Eleanor Ruth Morgan, collected antiques

Eleanor Ruth Morgan enjoyed the simple things in life: knitting, baking, playing the piano, collecting antiques, caring for family and friends.

"I spent a lot of holidays at her home, made a lot of visits, and it was just a marvelous time," said her niece, Alice Kennelly Roberts.

"She had so many antiques, it was almost like a museum . . . and she did her homemade candies and pastries and a special orange cake that was just beautiful."

Ms. Roberts said she spent many summer days with Ms. Morgan after her par ents died when she was a young woman.

"I was without parents, so Eleanor was awfully good to me," Ms. Roberts said. "She'd say, "Come on over and have soup or chili with me.' "
