CENTRAL CITY -- Hugh Eugene Williams, 82, of Evansville died Monday, July 2, 2001, at his home. The McLean County native worked for Evansville Association for the Blind for 31 years and was known as "Big Daddy" on citizens band radio.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Brummett Williams; a son, Harold Williams of Evansville; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby Williams and Ed Williams, both of Central City, and Steve Williams of Knoxville, Ark.; a sister, Helen Stirsman of Cincinnati; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cherry Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth J. Otterson

Ruth J. Otterson, 70, of 1708 Lee Court, Owensboro, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Livia native retired from Clark Security Agency at the Indiana Michigan Power Plant and was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church. Her husband, Fred F. Otterson, died in 1974.

Survivors include a son, Robert Otterson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Butchart and Dorothy Sandy, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Betty Wilson Scott

MADISONVILLE -- Betty Wilson Scott, 67, of Madisonville, formerly of Calhoun, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at her home in Madisonville. The Webster County native was a homemaker and had retired from Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree. She was a member of Sebree First Baptist Church and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Gene Wilson, on March 20, 1991; a daughter, Judy Ann Henry, on July 2, 1991; and a stepdaughter, Linda Cates, on March 27, 1994.

Survivors include her husband, David Scott; a son, Larry Gene Wilson of Sebree; two daughters, Linda O'Nan of Sebree and Darlene Daniel of Henderson; four stepdaughters, Mary Brown and Sherry Bruce, both of Madisonville, Nelda Hopper of Lisman and Dana Hallum of Nortonville; seven grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Shelby Drake and Beulah Drake, both of Providence, and Lena Boles of Evansville; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Elba. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice, 109 S. Second St., Central City, KY 42330.

Henry Albert Bruner

HAWESVILLE -- Henry Albert Bruner, 94, of Hawesville died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Breckinridge Memorial Extended Care in Hardinsburg. The Hancock County native owned and operated Bruner Facing Slip Co. from 1923 to 1973 and enjoyed photography, travel, genealogy and yard and garden work. He was secretary of Men's Bible Class at Hawesville Baptist Church for more than 55 years and had 50 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Bruner, in 1988; and a son, Raymond Bruner, in 1982.

Survivors include a son, Harlan Bruner of Old Hickory, Tenn.; a daughter, Betty Preston of Hardinsburg; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irma Siburt of Kokomo, Ind., and Thelma Robertson of Hawesville; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawesville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Blackford Baptist Church cemetery near Hawesville. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville.

Oscar Austin Carter

HARTFORD -- Oscar Austin Carter, 83, of Sunnydale died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at his home. The Centertown native was a farmer and member of Centertown Tabernacle Church. His wife, Juanita Paris Carter, died in 1987.

Survivors include a son, Carroll Carter of Hartford; a daughter, Patricia Carter Rose of Marion, N.C.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Tinsley of Livermore and Geneva McCormick of Hartford.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Ohio County Hospice.

Murray G. Crask
20 July 2001

Murray G. Crask, 87, of 2705 Daviess St., Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Birk City native retired in 1978 from Glenmore Distillery after 33 years and was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church. He enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Hettie B. Crask; two sons, Don Crask of Owensboro and Larry Crask of Houston; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sudie Carrie Sapp of Owensboro.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Stella M. Fleener

LOUISVILLE -- Stella M. Fleener, 81, of Louisville died there Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Caritas Medical Center. The Ohio County native was a housewife and a Christian.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Fleener of Louisville and Charles Fleener of Maukport, Ind.; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Isaacs of Milltown, Ind., and Janet I. Stephens of Turlock, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Cecil L. Daugherty and Chuck Daugherty.

Services are at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville. Graveside services are at 1:30 p.m. CDT Saturday at Memorial Gardens in Leitchfield. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. EDT today at the funeral home.

Curtis H. Crenshaw

Curtis H. Crenshaw, 85, of Owensboro, formerly of Caldwell County, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System after a short illness. The Caldwell County native was a truck driver for the state highway department and a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church in Owensboro. His wife, Alta Mae Morse Crenshaw, died April 12, 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Nadine Gray of Owensboro; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will be in Liberty Church cemetery in Caldwell County. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Patricia Shiarella Harris
20 July 2001

Patricia Shiarella Harris, 59, of 324 Ford Ave., Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, S.C. The Owensboro native was a member of First Baptist Church and a graduate of University of Kentucky. She received Masters degrees in public health and anthropology from University of South Carolina.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Harris of Broomfield, Colo., and Tom Harris of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Jane Downey of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren; a brother, Nick Shiarella of Owensboro; and a sister, Mary Sachs of Owensboro.

Services are at noon Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Help Office of Owensboro, 1316 W. 4th St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Flossie Susan Nelson

BREMEN -- Flossie Susan Nelson, 102, of Bremen died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Columbia Health Care Center in Evansville. The Muhlenberg County native was a homemaker and member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Beverly L. Nelson of Owensboro, James R. Nelson of Evansville and Charles "Preacher" Nelson of Bremen; a daughter, Dorothy Shanks of Evansville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Crelie Klieman of Boonville, Ind.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Reva Nell Howard

SOUTH CARROLTON -- Reva Nell Howard, 67, of South Carrolton died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a homemaker and member of Central City Church of Christ. Her husband, Oscar Howard, died in 1980.

Survivors include three sons, Roger Flener and William Flener, both of Drakesboro, and Bobby Flener of Moorman; three daughters, Ann Mackey of Drakesboro, Debbie Wood of Nashville and Linda Koon of Central City; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her mother, Grace McClure of South Carrolton; a brother, Tommy McClure of Bremen; and two sisters, Carolyn Littlefield of Bremen and Pat McDonald of South Carrolton.

Services are at 1 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Island Methodist cemetery in Island.
