham; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry Lee Noffsinger, Roy Wayne Noffsinger and Tommy Dale Noffsinger, all of Central City; and four sisters, Bette Jo Patton and Glenda Sue LaRaviere, both of Oak Lawn, Ill., and Carol Ann Elitzer and June Pressley, both of Central City.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnnie Lee Davis
24 January 2001

HENDERSON -- Johnnie Lee Davis, 70, of Henderson died there Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Methodist Hospital. She was a member of the Association for the Deaf in Evansville and in Dallas.

Survivors include her husband, James Davis; a son, Dale Wilkerson of Westminster, Texas; three daughters, Glenda Groenewold of Providence, Barbara Gonzales of Allen, Texas, and Sharon Bell of Oklahoma City; a stepson, Christopher Davis of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Davis of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Shepherd of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and nephews and nieces.

Memorial services are at 5 p.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. There is no visitation.

Edward Louis Peach

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Edward Louis Peach, 37, of Brentwood died Wednesday, Jan., 24, 2001, when a plane he was in crashed at Nashville International Airport. The Owensboro native was a 1981 graduate of Owensboro High School, where he was a National Merit Scholar and football team member. He was an Eagle Scout and had a degree in industrial engineering. He previously worked for Allen Bradley and was a vice president of Amprite Electrical Co. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Faith Anne Peach.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Peach; two daughters, Grace Faye Peach and Marilyn Hope Peach, both at home; his father, Samuel Peach of Owensboro; two brothers, James Samuel Peach and John Paul Peach; three nephews and three nieces; and two uncles.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodmont Christian Church in Nashville. Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapel in Bowling Green is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Peach Children Scholarship Fund, Clearview Baptist Church, 537 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN 37069.

Elijah Campbell
28 January 2001

BEAVER DAM -- Elijah Campbell, 80, of Beaver Dam died there Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at his home. The Perry County native retired from Peabody Coal Company and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. His wife, Gladys Marie Campbell, died March 19, 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Campbell and Brenda Bush, both of Beaver Dam; a grandchild; a brother, Charlie Campbell of Avawam; and two sisters, Cora Couch of Bremen and Ethel Eversole of Beaver Dam.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Howard Louis Brandenburg
29 January 2001

Howard Louis Brandenburg, 73, of 1115 Emerson Court, Owensboro, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at his home. The Lewisport native retired as a heater from Green River Steel. He was an Army veteran, was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed citizens band radio, Kentucky football and basketball, Kentucky Wesleyan College basketball and NASCAR. A daughter, Karen Louise Nance, died in 1993.

Survivors include three daughters, Kim Brandenburg and Marianne Sipes, both of Owensboro, and Kathleen Blumenthal of Jasper, Ind.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Brandenburg of Evansville; and several nephews and nieces.

Memorial services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Owensboro. Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

The Rev. Dr. William G. Walker

The Rev. Dr. William G. Walker, 81, of 3529 Ashlawn Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Cumberland County, Va., native earned a doctorate from Vanderbilt University. He served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, Tenn., from 1952 to 1966 and First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro from 1966 to 1985. He was president of Owensboro Ministerial Association and Owensboro Churches for Better Homes, was a Rotarian and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lynnette H. Walker; a son, William G. Walker Jr. of Austin, Texas; a daughter, the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Gayle Walker of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Bailey of Charlottesville, Va., and Frances Wootton of Burkeville, Va.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund, 1328 Griffith Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Ellis Dick

GREENVILLE -- Ellis Dick, 74, of Greenville died there Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a long illness. The Wayne County native retired from Peabody Coal Co. and was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Martin Dick; four brothers, Loyd Dick, Floyd Dick, Cecil Dick and Lawrence Dick, all of Wayne County; and three sisters, Bernice Dick and Wilma Dick, both of Wayne County, and Mary Daniel of Louisville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Elkton. Visitation is after 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Greenville United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Ruth E. Barnett

BEAVER DAM -- Ruth E. Barnett, 84, of Beaver Dam died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Bedford, Ind., native was a homemaker and a member of The Worldwide Church of God in Newburgh, Ind.

Survivors include several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Harl-Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Vincent Cecil
25 January 2001

Vincent Cecil, 75, of 2729 Sunrise Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native retired as a store manager from Wright Machine Co. after 47 years and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and an usher of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening. A son, Charles Vivian Cecil, died in 1950.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elsie Mae Cecil; six sons, Al Cecil, Donnie Cecil, Wayne Cecil, Kenny Cecil, Marty Cecil and Perry Cecil, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Marvin Cecil of Owensboro; and a sister, Billie Tanner of Effingham, Ill.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thomas Joe Mumford

BEECH CREEK -- Thomas Joe Mumford, 54, of Beech Creek died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at New Dawson's Springs Nursing Home after a long illness. The Newbern, Tenn., native was a retired plumber for the Arnold Septic and Sewer Company in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Mumford; a daughter, Tracy Hagy of Chicago; seven grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Mumford of Round Lake, Ill.; four sisters, Donna Thompson of Beech Creek, Beulah Mae Richey of Grand Haven, Mich., Francis Hart of Nebo and Sylvia Cook of Fulton; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Miller cemetery in Cleaton. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Charles Edward Hayden
25 January 2001

Charles Edward Hayden, 72, of Philpot died Wednesday, Jan, 24, 2001, at his son's home. The Daviess County native retired as a slitter operator from Commonwealth Aluminum after 22 years. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Temple Church and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and his fish pond. His wife of 49 years, Eva Mae Hayden, died March 3, 2000, and a son, Thomas Eugene Hayden, died April 26, 1952.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Alan Hayden and Michael Wayne Hayden, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Stewart of Owensboro and Shannon Elaine Millay of Philpot; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Catherine Hayden of Owensboro.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.
