Fred W. Puckett Jr., 82, of 232-A Raintree Dr., Owensboro, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Bon Harbor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. The Daviess County native retired from the Owensboro Police Department and had worked at Yellow Cab Company. He had played in the Silver Tones band for 20 years and was an Army veteran of World War II. His first wife, Hattie Puckett, died in 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Marie Puckett; two sons, David Puckett and Mike Puckett, both of Owensboro; three stepsons, Gary Payne of Springfield, Tenn., Steven Payne of Owensboro and Billy Payne of Tillery, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Doris Shock of Owensboro and Linda Juliano of Philadelphia; six grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Christ Gospel Church, 9 Gale Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301.
Bebee T. Reynolds

Bebee T. Reynolds, 97, of 1205 Leitchfield Road, Owensboro, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. The Hopkins County native was a member of Erlington Methodist Church. Her husband, Emerson A. Reynolds, died in 1983.
Survivors include a nephew; a niece; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Services are private. Private burial will be in Slaughters cemetery in Slaughters. There is no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
Paul Joseph Kuegel

CHICAGO - Paul Joseph Kuegel, 70, of Chicago died there Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Westside Veterans Administration Medical Center. The Daviess County native retired from sales at Office Automation Inc. and was former owner of Midwest Cado Computer Co. in Chicago. He graduated from Chicago Technical College and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his companion, Barbara Jurka of Chicago; a daughter, Michelle Kuegel of Chicago; four brothers, Martin Kuegel and David Kuegel, both of Owensboro, Mike Kuegel of Browns Mill, N.J., and Bill Kuegel of Glen Burnie, Md.; six sisters, Ann Keelin, Sue Yannacone, Paula Al-Zubaidi and Helen O'Bryan, all of Owensboro, Theresa Rhodes of Utica and Mary Payne of Rockport, Ind.; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Brescia University chapel in Owensboro. Inurnment will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after noon Sunday at the chapel. Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

CROMWELL - Mary Charlene Cardwell, 86, of Cromwell died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Butler County native was a housewife and a member of Fairview Church of Christ in Butler County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ray Cardwell, on Oct. 7, 1965; and a son, Ricky Cardwell, on June 6, 1968.
Survivors include nine sons, Odis Cardwell, James Cardwell, both of McDaniels, Alfa Cardwell of Louisville, Everett Cardwell of Elizabethtown, Glendon Cardwell and Eulon Cardwell, both of Cromwell, Kennith Cardwell of Poseyville, Ind., Roger Cardwell and Clarence Cardwell, both of Morgantown; two daughters, Betty Blacklock of Cromwell and Mary Lou Lindsey of Morgantown; 39 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Phelps of Elizabethtown; and two sisters, Lavern Embry of Caneyville and Eunice "Bill" Phelps of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Butler-Phelps cemetery in Butler County. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ruby C. Wade Thompson Miller

FORDSVILLE - Ruby C. Wade Thompson Miller, 84, of Fordsville died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native was a Protestant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie C. Miller; three sons, Bert C. Thompson Jr., William Thompson and Patrick Thompson; and a daughter, Bonnie Roseanne Waters.
Survivors include 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Vic Wade of Philpot, Ralph Wade of Oakwood, Ill., Wayne Wade of Owensboro and Alfred Wade of Louisville; a sister, Anne Lott of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services are at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Ralph cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Lung Association.
Hayley Lee Bethel

GREENVILLE - Hayley Lee Bethel, infant daughter of Jamie Lee Bethel of Greenville, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Other survivors include her grandmother, Shirley Hoeffler of Greenville; two uncles; and an aunt.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graham cemetery in Graham. There is no visitation. Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
James Richard Greenwell

James Richard Greenwell, 73, of 1618 Alderson Court, Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Morganfield native retired from Texas Gas as treasurer after 35 years and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and former member of the Sarah Club. He graduated from Notre Dame University, supported Brescia University and enjoyed tennis, cards and charitable activities. His wife, Mary Ruth Greenwell, died May 27, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Greenwell of Warrenville, Ill., and David Greenwell of Seoul, South Korea; three grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Coblin of Frankfort and Dorothy Lindle of Sturgis; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Bessie Knight Gates

SEBREE - Bessie Knight Gates, 88, of Sebree died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at her daughter's home. She was a member of Sebree United Methodist Church for 46 years where she served as church officer and taught Sunday school. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Homemakers Club and Webster County Homemakers Council. She managed Kwik-Pik in Sebree and worked at Sebree Variety Shop. Her husband, J.Z. Gates, died in 1970.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Whitledge of Clay; two granddaughters; and two sisters, Lillie Scott of Henderson and Betty Riggs of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sebree United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery in Sebree. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Vanover Funeral Home in Clay is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Anthony's Hospice of Webster County.
James T. Morehead

MADISONVILLE - James T. Morehead, 87, of Madisonville, formerly of Drakesboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He retired from Island Creek Coal Co. in 1976 and was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church in Drakesboro. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Elvie M. Finch of Evansville; three nephews; and two nieces.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Browder (Ky.) cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Mason & Son's Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Dorothy Jean Draeger

Dorothy Jean Draeger, 70, of 915 E. 19th St., Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Marion, Ill., native was an accountant for 31 years and retired from Draeger & Associates Inc. as secretary-treasurer. She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of Tops Club for 25 years and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Jerome P. "Jerry" Draeger; four sons, Joseph Draeger of Decatur, Ill., Richard Draeger of Boonville, Ind., and Anthony Draeger and Aaron Draeger, both of Owensboro; three daughters, Denise O'Bryan of Owensboro, Beverly Bradley of Brookville, Ind., and Patricia Sheahan of Savannah, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, John McCree and Elbert McCree, both of Marion, Ill., and Donald McCree of Johnson City, Ill.; and three sisters, Elva Anderson and Norma Gordon, both of Marion, and Mary Ealey of Olney, Ill.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. FORDSVILLE - Lucille Canary, 84, of Fordsville died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Ohio County native was a homemaker and member of Providence Baptist Church. Her husband, Earl Canary, died on Dec. 18, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby E. Canary and James D. Canary, both of Fordsville; three daughters, Beverly Westerfield of Whiting, Ind., Martha Phillips of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Susie Russell of Schererville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gwendolyn Chapman of Owensboro, Mary Nancy Meyer of Michigan and Erman Hardesty of Hartford.
Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Providence Baptist Church in Fordsville. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. James D. Lashbrook

James D. Lashbrook, 67, of Owensboro died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired as an attorney from private practice and attended Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a public defender for 13 years, an Army veteran and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He graduated from Brescia College with a business administration degree and received his master's from Ohio State University.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Linda K. Lashbrook; three sons, James D. Lashbrook Jr. of Utica, Greg Lashbrook of Reynolds Station and Brian Lashbrook of Owensboro; a daughter, Karen Lasher of Hawesville; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
