BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Phyllis Ann Cambron Burdette, 59, of Bellevue died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. The Owensboro native was owner of Sno-Country Ford in Monroe, Wash.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Burdette; two sons, Jeff Burdette of Snohomish, Wash., and Jay Burdette of Monroe, Wash.; a daughter, Julia Bricker of Fall City, Wash.; eight grandchildren; a brother, Larry Cambron; and three sisters, Pat Ford, Kay Copeland and Paula Wedding.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Acacia Funeral Home in Seattle. Burial will be in Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Marsha Rivkin Ovarian Cancer Research Center at Swedish Hospital, 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122.

James Douglas "Doug" Evans, 76, of 1714 Bluff Ave., Owensboro, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native was retired owner of Doug Evans Auto Sales in Philpot, a Catholic and sponsored local sports, motor sports and country music performers. He had worked at Harry Holder Ford Co., Lambert's Auto Sales and Tichenor's Auto Sales.
Survivors include a sister, Leona Powers of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church, 609 E. MORGANTOWN -- Johnnie C. Orange, 94, of Morgantown died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Lakeview Health Care Center in Bowling Green. The Butler County native was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Orange.
Survivors include two sons, Lewis Orange of Morgantown and Lanny Orange of Florida; a daughter, Joann Forgy of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Stephens of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown. Burial will be in Quality Baptist Church cemetery in Butler County.

REYNOLDS STATION -- Linda Elaine Phillips, 55, of Reynolds Station died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at her home. The Ohio County native worked at Hillcrest Health Care and was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Phillips of Reynolds Station.
Services are at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

CALHOUN -- Dora Belle Thomasson, 88, of Calhoun died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. The Calhoun native retired as a postal employee from United States Postal Service's Calhoun office after many years and was a member of Calhoun Christian Church. Her husband, A.B. Thomasson, died Sept. 27, 1954.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. W.T. Hull of Calhoun; and a niece.

Betty Jo Tierney "Mamaw" Thompson, 67, of 2614 S. Kingman Loop, Owensboro, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a member of Blessed Sacrament Chapel and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. "Chick" Thompson, on Sept. 3, 1998; and a daughter, Holly Jane Thompson, in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, John D. Thompson Jr. and Michael Alan Thompson, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Cindy Jo Clark of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Virginia Hawkins, Ruth Conkright and Anna Lee Barr, all of Owensboro.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Survivors include four sons, Glendal Bivins, Freddie Bivins and Donald Bivins, all of Greenville, and Dariel Bivins of Drakesboro; three daughters, Lucille Willis of Elkton, and Linda Shelton and Louise Morris, both of Greenville; 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin Dukes of Turlock, Calif.

CALHOUN -- Sarah Elizabeth "Polly" Ross, 73, of Calhoun died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Sacramento native was a homemaker and had worked at General Electric. She was a member of Rumsey United Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, quilting and her grandchildren. Her husband, Billy Douglas Ross, died June 19, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara McGlothin of Owensboro and Debbie French of Rumsey; and several nephews and nieces.

Georgia Coleman Logan, 99, of Owensboro died there Friday, July 13, 2001, at Wellington Parc. The Daviess County native was the oldest living member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. She had taught Sunday school for over 50 years and enjoyed quilting, crafts and flowers. Her husband, Bradley M. Logan, died July 22, 1968.
Survivors include a son, Sam Coleman of Owensboro; a daughter, Myrtie Wilhoyte of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

MAPLE MOUNT -- Sister Mary Bernice Uhing, 84, of Maple Mount died Friday, July 13, 2001. The Hartington, Neb., native was an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph and was in her 65th year of religious life. She had taught at schools in Earlington, Radcliff, Madisonville, Fredericktown and Louisville and had been principal of Immaculate Conception School in Hawesville. She enjoyed animals, reading, teaching and helping others.
Survivors include two brothers, Cyril Uhring of Blair, Neb., and Hubert Uhing of Hartington; and a sister, Julia Loise of Hartington.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel in Maple Mount. Burial will be in the convent cemetery in Maple Mount. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday at the chapel. A wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is handling arrangements. CENTRAL CITY -- Thomas Bradley Varnell, 77, of Central City died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native retired from the track department from CSX Railroads and was a World War II veteran. His wife, Helen Varnell, died in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher Varnell of Watertown, Minn., and Jeffrey Varnell of Central City; two daughters, Lisa Donnelly of Demotte, Ind., and Kelly Ross of Lockport, Ill.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Betty Tudor and Ann Clemons, both of Central City.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

ORCHARD HILL, Ga. -- Thomas H. Baker, 61, of Orchard Hill, formerly of Calhoun, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at his home. The Lawrenceburg, Tenn., native was a school teacher at Griffin-Spalding High School in Griffin, Ga. He was a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church and Duvall Masonic Lodge 6 of F&AM in Bardstown. A son, Charlie Baker, died on March 4, 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary A. Baker; two sons, Tom Baker of Terre Haute, Ind., and Chris Baker of Zebulon, Ga.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Baker Floyd of Calhoun.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Iverson; two sons, Richard Merlin of Sacramento and Dr. Dan Merlin of Livia; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Brenda Fay McDaniel; a son, Barry McDaniel of Philpot; two grandchildren; a brother, Joseph McDaniel of Florida; and a sister, Rose McDaniel of Perryville, Ohio.
