Louise Murphy

Louise Murphy, 82, of 1901 Sunset Drive, Owensboro died Sunday, May 23, 2004. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and working jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Earl Murphy on Sept. 14, 2002; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Brown on July 10, 1998.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Connie Murphy of Owensboro; grandchildren, Peggy Brown and husband Mike of Owensboro, James Murphy Jr. and wife Eva of Orlando, Fla., and Jeffery Puckett and wife Angie of Owensboro; and four great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may gather at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Chapel, Owensboro Memorial Gardens, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Lewis Lane Baptist Church.

Mary Louise Higdon Roehm

Mary Louise Higdon Roehm, 90, of Owensboro died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. She was born on May 31, 1913, in Daviess County to the late Bernard and Mary (Strehl) Higdon. She was self-employed as a seamstress for 43 years. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a member of Daughters of Isabella. She volunteered at the Help Office of Owensboro for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Roehm, on Jan. 27, 1975; five brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Charles David Roehm of Owensboro and Edward Roehm of Lewisport; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hugh Higdon, Tommy Higdon and Gene Higdon, all of Owensboro; and a sister, Sister Mary Sheila Higdon of Missouri.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Help Office of Owensboro, 1316 W. Fourth St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Myrtle Westmoreland Smith

LOUISVILLE - Myrtle Westmoreland Smith, 81, of Louisville passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion.

Survivors include three daughters, Marla (Dane) Schaftlein, Shirley (Ron) Lamotte and Diane Borders; three sons, James C. Smith Jr. and James and Horbert Melton; a brother, James Collins; a sister, Edder Hobbs; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. EST Friday at Owen Funeral Home - Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Zachary Taylor National cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilfred Glen Clark

RIDGECREST, Calif. - Wilfred Glen Clark died April 29, 2004, at his home in Ridgecrest. He was 88. Funeral services were held May 4 at St. Ann Catholic Church. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard performed military rites. Mr. Clark was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, and moved to Ridgecrest in 1947. Before his retirement in 1982, he was employed at the Naval Air Warfare Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas G. and Mary Martine Clark; and two brothers, Richard and Robert Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Murphy Clark, formerly of Owensboro; two sons, Patrick and John Clark of Ridgecrest; daughters Connie Williams of Big Pine, Marilyn Clark of Chico, Bettye Slay of Ridgecrest and Mary Therese Walter of Camarillo. Also surviving him are his brothers, George, Wayne and Paul Clark; and a sister, Marilyn Holder, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Owen H. Hinton

Owen H. Hinton, 82, of 821 E. 21st St., Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. He was born June 9, 1921, in Daviess County to Walter Hinton and Essie Boone Hinton and was an oil field worker for 50 years. He retired from Morgan Oil Well Service, H.C. Farmer Oil Producer, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed fishing and citizens band radios. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kelley Hinton, who died June 16, 1985; and a daughter, Mona Lynn Hinton.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Hinton and David Wayne Hinton, all of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law and grandson, Ginny Hinton and Christopher Hinton, both of Owensboro; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Bill Hinton of Owensboro, Wallace Hinton of Philpot and Herman Hinton of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. The Rev. Niki Jorgenson will officiate. The family wishes that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Diabetes Association.

Eunice W. Smith

FORDSVILLE - Eunice W. Smith, 91, of Fordsville died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Fordsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Ohio County and was a homemaker and retired from General American Transportation Corp. She was a member of Narrows Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 62 1/2 years, Raleigh Smith, in September 1990; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Metros and Michael Neeley.

She is survived by two sons, James William Smith and his wife, Sue, and Jewel Thomas Smith and his wife, Jovonne, all of Fordsville; a daughter, Betty Jo Bruno Harreld and her husband, Cedric, of Griffith, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Narrows Baptist Church with burial in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville and after 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Narrows Baptist Church.

Mary M. 'Pat' Osborne

ELIZABETHTOWN - Mary M. "Pat" Osborne, 79, of Elizabethtown died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Vine Grove and spent 17 years in Destin, Fla. She was an avid golfer and UK fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tice and Nettie Pendleton Patterson; a brother, Lewis "Tut" Patterson; and two sisters, Lolah Ritchie and Theresa Gatrost.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William L. "Bill" Osborne Jr. of Elizabethtown; three sons, Randy S. (Margee) Osborne of Elizabethtown, Wayne (Cindy) Osborne of Knoxville, Tenn., and Patrick (Tish) Osborne of Owensboro; a brother, George B. Patterson of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Malbry Osborne, Stephen Osborne and Leslie Osborne; and two stepgrandchildren, Erin and Amy.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. EST at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial will follow in St. James cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a prayer vigil service at 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Emory University Eye Center, 1365 Clifton Road, NE Clinic B, Atlanta, GA 30322, or American Cancer Society.

Freda Southard Pean

LEWISPORT - Freda Southard Pean, 82, of 410 Grace Court, Lewisport, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born May 2, 1922, in Ohio County. Ms. Pean retired from the U.S. government where she was employed in the office of the Social Security Administration, was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Fla., and enjoyed collecting antiques.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Randall Pean of Lewisport; several cousins, including Jerry Northern of Tampa, Fla.; and two sisters-in-law, Ethel Pean and Geneva Pean Moore, both of Owensboro.

Graveside services will be Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam, with burial immediately following. Visitation will be today, May 28, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro.

Albert Vincent

Albert Vincent, 83, of 1801 W. Third St., Owensboro, died at 2:10 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born in Muhlenberg County on July 28, 1920, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a self-employed concrete finisher.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Alexander) Vincent; two sons, Albert Junior Vincent and Robert Harold (Ruby) Vincent, all of Owensboro; two daughters, Joyce Jefford and Vondale (Johnny) Fielden, all of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jean Croft of Evansville; and two brothers, Larry Wayne Vincent of Rockport, Ind., and James Thomas Vincent of St. Louis.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, May 28, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery in Central City. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rebecca Ann Duffey

HOUSTON - Rebecca Ann Duffey, 61, of Houston passed away Monday, May 24, 2004. She was born on Feb. 4, 1943, in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Ring; her mother, Mildred Pridgen; and her stepfather, Henry Pridgen.

Rebecca is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jack Duffey; a daughter, Meredith Duffey-Dixon and husband Jared of Brenham, Texas; her expected grandson, Jackson Thomas Duffey; a sister, Nancy Hooper, and her husband, Richard, of Houston; a nephew, Scott Hooper of Houston; an aunt and uncle, Edith Myles and her husband, Eugene, of Winchester; a cousin, Stephen Myles and his wife, Anne Schudy, of Carbondale, Colo.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 28, in the chapel of J.B. Earthman-Tanglewood Funeral Directors, 5740 San Felipe, in Houston with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to MDA/ALS Research at Baylor College of Medicine, MDA/ALS Clinical and Research Center, c/o IBC Bank, P.O. Box 272243, Houston, TX 77277-2243.

Milford Eugene 'Jack' Renfrow

Milford Eugene "Jack" Renfrow, 90, of Utica, formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at his home. He was born on Oct. 6, 1913, to George W. and Beulah Mae Sapp Renfrow and was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. Jack was an entrepreneur, building and operating several businesses, including the Kentucky Grill, Car-o-noda Motel and the Pizza Hut in Central City. He also built Drive-in Theaters throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, developed the Rose Hill subdivision in Central City and was in the oil drilling business. His last construction project was his current home in Utica, which he built at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerald Lynn Renfrow and Truman Earl Renfrow.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Crowe Renfrow; four sons, Wallace Renfrow of Fort Worth, Texas, Randall Renfrow of Owensboro, Milford Renfrow of Clarksville, Ind., and Glenn Renfrow of Greenville; a daughter, Vicki Coates of Bowling Green; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Earl Renfrow of Owensboro.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at Glenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery and the Rev. Carson Bevil officiating. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church, Central City, Building Fund or Hospice.
