CENTERTOWN - Lillian M. Barks, 90, of Centertown died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. She was born April 10, 1914, in Boma, Tenn., to the late William Dalton and Marinda Jane (Stewart) Martin. She was a retired seamstress from Sunshine Cleaners, a retired postmaster at Boma and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy J. and Franza Stewart of Plymouth, Mich., and Glenn and Rita Stewart of Centertown; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cora Grabowski of Cookeville, Tenn.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Baxter Funeral Home in Baxter, Tenn. Burial will be in New Home cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Richard Leslie Coomes

Richard Leslie Coomes, 74, of 7650 State Route 81, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at his home. He was born May 8, 1930, in Daviess County and retired from the City of Owensboro Fire Department in 1977 and owned and operated R. Coomes & Sons Roofing. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving from 1947 to 1953 and a member of St. Martin Catholic Church. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed raising goats and planting trees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. and Trecia Mount Coomes; a son, Scott Anthony Coomes in 1979; three brothers, Leonard, Harold and Lawrence Coomes; and a sister, Rosalee Bell.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou Coomes; four sons, Richard Coomes II and wife Rebecca of Owensboro, Michael Coomes and wife Patricia of Owensboro, Patrick Coomes of Stockton, Calif., and Russell Coomes and wife Laura of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Melody Alford and husband John of Nashville and Joy Coomes of Nashville; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Coomes of Merkel, Texas; and three sisters, Dorothy Fogle of Owensboro, Mary Edna Waisenon of Dayton, Ohio, and Gertrude Hartshon of Kettering, Ohio.

Services are at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Mills officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lula C. 'Teen' Barr

Lula C. "Teen" Barr, 84, of 1205 Leitchfield Road, Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was a member of Apollo Heights United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, William C. Barr and David H. Barr Jr.; a stepdaughter, Betty Dresback; and a sister, Mildred Atherton.

Services: 3 p.m. today at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial: Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: A favorite charity.

Martina Ann Heisdorffer

Martina Ann Heisdorffer was stillborn on Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville to Kelly and Annette Heisdorffer of Utica.

She is also survived by a triplet brother, Isaac James and a sister, Juliann Carol Heisdorffer; paternal grandparents, Leland and Bonnie Heisdorffer of Sigourney, Iowa; and maternal grandparents, Glenn R. and Carol Meyer of Steelville, Ill.

A graveside service will be held at Owensboro Memorial Gardens on Friday, June 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Norton Suburban Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Memorial Fund in memory of Martina Ann Heisdorffer, 4001 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.

Sherman Glynn Bailey

Sherman Glynn Bailey, 40, of 812 E. Parrish Ave., Owensboro died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at his residence. He was born Nov. 26, 1963, in Muhlenberg County and had been a self-employed carpet installer for 17 years. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen and enjoyed fishing and playing darts with his son.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kristina Woosnam Bailey of Owensboro; two sons, Travis Glynn and Matthew Bailey; his mother and stepfather, Roberta and Donnie Harris of Owensboro; his father and stepmother, Sherman Ray and Pauline Bailey of Belton; a sister, Teresa Hurt of Macon, Ga.; two stepsisters, Karen Morgan of Belton and Linda Kirby of Huntsville; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Jimmy Bunch officiating and assisted by the Rev. Albert Clardy. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Harry 'Billy' Rhineberger

Harry "Billy" Rhineberger, 52, of 4004 Carpenter Drive, Owensboro died Friday, May 28, 2004, at his home. He was born in Owensboro on Sept. 15, 1951, to the late Daniel and Mary Rhineberger. He enjoyed country rides, the lottery and spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include his companion, Michelle Green of Owensboro; two sons, Daniel Rhineberger of Owensboro and Johnny Winters of Owensboro; a daughter, Becky Freeman of Terre Haute, Ind.; a sister, Judy Shelton of Owensboro; a brother, James "Red" Rhineberger of Owensboro; four grandsons, Billy Brown, Bryan Freeman Jr., Justice Freeman and Johnny Winters II; a granddaughter, Aleesa "Doodles" Winters; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at 4004 Carpenter Drive, Owensboro. James H. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patsy J. Elliott Henderson

HAWESVILLE - Patsy J. Elliott Henderson, 70, of Hawesville, formerly of Lyon County died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at her home. She was born in Lyon County and was a former waitress. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Elliott in 1968.

Survivors include four sons, Travis Elliott of Alexandra, Va., Carlin and Traudi Elliott of Reynolds Station, Sam and Kathy Elliott of Hawesville and Danny Elliott of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Elliott, Brian Elliott, Audra Elliott, Alicia Elliott, Andy Elliott, Jennifer Elliott, Danny Lee Elliott, Lisa Payne, Gina Early, Jarod Elliott and Travis Lee Elliott; 10 great-grandchildren, Alex, Devin, T.J., Kenny, Conner, Fallin, Jonathan, Nicholas, Collin and Chelsea; and a brother, Billy Joe Robertson of Illinois.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville conducted by the Rev. Dale Brown. Burial will be in Roseville cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. until services Sunday at the funeral home.

Leora A. Lee

GREENVILLE - Leora A. Lee, 75, of 406 Oakview Drive, Greenville died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at 5 p.m. at her home. She was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Morris, Okla., the daughter of Issac Armstrong and Minnie Schweikhard. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, X.R. Lee; and daughter, Donna Jean Lee.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Lee of Greenville and Johnny Lee of Indiana; three sisters, Ada Dunn of Fort Myers, Fla., Merleavo Davenport of Ellingsburg, Wash., and Marbara Pennington of Lawton, Okla.; a brother, James Armstrong of Houma, La.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at 10 a.m. from Second Baptist Church in Greenville by Dr. Ray England and the Rev. George Thompson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Friends may call Monday, May 31, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church in Greenville.

Byron K. 'Barry' Mayfield

LEWISPORT - Byron K. "Barry" Mayfield, 48, of Lewisport died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born March 3, 1956, to Francis X. "Zeb" and Lillian Davis Mayfield in Daviess County. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the Daviess County Coon Club, enjoyed hunting and playing his guitar and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis X "Zeb" Mayfield, who died June 19, 1997; and a brother, Bobby Mayfield, who died Sept. 8, 1995.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Kari and Todd Huff of Lewisport; a granddaughter, Jenna Brooke Huff; his mother, Lillian Mayfield of Owensboro; four brothers and their wives, David and Vena Mayfield of Owensboro, Harold "Ernie" and Pat Mayfield of Utica, Lawes and Sharon Mayfield of Utica, Terry and Lisa Mayfield of Cornelius, N.C.; four sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Bob Logsdon of Owensboro; Sue and Denny Wedding of Yelvington, Mona and Ronnie Clark of Owensboro and Jackie Mattingly of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Brenda Mayfield of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Jean B. Abney

CALHOUN - Jean B. Abney, 72, of Calhoun died Friday, May 28, 2004, at his home. He retired after 20 years from the Air Force and was a member of Calhoun Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Abney; two daughters, Deborah L. Cheatham and Stephanie J. King; two stepsons, Kevin Snook and Curtis Snook; two stepdaughters, Sandra Hogan and Bonnie Green; a brother, Kenneth L. Abney; and a sister, Jennet Pryor.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial: Calhoun cemetery with military honors. Visitation: From 3 to 7 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Anna C. Walton

BEAVER DAM - Anna C. Walton, 70, of Beaver Dam died Tuesday June 8, 2004, at Professional Care Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hartford. She was born in Ohio County and was retired from Ohio County Hospital as an LPN. She attended Ohio County Christian Center prior to moving to the Professional Care Home. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Ray Walton Sr., in 1985; second husband, James Edward Walton, on Sept. 18, 1998; a son, Bobby Ray Walton Jr., on Sept. 12, 2001; and two infant children.

She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Walton of Evansville; a brother, Terry Embry of Beaver Dam; a sister, Sheena Gaylene Cullen of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, at William L. Danks Funeral in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Rosine cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
