CENTRAL CITY - Everett Preston Clemons, 85, of Central City died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was a retired coal miner and a member of New Life Church in Powderly.

Survivors include his wife, Arizona Ward Clemons; and two stepdaughters, Chree Simms and Carol Pendley.

Services: 3 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Rose Hill cemetery in Central City.

Guy Raymond Hounton

ISLAND - Guy Raymond Hounton, 54, of 305 Bates Hollow Road, Island, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his home in Island. Raymond was born Aug. 2, 1949, in Island to the late Ferdlee and Cordelia Hounton. He worked at the TVA Paradise Plant and was a member of Buttonsberry Baptist Church. Raymond was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Island Station Dancing Group. He also enjoyed Western line dancing, traveling, fishing, spending time with his family and friends and going to church.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Rudd Hounton; two daughters, Tabitha Hounton and April Devine, both of Island; a granddaughter, Kayla Hounton; two stepgrandchildren, Cole Howard and Ragan Howard; three brothers, Robert Hounton and James "Red" Hounton, both of Island, and Earl Hounton of Moorman; and a sister, Ruby Chambers of Island.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Barney Priar officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope cemetery with military honors conducted by McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5415. Friends may visit with the Hounton family from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.

The Hounton family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to McLean County-American Cancer Society-Relay for Life, c/o BB & T, attention: Sandy Baird, P.O. Box 130, Calhoun, KY 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.

Howard Elwood Willingham

Howard Elwood Willingham, 75, of 1696 Cokesbury Court, Owensboro, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Kenosha County, Wis., to the late Pam and Lottie Clouse Willingham. He was retired as a toll plaza operator for the Kentucky Department of Transportation, enjoyed outdoor activities and was involved in various social organizations. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Mae Willingham, in 1972; and his second wife, Catherine M. Willingham, in 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Clinton Willingham of Owensboro and Stephen Bruce Willingham of Orlando, Fla.; a stepson, Gerald Douglas Morrison of Livermore; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 9067, Louisville, KY 40209.

Patsy J. Elliott Henderson

HAWESVILLE - Patsy J. Elliott Henderson, 70, of Hawesville, formerly of Lyon County died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at her home. She was born in Lyon County and was a former waitress. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Elliott in 1968.

Survivors include four sons, Travis Elliott of Alexandra, Va., Carlin and Traudi Elliott of Reynolds Station, Sam and Kathy Elliott of Hawesville and Danny Elliott of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren, Christopher Elliott, Brian Elliott, Audra Elliott, Alicia Elliott, Andy Elliott, Jennifer Elliott, Danny Lee Elliott, Lisa Payne, Oliver Kaimer, Gina Early, Jarod Elliott, Travis Lee Elliott, Jason Elliott and Tim Hess; 12 great-grandchildren, Alex, Devin, T.J., Kenny, Conner, Fallin, Jonathan, Nicholas, Collin, Lilly, Chelsea and Jayten; and a brother, Billy Joe Robertson of Illinois.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville conducted by the Rev. Dale Brown. Burial will be in Roseville cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 a.m. until services today at the funeral home.

Lucille Sanders

BEAVER DAM - Lucille Sanders, 81, of Beaver Dam, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. She was a member of Ohio County Seventh-day Adventist Church and was retired from Beaver Dam Elementary School cafeteria.

Survivors include a son, J. T. Sanders; two daughters, Billie J. Maddox and Vicki Stewart; and a step-daughter, Doris Coffam.

Funeral services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carolyn Faye Sadler

CENTRAL CITY - Carolyn Faye Sadler, 45, of 1013 Reservoir St., Central City died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at 4:45 p.m. on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Muhlenberg County. She was born Sept. 7, 1958, in Chicago and was a CNA at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. She was preceded in death by a son, Jason Neal Sadler; her father-in-law, Scott Justice; and a brother-in-law, Denny Bevil.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Sadler; a daughter, Jessica Faye Sadler of Central City; her mother, Hazel Garrett of Urbana, Ill.; her father, Samuel Garrett of Urbana; an adopted daughter, Nicky Evitts of Eldorado, Ill.; adopted grandchildren, Brandon Shane Hill and Sierra Danielle Piper; brothers, Earl, Gary and Peter Paul Garrett, all of Urbana, David Garrett of Indianapolis and Sammy Garrett of Paducah; sisters, Susan Bevil of Drakesboro and Luann Eaves of Central City; her grandmother, Elnora Garrett of Drakesboro; her mother-in-law, Eva Justice of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 1 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Marcus Hardison officiating and assisted by the Rev. Glendel Hardison. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery in Drakesboro.

Hubert Mattingly

Hubert Mattingly, 98, of 218 E. 21st St., Owensboro, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004, at his home. He was born in McLean County, was a member of Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was the son of the late Elmer Ciccro and Ida Ellen Higgs Mattingly. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and enjoyed reading, McLean County history and traveling. He was retired from the Owensboro School System after 43 years. He taught in Whitley County, Ohio County, McLean County and Owensboro. He was the principal of the former Franklin Elementary School for 23 years. He also was a member of the Daviess County Retired Teacher's Association, AARP, Kentucky Education Association, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Phi Delta Kappa fraternity and was a Kentucky Colonel. He received an associate arts degree from Cumberland College in Whitley County, a bachelor of arts degree and his master's degree from Western Kentucky University and an education specialist degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Doris Lynn Mattingly, in 1949; three brothers, Bertram, Burness and Ben Mattingly; and a sister, Beulah Rickard.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Frances Mattingly; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jane and Sam Jarvis of Macon, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel with committal service and burial at 11 a.m. Thursday in Murray City cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Third Baptist Church, 527 Allen St., Owensboro, KY 42303 or National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky, c/o Tri-State Services for the Blind, 4500 Dixie Highway, 2nd Floor, Louisville, KY 40216.

Basil Ed Foulke

Basil Ed Foulke, 88, of 5334 Kentucky Highway 144, Owensboro, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Evelyn Foulke, on April 12, 1975; and a son, James Foulke, on Oct. 1, 2003. Mr. Foulke was a member of Thruston United Methodist Church, the Ensor Lodge No. 729 F&AM and the Order of the Eastern Star at Ensor. He retired from W.R. Grace in 1978 and had previously worked for Sure Gas Co. in Owensboro for 12 years. He loved work with wood and build furniture.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Monia Foulke; two daughters, Barbara and her husband Bruce Glover of Hawesville and Janice Hall of Antioch, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Foulke of Philpot; two stepsons, Gary Hart and Johnny Hart, both of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Tammy Froehlich of Lewisport; eight grandchildren, Kristie (and Steve) Hayden of Philpot, Eric (and Dannette) Foulke of Paducah, Diana Glover of Owensboro, Larry Glover of Lexington, Jennifer (and Kyle) Burchard of Austin, Texas, Kenneth (and Brenda) Hall of Louisville, Stephanie (and Keith) Bain of Franklin, Tenn., and Ginger (and Jeff) Sims of Decatur, Ala.; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, June 11, at 11:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be today, June 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Thruston United Methodist Church.

Beatrice 'Bea' Woolen

Beatrice "Bea" Woolen, 93, of Utica died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Professional Care Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hartford. Bea was born in Rockport, Ind., on Jan. 22, 1911, to the late Joseph and Ida (Tharpe) Fischer. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Woolen, in 1987.

Surviving are a daughter, Sue Ice and son-in-law Donald of Utica; a granddaughter, Lisa (Ice) Galloway of Utica; and two great-granddaughters, Mariah and Malea Galloway.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, with Father Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Vigil prayers will be said at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Master Sgt. Joseph Merl Howard

MULDRAUGH - Master Sgt. Joseph Merl Howard (ret.) died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. He was born on April 13, 1933, in Owensboro. He was a graduate of St. Frances Academy in Owensboro. Master Sgt. Howard served for 40 years with the U.S. Air Force, receiving numerous citations, medals and ribbons and was an Air Force adviser to the civil air patrol for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Ozetta Montgomery Howard; two sisters, Annette and Lillian Howard; two brothers, Francis M. Howard Jr. and his twin Robert Earl Howard and his wife Jeweline Howard; two sisters, Louise Delehay and Lovone Caysinger; three special friends, Frances Scott and Bob and Mildred Rhoades; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. EDT Thursday at Lebanon National cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Jesse Schroader

BEAVER DAM - Jesse Schroader, 92, of Beaver Dam departed this life on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at his home. He was born Feb. 22, 1912, in Rosine, was a member of Calvary Apostolic Temple in Beaver Dam and had been a farmer most of his life. He loved being on his farm, living for Jesus and being with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lossie Renfrow Schroader, on Oct. 10, 1984; his father, Robert John Schroader, on July 2, 1963; his mother, Annie Schroader, on Feb. 21, 1984; a grandson, Scottie Schroader, on May 14, 1978; three brothers, Robert John Schroader on Jan. 8, 1939, Floyd Schroader on Nov. 6, 1947, and Claudie Schroader, on March 20, 1996; two sisters, Margie Midkiff on Feb. 16, 1979, and Thelma Parks, on July 13, 1995.

He is survived by two sons, Amel Schroader and his wife Velma of Dundee and Leonard Schroader and his wife Ruth of Hartford; two daughters, Doris Rudder of Beaver Dam and Carolyn June Matthews and her husband David of Beaver Dam; a brother, Ira Schroader of Hartford; two sisters, Sylvia Wright of Hartford and Vergie Leach of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren, Paul, Mike, Allen and Kevin Schroader, Janet Schroader, Sonya Southard, Tonya Johnson, Kathy Shelton, Richard Brown, April Lindsey and Marcus Matthews; 20 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Mandy, Dillion, Logan, Michael, Christopher, Heather, Kyle and Kara Schroader, Elicia Fulton, Mathew and Dimond Shelton, Luke Johnson, C.J. and Tish Bowlds, Stephen, Phillip and Stephanie Kirby and Destiny and Janessa Lindsey; and a special friend, Gerald Shreve.

Funeral services will be at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford at 2 p.m. today. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. today.
