Agnes Elizabeth "Libby" Coomes Allen, 81, of Owensboro, died, Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The West Louisville native was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church; was a Kentucky Colonel; served as an election judge; and was active in the Daviess County Fish and Game.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Captain Charles Brown in 1954 and her second husband, Frank Allen in 1998.

She is survived by two sons, John H. Allen and James F. Allen of Owensboro; a daughter, Donna Chapman Mayhew of Owenbsoro; 11 grandchildren; six brothers, Felix A. Coomes of Lynchburg, MO, James E. Coomes of Owensboro, Francis E. Coomes of Fort Wayne, IN, Anthony Coomes of Alpharetta, GA, and Henry L. Coomes of North Ridge, CA.; and two sisters, Pauline Sublett of Owensboro and Laura Baughn of Evansville.

Funeral services are 11 A.M., Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Friends may call at the Glenn Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday. Prayers will be said at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Delphine James Addington
March 27, 1928 - June 20, 2002

Mrs. Delphine James Addington, 74, of 3031 San Juan Drive, Owensboro, Kentucky died there June 20, 2002. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Rayburn Addington, on June 21, 1963 and by a daughter, Gail Addington, on September 9, 1962.

Mrs. Addington was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she retired as bookkeeper and secretary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church.

She is survived by one son,Lynn Addington of Owensboro; one daughter, Theresa Railey of Owensboro; three sisters, Beatrice Cundiff and Jean Fuson both of Owensboro and Shirley Alexander of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are to be held in Macedonia Baptist Church on Monday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m.. Visitation is at Glenn Funeral Home on Sunday, June 23 from 12:00 until 6:00 p.m., and again on Monday after 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Centertown cemetery in Ohio County.

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund.

Robert "Bob" Mattingly

Mr. Robert "Bob" Mattingly, 80, of 1233 Gobler Fod Road, Lewisport, Kentucky, died on June 21, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems.

He was a member of Maceo United Methodist Church and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Mr. Mattingly is survived by his wife of 47 years, Willene Mattingly; a son, joe Mattingly of Trenton, Kentucky; two daughters, Sherry Ogle of Maceo, Kentucky and Charlene Eubanks Jones of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marian Estes of Maceo, Kentucky.

Services will be held at Glenn Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. Visitation is at Glenn Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. A commital service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Rosie Lee Douglas, 54, of Owensboro, died Saturday, August 17 at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems. She was preceded in death by her husband,Kenneth Fern Douglas, 1988.

Mrs. Douglas was a Baptist. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Douglas, Jr. and James Everett Douglas both of Owensboro; a daughter, Elizabeth Faye Douglas of Lewisport; a brother, James Sturms of Mt. Vernon, IN; and three grandchildren.

Services will be in Christ Chapel in Owensboro Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, August 21 at 2:30 p.m. Visitaion is on Wednesday from 12 until 2:15 p.m.

Harvey Maxwell Wathen, 73, of Owensboro, died Saturday, August 17, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. Mr. Wathen was preceded in death by his son, Harvey Wathen, Jr., in 1992.

He was retired from Green River Steel and was a member of the Healthpark. Mr. Wathen enjoyed yardwork and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Gilmore Wathen; a son, Ernest Wathen of Houston, TX; a daughter, Ruth Ann Wathen of Houston, TX; two sisters, Mildred Howard of Owensboro and Mary Helen Bove of Kissemmee, Fl.

Services will be at Blessed Mother Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 21, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 20, from 2-8p.m. with prayers at 6 p.m., and again on Wednesday after 9 a.m.

Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery.

Carolyn Jean Allgood, age 46, of 4333 Hawesville-Easton Road, Reynolds Station, Kentucky, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. A native of Breckinridge County, she was born April 26, 1956. Ms Allgood attended Harmony Baptist Church, and enjoyed flower gardening. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Ray Dukes in 2001.

Ms. Algood is survived by her fiancée, Paul Payne of Hawesville, and her parents, Charles and Dorothy McCarty of Maceo. She is also survived by her five children, Herbert Allgood of Owensboro, Tammy Allgood and Dorothy Allgood, both of Maceo, Debbie Allgood of Lebanon, Kentucky, and Anna Allgood of Cannelton, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; four brothers, Kenny McCarty of Knoxville, Tennessee, J.T. McCarty, and Larry McCarty, both of Maceo, and Charles McCarty of Breckinridge County, Kentucky; three sisters, Anna Hamilton of Lewisport, Dessie Poole of Thruston, and Nancy Smiley of Owensboro, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews, also are left surviving.

Funeral services will be at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 11, 2002. Burial will follow in Iron Ore Hill cemetery in rural Daviess County. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 10, from 1 to 8 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until funeral time.

Judith Lou Mitchell Miller

Judith Lou Mitchell Miller, 60, of 5th Street, Livermore, KY died January 27, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in McLean County, Kentucky the daughter of William Warner and Mary Frances Wimp Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Allen Chapman, Sr. on May 3, 1986 and her second husband, Grover Eugene Miller on February 6, 1996.

Mrs. Miller was a nurse’s aid at the former Medco Nursing Home and Mary Harding Home. She attended Island Church of God and was a Neighborhood Grandmother in Livermore. She had cooked at 3rd Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at several churches. She loved writing poetry and crafts.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two sons, Ed Chapman of Ft. Mitchell, KY and Guy Allen Chapman, Jr. of Pleasant Ridge, KY; one daughter, Katrina “Kathy” Rasbold of Sacramento, CA; eight grandchildren, one brother, James Mitchell of Owensboro, four sisters, Ann Mitchell Crenshaw of Melbourne, FL, Julia Sue Mitchell Milby of Greensburg, KY, Betty Mitchell Sosh of Utica, KY and Patsy Mitchell Alvey of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and one aunt.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Harry Wilson. Burial will follow in Red-Hill cemetery in Utica. Her family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2003 and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.

Kenneth E. Wood, 77, of Madisonville, Kentucky died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at his home. He was born in Allen County, KY, a son of the late Lewis E. and Vera Clark Wood.

Mr. Wood retired, after 33 years of service, from Texas Gas as Division Superintendent of Transmission Services at the Madisonville office. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Chapman Wood; three daughters and their husbands, Joy and William Horton of Owensboro, Gay and Joseph Alsup of Louisville, and Kenna and O.B. Moore of Madisonville; three brothers, William Wood of Owensboro, Wallace Wood of Greenville, and Follis Wood of Hardin, TX; a sister, Patty Ann Matthis of Waynesboro, TN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
