Kathleen Basham Elliott, 72, of 812 Stone Street, Owensboro, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Breckinridge County native retired from the Daviess County Board of Education after 19 years as a custodian, was a member of Phillips Chapel Pentecostal Church and enjoyed bird watching and reading. Her husband, Lonnie Elliott Sr., died in 1996.

Survivors include five sons, Lonnie Elliott Jr. and James David Elliott, both of Owensboro, Ronnie Edward Elliott of Granite City, Ill., Ralph Doyle Elliott of Mayfield and Richard Lee Elliott of Sacramento; three daughters, Doris Jean Boutcher, Sharon Paulette Mattingly and Betty Sue Hall, all of Owensboro; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two half brothers, James Emmett Chism of Bowling Green and Thomas Lee Chism of Vine Grove; a half sister, Nola Jean Heimler of Muskegon, Mich., and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro chapel. Burial will be in Horsley Chapel cemetery in Breckinridge County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Phillips Chapel Building Fund, 500 Orchard St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Noel T. Bilbro

HARTFORD -- Noel T. Bilbro, 85, of Hartford died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native retired from Peabody Coal Co.'s Alston Mine in 1980, was former owner/operator of Hartford Motel and a retired farmer. He was a Baptist and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by two sons, J.T. Bilbro on Nov. 21, 1994, and Sammy T. Bilbro on March 23, 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Morris Bilbro; a son, Noel Wilson "Billy" Bilbro of Hartford; four daughters, Dorothy Root of Eddyville, Suzanna Wallace of Hartford, Naomi Fuqua of Shepherdsville and Annette Carter of Portland, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Norman Bilbro of Leesburg, Fla.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Norman B. 'Pappy' Ellis

CALHOUN -- Norman B. "Pappy" Ellis, 79, of Calhoun, formerly of Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Owensboro native retired from Fleishman's Distillery of Owensboro, was a Methodist and an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and playing cards. His wife, Ruth Lloyd Ellis, died Dec. 19, 1984.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Ellis of Calhoun and David Ellis of Hawaii; four grandchildren; and a brother, Bobby Ellis of Owensboro.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Sorgho Baptist cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Jacob Whitt Fund or Sarah Dant Wells Fund, both c/o ABC Bank, P.O. Box 130, Calhoun KY 42327.

Raymond Sylvester Bittel

Raymond Sylvester Bittel, 75, of 1427 Parrish Court, Owensboro, died there Monday, May 14, 2001. The Daviess County native retired from Green River Rural Electric in 1990 after 42 years, was a Navy veteran of the south Pacific in World War II and attended St. Stephen Cathedral. He enjoyed traveling with his daughters, baby-sitting his grandchildren, visiting his brothers and sisters and doing home projects.

Survivors include four daughters, Grace Moore of Owensboro, Patty Spice and Debbie McCarty, both of Bowling Green, and Lisa McCarty of Centertown; five grandchildren; four brothers, Harold Bittel of Lewisport, Edward Bittel of Whitesville and Richard Bittel and Joseph Bittel, both of Owensboro; five sisters, Helen Ivanyo of Elizabeth, N.J., Marie Palmer and Agnes Wissing, both of Louisville, and Mildred Bittel and Theresa Lowe, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Inc., 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Millard H. Ferguson

HORSE BRANCH -- Millard H. Ferguson, 72, of Horse Branch died there Sunday, May 13, 2001. The Horse Branch native retired from H.B. Stanley Co. in Beaver Dam and attended Church of Christ in Caneyville.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Schultz Ferguson; three daughters, Priscilla Dye and Sheila Stone, both of Horse Branch, and Cindy Tucker of Olaton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Muffett of Leitchfield and Lovie Allen of Louisville.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.

Richard J. Reisz

FRESNO, Calif. -- Richard J. Reisz, 59, of Fresno, formerly of Rome, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno. The Daviess County native worked for Modern Welding Co. in Fresno for 38 years and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fresno. His daughter, Ruth Renee, died in 1966.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Ruth Ann Miller Reisz; a son, Richard Kevin Reisz of Fresno; a daughter, Robin Lynn Reisz of Fresno; a granddaughter; his parents, John A. and Margaret Reisz of Owensboro; four brothers, Harold E. Reisz of Fresno, Gerald E. Reisz of Los Alamos, N.M., Mark J. Reisz of Seattle, and Ralph A. Reisz of Owensboro; five sisters, Eleanor Margaret Byrne of Omaha, Neb., Joan Clara Strain of Springfield, Va., Johnnie Faye Coomes of Atlanta, Barbara Ann Deckard of Dayton, Ohio, and Marilyn Sue Nugent of Lubbock, Texas.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fresno. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery in Fresno. Stephens & Bean Chapel in Fresno is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.

Louvena Jane 'Janie' Wood

BEECHCREEK -- Louvena Jane "Janie" Wood, 70, of Beechcreek died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a homemaker and Pentecostal.

Survivors include her husband, James Aaron Wood; three sons, James T. Wood of Beechmont, Donnie Wood of Belton and Terry Lynn Wood of Beechcreek; a daughter, Thelma Frances Sadler of South Carrollton; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Thurman DeArmond of Huntsville, Charles DeArmond of Belton, Mike DeArmond of Beechmont and Willard DeArmond of Beechcreek; and three sisters, Lillian Sorrels of Belton, and Mildred Knight and Linda Twiford, both of Beechcreek.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial will be in a cemetery in Belton. Visitation is at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Michael Louis Owsley Sr.
9 May 2001

Michael Louis Owsley Sr., 53, of 1010 College Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native was a pharmacy manager for Rite Aid, former owner of Dennis & Akers 2 from 1984 to 1990, and was a Navy veteran. He graduated from University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy, was a volunteer pharmacist at Owensboro's Free Clinic and a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jane Stuart Owsley; two sons, Michael Louis Owsley Jr. and Andrew Stuart Owsley, both of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Dorothy Potts Owsley of Owensboro; two sisters, Barbara Owsley Beane and Jane Owsley Miller, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Building Fund, First Christian Church, 700 J.R. Miller Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42303.

Camilla Denise Smith

GREENVILLE, Tenn. -- Camilla Denise Smith, 36, of Greenville died there Friday, May 11, 2001. She worked at Associates Commerce Solution in Gray, Tenn.

Survivors include her fiance, Billy Roberts of Baileyton, Tenn.; her mother and stepfather, Frances and Harrel Leach of Beaver Dam; her maternal grandmother, Alma Sellers of Beaver Dam; two brothers, Gregory Smith of Partridge and Ricky L. Smith of Lake City, Tenn.; seven sisters, Carolyn Morgan of Akron, Ohio, Barbara Little and Yvone Little, both of Barberton, Ohio, Norma Gail Shepherd and Melissa Smith, both of Cumberland, and Pamela Rigney and Roberta Smith, both of Baileyton; three stepbrothers, Steve Leach, Robert Leach and Chris Leach, all of Beaver Dam; and a stepsister, Diana Leach of Beaver Dam.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial will be in Zion cemetery in Baileyton. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of local arrangements.

Crit Ray 'C.R.' Willis

LIVERMORE -- Crit Ray "C.R." Willis, 66, of Livermore died there Sunday, May 13, 2001. The Muhlenberg County native retired as an electrician from HON Co. in Owensboro, attended Livermore Missionary Baptist Church and was an Air Force veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family, stock car racing, playing golf and University of Kentucky basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene Williamson Willis; three sons, Jeffrey Ray Willis of Owensboro, Scott Keith Willis of Bennettsville, S.C., and Jared Bell of Livermore; two daughters, Debra Denise Willis and Laura Beth Rickard, both of Livermore; 12 grandchildren; a brother, James William "J.W." Willis of Lyndhurst, Ohio; and a sister, Jane Hudson of Calhoun.

Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Richland Baptist cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice, 109 S. Second St., Central City, KY 42330.

Amelia Kay Coffman
8 May 2001

SACRAMENTO -- Amelia Kay Coffman, 5, of Sacramento died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Tabernacle Church of God.

Survivors include her parents, Nicky and Lisa Coffman of Sacramento; grandparents, Bobby and Phyllis Noffsinger of Bremen, Richard and Karolette Elliott of Sacramento and Terry McDonald of Greenville; two sisters, Kayla M. Coffman and Kristal Coffman, both of Sacramento; and several uncles and aunts.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Corley's Chapel cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
