Louis C. Sandefur

CALHOUN -- Louis C. Sandefur, 69, of Calhoun died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Florence, Colo., native retired from AT&T Corp. of St. Louis. He was a member of Calhoun Christian Church, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a Kentucky Colonel. His wife, Elsie Mae Sandefur, died Jan. 10, 2000.

Survivors include a brother, George Sandefur of Canon City, Colo.; two sisters, Ruth Jenkins of Canon City and Dora Epley of Calhoun; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 3:30 p.m. today at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Calhoun Christian Church Building Fund, c/o Rev. Drex Stuart, P.O. Box 67, Calhoun, KY 42327.

Myrtle Mae Howard Richeson

HARTFORD -- Myrtle Mae Howard Richeson, 86, of Hartford died there Friday, June 1, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a homemaker, member and former pianist of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Her husband, Richard Richeson, died in 1995.

Survivors include a niece.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Angelica Amy Jo Hambrick
2 June 2001

BREMEN -- Angelica Amy Jo Hambrick, newborn daughter of Darrin Hambrick and Manda Meinert, both of Bremen, died Thursday, May 30, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Survivors include her grandparents, Donnie Hambrick and Betty Hambrick, both of Greenville, Scott Meinert of Evansville and Debra Neal of Central City; and several uncles and aunts.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. There is no visitation. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City is handling arrangements.

Charles 'Chuck' Buskill
15 June 2001

Charles "Chuck" Buskill, 60, of Owensboro died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. The Herrin, Ill., native retired from BellSouth in 1991 after 27 years of service and had served in the Navy for four years. He was a member of Apostolic Bible Church in Rockport, Ind., and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Kathy Sue Faught Buskill; two sons, Jamie Buskill and Chad Buskill, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Robin May of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lakeview cemetery in Johnston City, Ill. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Michael Ray Baughn

POWDERLY -- Michael Ray Baughn, 21, of Powderly died there Sunday, May 20, 2001. The Hopkins County native was a member of Corley's Chapel in Graham.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Armour Baughn; two stepchildren, Keena Lear and Dalton Lear, both of Central City; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Ricky Lee of Powderly; his father, Terry Ray Baughn of Hartford; his grandparents, Walter and Dean Smith of Bremen, Cairleen and Clayton Ellis of Sacramento, Jay and Virginia Skimmerhorn of Hartford and Johnny Baughn of Evansville; two brothers, Bryan Lee of Bremen and T.J. Baughn of Owensboro; and two sisters, Gwen Moody of Bremen and Whitney Baughn of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Brier Creek cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Christiene J. Slack
9 July 2001

FORDSVILLE -- Christiene J. Slack, 78, of Fordsville died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a housewife and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Her husband, Dewey Slack, died Sept. 9, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Danny Slack of Fordsville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Shrader of Pattyville; and a sister, Margaret Jo Cooper of Louisville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Malcolm Lewis Jr.
9 July 2001

Malcolm Lewis Jr., 83, of 1006 East Fifth St., Owensboro, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Hermitage Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Daviess County native retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. in 1983 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Maceo. He sold vegetables at the Farmers Market and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Myrtle Adams Lewis; four sons, Donald Lewis, Macarthur Lewis and Bruce Lewis, all of Owensboro, and Larry Lewis of Evansville; two daughters, Dianna Lewis of Owensboro and Billie Joyce Matthews of Waukegan, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mattie Hanley of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jeremy Joe 'J.J.' Lucas
9 July 2001

CUSTER -- Jeremy Joe "J.J." Lucas, 22, of Custer died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at his home. The Breckinridge County native worked at Waupaca Foundry in Tell City, Ind.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Whitworth Lucas; two sons, Scott Lucas and Christopher Lucas, both of Custer; his parents, Billy and Sue Lucas of Hardinsburg; his grandfather, Roy Lucas of Glen Dean; and five brothers, Sam Lucas and Billy Lucas Jr., both of Falls of Rough, Philip Lucas of Westview, and Billy Joe Lucas and Dylan Lucas, both of Hardinsburg.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery in Custer. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Albert Phillip Theiss
9 July 2001

Albert Phillip Theiss, 98, of 1601 Frederica St., Owensboro, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Hermitage Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Owensboro native was a retired brick mason and masonry contractor, orginally having been in partnership with his father, and was former superintendent for Whittenberg Construction. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and T.P.A. His wife, Hazel Davis Theiss, died Jan. 11, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan T. Henderson of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Douglas Wade Reynolds
12 July 2001

Douglas Wade Reynolds, 71, of 4129 Hunting Creek Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Kodak native was a petroleum geologist, a member of First Baptist Church and earned Kentucky Oil and Gas Association's 1996 Petroleum Professional Award. He was certified by American Institute of Professional Geologists and American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He received degrees from Berea College and Indiana University and enjoyed fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Reynolds; two sons, Douglas Wade Reynolds Jr. of Lexington and Bryan Robert Reynolds of Owensboro; two daughters, Jennifer Ann Moehrle of St. Louis and Suzanne Christine Reynolds of Lexington; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Reynolds of Mobile, Ala., and Rex Reynolds of Houston; and a sister, Bonnie Blackson of Mobile, Ala.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday CDT at First Baptist Church in Owensboro. Graveside services are at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at Harrogate cemetery in Harrogate, Tenn., and from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Pine Mountain Settlement School, 36 Kentucky 510, Bledsoe, KY 40810-8289.

Alton S. Reynolds
14 July 2001

GREENVILLE -- Alton S. Reynolds, 94, of Greenville died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville after a brief illness. The Union County native had worked for Peabody Coal and retired as a train engineer from River Queen Mine in 1977. His wife, Silvia Reynolds, died in 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Young of Central City; a grandson; two sisters, Berneda Todd and Carrine Reynolds, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge cemetery in Sturgis. Visitation is after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.
