Mason Humphrey
14 October 2001

LIVERMORE - Mason Humphrey, 50, of Livermore died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in McLean County. The McLean County native was a service technician for Kentucky Utilities for more than 23 years and retired from the National Guard. He was a member of Livermore United Methodist Church, Livermore Lions Club and served on the Livermore City Council for more than 10 years.

Survivors include his fiancée, Sandy Keller of Calhoun; a son, Jarred M. Humphrey of Owensboro; a daughter, Jaime D. Farris of Utica; two grandchildren; his mother, Louise Wells of Calhoun; three brothers, Chester Humphrey Jr. and Steve Humphrey, both of Island, and Robert Humphrey of Livermore; two sisters, Elizabeth Ashby of Livermore and Lydia Taylor of Island; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery near Livermore. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Stuart Franklin Boyken

CALHOUN - Stuart Franklin Boyken, 55, of Calhoun died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The Livermore native was a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four sons, Tommy Boyken, Keith Boyken and Chris Boyken, all of Irving, and Jody Boyken of Paint Lick; a daughter, Mellissa Bowman of McKee; five grandchildren; his parents, Rannie and Ann Boyken of Calhoun; and two sisters, Mischelle Ledet of Wynne, Ark., and Vicki Bryan of Bowling Green.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Renal Dialysis Center, c/o Trover Foundation, 435 N. Kentucky Ave., Madisonville, KY 42431.

Lester Thompson

CLOVERPORT - Lester Thompson, 85, of Owensboro, formerly of Cloverport, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Askins native was a member of the Deliverance Tabernacle Church in Owensboro and was a retired cab driver.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Thompson; three sons, Mac Thompson of Vero Beach, Fla., Harry Thompson of Evansville and C.L. Thompson of Owensboro; a daughter, Mary Jolly of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Sally Phillips of Smith Mills; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Funeral Home in Cloverport. Burial will be in Cloverport cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charles A. Reid
12 October 2001

Charles Albert Reid, 68, of Owensboro died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at his home. The Cloverport native was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Brescia College in 1959 and from University of Wisconsin Banking School. In 1976, he became president and CEO of Independence Bank. He enjoyed reading and charitable and civic organizations.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mitzi Reisz Reid; four sons, Albert Reisz Reid, Christopher Charles Reid and David Brian Reid, all of Owensboro, and Kevin Louis Reid of Louisville; three daughters, Tracy Kathleen Reid of Lexington, Kelly Reid Jackson of Frankfort and Cathy Reid Switzer of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; his father, Charles Mormon Reid of Owensboro; a brother, John William Reid of Gonzales, La.; and a sister, Joyce Reid Maloney of Louisville.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Charles A. Reid/Brescia University Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 825, Owensboro, KY 42302-825.

Margarine Carman Elliott

HUDSON - Margarine Carman Elliott, 78, of Hudson died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility in Hardinsburg. The Breckinridge County native was a seamstress and retired from Eleanor Beard Studio and Galante Studio in Hardinsburg. Her husband, Percy Elliott, died Dec. 15, 1992.

Survivors include four sons, Edwin Elliott of Eastview, Barry Elliott of Hudson, Ricky Elliott of Hardinsburg and David Elliott of Leitchfield; two daughters, Brenda Clark of Owensboro and Patty Muse of Rineyville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Chester Carman of Louisville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Hudson cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Barbara Clark

PRINCETON - Barbara Clark, 53, of Princeton died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her home after a long illness. The Miami native was a housewife and member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Clark; three sons, Bill Clark of Deland, Fla., Don Clark of Owensboro and Robert Clark of Brennan; two daughters, Dianna Clark and Candy Calhoun, both of Owensboro; her mother, Peggy Whitsell Barrow of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; four brothers, Mike Barrow and Danny Barrow, both of Anthony, Fla., Ronnie Barrow of Ponte Orange, Fla., and Raleigh "Toad" Barrow of New Smyrna Beach; and two sisters, Teresa "Tita" Jackson of Edgewater, Fla., and Wanda Thower of Norman Park, Ga.

Services are at noon Tuesday at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will be in Parker-Kennedy cemetery in Caldwell County. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mildred Martin Colley
8 October 2001

DURHAM, N.C. - Mildred Martin Colley, 82, of Durham, formerly of Owensboro, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newell G. Colley Jr.; and a daughter, Linda C. Reusch.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Thomas N. Colley of Durham; a daughter, Carol C. Lott of Decatur, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham is in charge of arrangements. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of local arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul's Lutheran Church "Great Things 2001 Capital Campaign", 1200 W. Cornwallis Road, Durham, NC 27705.

W.R. Carson Jr.

HARTFORD - William Robinson Carson Jr., 99, of Hartford died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a farmer and former superintendent of Ohio County schools from 1933 to 1941. He was a member of Rockport (Ky.) United Presbyterian Church and taught school in Ohio County for several years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Sons of the American Revolution. He was preceded in death by his wives, Laura Ford Carson in 1954 and Blanche Everley Carson in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Laurene Liles of Hartford; a stepdaughter, Dr. Clemmie Moore of Tampa, Fla.; a grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Carson cemetery in Hartford. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Larry Dale Embry
17 October 2001

Larry Dale Embry, 54, of 1700 Leitchfield Road, Owensboro, died there Monday, Oct. 15, 2001. The Ohio County native worked in the maintenance department at ALCAN Aluminum in Sebree for 18 years and was an Army veteran, serving from 1966 to 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Embry and Crystal Embry, both of Owensboro; four grandchildren; his mother, Lillie Brooks Cannon of Beaver Dam; four brothers, Richard Embry, Tommy Embry and Freddie Embry, all of Beaver Dam, and Lawrence Embry of Centertown; two sisters, Joyce Rickard of Sacramento and Rose Hisle of Harrodsburg; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Patrick Thomas McFall

HAWESVILLE - Patrick Thomas McFall, infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles T. McFall of Hawesville, was stillborn Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

Survivors also include his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Vangrift, Delores McFall, and Robert O. Driskoll, all of Hawesville.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Fairview cemetery. Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville is handling arrangements.

Larry Neal Aldridge
1 October 2001

HAWESVILLE - Larry Neal Aldridge, 53, of Radcliff, formerly of Hawesville, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native was a Methodist, worked at Ireland Army Hospital and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include a brother, George Aldridge of Hawesville; a sister, Debbie Puckett of Hawesville; four nephews; four nieces; and an uncle.

Services are private. Burial will be in Serenity Hills cemetery in Hawesville. Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville is in charge of arrangements.
