Rudolph Lee Lack I
25 July 2001

TULSA, Okla. - Rudolph Lee Lack I, 75, of Tulsa died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Turley, Okla., native retired as an educator from Tulsa Public School System and taught at several schools in the Tulsa area. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Joyce Lack.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Lack; a son, Rudolph Lack II of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three daughters, Cheryl Bradford of Tampa, Fla., Susan Millsap of Owensboro and Linda Lack of Riverview, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Bill Lack of Owasso, Okla.; and a sister, Violet Gavin.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Turley United Methodist Church in Turley, Okla. Burial will be in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Okla. Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow is in charge of arrangements. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of local arrangements.

Randall A. Ratliff Sr.

UTICA - Randall A. Ratliff Sr., 58, of Utica died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his home. The McLean County native retired from Local 1080 as a millwright and was a farmer. He was a member of Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church, Utica Lodge 742 F&AM and enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball, NASCAR and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Paula Baker Ratliff; a son, Randall A. Ratliff Jr. of Lexington; a daughter, Andrea Ratliff of Utica; a granddaughter; his parents, Harlen and Mary Jane Ratliff of Calhoun; two brothers, David Ratliff of Livermore and Larry Ratliff of Owensboro; and a sister, Marilyn Nottingtham of Owensboro.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Utica cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic services are at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro KY 42301.

Mary Helen Gilles

Mary Helen Gilles, 82, of 1321 Center St., Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Owensboro native was a homemaker and trained employees at Ken-Rad in Seattle and Owensboro during World War II. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and enjoyed telling stories, fishing and camping.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Charles M. Gilles; three sons, Michael D. Gilles of South Carrolton and Dennis Gene Gilles and Joseph Allan Gilles, both of Owensboro; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Hamilton of Owensboro.

Services are at noon Friday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Parish Center Building Fund.

Joshua R. Morris

LEWISPORT - Joshua R. Morris, 20, of Lewisport died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, in eastern Daviess County from injuries suffered in an auto accident. The Hancock County native was a member of Lewisport United Methodist Church, worked for Willamette Industries in the summer student program and attended University of Southern Indiana. He graduated from Hancock County High School in 1999 and was a member of the baseball team for five years and the basketball team for two years.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Debbie Morris of Lewisport; grandparents, Marshal and Dorothy Morris of Hawesville and James "Abbie" and Iris Fay Covetts of Lewisport; a great-grandmother, Virginia Nichols of Hawesville; and a brother, Jordan Morris of Lewisport.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lewisport United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Lewisport United Methodist Church Building Fund or Joshua R. Morris Scholarship Fund.

Donald J. 'Don' Daugherty

LIVERMORE - Donald J. "Don" Daugherty, 65, of Blacklick, Ohio, formerly of McLean County, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at his home after a long illness with colon cancer. The Ohio County native was founder and chief executive officer of EmergiTech Inc. of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, which developed software for public safety. His son, Jeff Daugherty, died March 22, 1985.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Loretta Daugherty; two sons, Dave Daugherty of New Albany, Ohio, and Steve Daugherty of Waterford, Mich.; three daughters, Cindy Watson of Vandalia, Ohio, Beth Wehlann of South Bend, Ind., and Tracy Daugherty of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; his parents, J.C. and Emma Daugherty of Paducah; a brother, Jerry Daugherty of Powderly; and a sister, Frances Mulcahy of Fulton.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County, 1211 Main St., Hartford, KY 42347.

Charles 'CF' Mattingly
6 July 2001

Charles "CF" Mattingly, 70, of 665 Danberry St., Owensboro, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native retired from Yager Materials as a supervisor after 41 years and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Mattingly; a son, David Joe Mattingly of Owensboro; three daughters, Lori Hall, Violet Higdon and Linda Sweat, all of Owensboro; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. John Glenn Calhoun

John Glenn Calhoun, 55, of 1531 Griffith Ave., Owensboro, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native was a tobacconist, member of First Christian Church and former owner/operator of Big Independent Tobacco Warehouse in Owensboro. He owned tobacco warehouses in Tifton, Ga., and Dunn, N.C., and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Nancy Carpenter Calhoun; a son, John Glenn Calhoun II of Utica; a daughter, Karen Calhoun Clark of Owensboro; four grandchildren; a sister, Jackie Calhoun Maddox of Owensboro; four nephews; and a niece.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Private burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Daniel Pitino Shelter, 501 Walnut St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Daisy Bee Jennings

Daisy Bee Jennings, 71, of Hillcrest Healthcare Center, formerly of 1001 Walnut St., died there Wednesday, July 4, 2001. The Daviess County native was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral.

Survivors include a brother, Tommy Jennings of Owensboro; two sisters, Dorothy Vinson and Nora Willoughby, both of Owensboro; several nephews and nieces; and several cousins.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home in Owensboro.

John Ray Strayn

MADISONVILLE - John Ray Strayn, 85, of Madisonville died there Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Regional Medical Center. The Muhlenberg County native retired as a coal miner from Fies 11 Mines and was a member of East Union Baptist Church and United Mine Workers Association District 23, Local 9653.

Survivors include a son, Donald Lee Strayn of Owensboro; a daughter, Carrell Strayn Hughes of Auburn; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lenard Strayn of Dunmor; and three sisters, Omanell Drake of Griffith, Ind., and Francis Abney and Billie Gabbert, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville. Graveside services are at 3:30 p.m. Friday at New Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Auburn. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Gideons.

John F. 'Jack' Rogalski

John F. "Jack" Rogalski, 55, of 2238 Clarke Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hammond, Ind., native retired from Inland Steel and was a member of JayCee's in Shererville, Ind., and OMHS HealthPark.

Survivors include his wife of four years, Kayan Rogalski; a son, Larry Rogalski of Lakewood, Colo.; a daughter, Mindy Young of Owensboro; two grandsons; a sister, Donna Reynolds of McHenry; a nephew; and two nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Frances Louise Henning

Frances Louise Henning, 83, of The Carmel Home, Owensboro, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired from South Central Bell as an operator after 25 years and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and Telephone Pioneers of America.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert J. McBride and David E. McBride, both of Owensboro; two sisters, Virginia Lee Tichenor of Kingsport, Tenn., and Helen Jean Hein of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
