BEAVER DAM - Janice Carolyn Tenorio, 49, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was a housewife and member of Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Galo L. Tenorio; three daughters, Michelle Tenorio, Monica Pearl and Angela Sweazy; her mother, Lois Goodman; a brother, Randy Goodman; and four sisters, Roberta Finch, Sue Branson, Sharon Sloss and Sandy Taylor.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. today at Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of arrangements.

Katherine Howard

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Katherine Howard, 89, of Redwood City, formerly of Ohio County, died Thursday, May 27, 2004.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Dee W. Howard of Redwood City; a son, Jerry, and wife Sally Howard of Brentwood, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cates cemetery in Whitesville. There is no visitation. Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville is in charge of arrangements.

Ida Wilma Medlin Clements

Ida Wilma Medlin Clements, 86, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at her home in Owensboro. Born in McLean County, she retired from Toolco where she was a secretary. Mrs. Clements was a member of the First General Baptist Church and served as the church secretary for 43 years, from its founding until 1989. She was also a member of the Friendship Sunday school class, was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of Fanny Holder Women's Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. Clements, on March 18, 2004.

She is survived by a daughter, Sally Ann and her husband Homer Barnett of Owensboro; a son, Joseph Willard and his wife Mary Lyn Clements of Evansville; four grandchildren, Sheena Gayle and Troy Lee Barnett of Owensboro and Mary Catherine and Christopher Joseph Clements of Evansville.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, at First General Baptist Church, 620 Maple Ave., Owensboro, KY. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2004, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Oakland City University, Oakland City, Ind., or to the First General Baptist Church Building Fund.

James Melvin Storm

SPRINGFIELD - James Melvin Storm, 45, of Springfield died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Murray. He was born Feb. 21, 1957, to James R. and Betty Worth Storm in Daviess County. He enjoyed working in his flower garden, cooking and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Storm.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Johnston of Philpot; and one brother, Marvin R. Storm of Hawesville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary C. Durbin

Mary C. Durbin, 82, of 111 W. 18th St., Owensboro, died at 5:23 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born April 17, 1922, in Daviess County to Richard Emmett Head and Ada Mathilda Payne Head and retired from the Executive Inn as a breakfast bar server after nine years. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and her pet dog, Christie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Durbin on Dec. 7, 1973; two brothers, Bernard Head in 1942 and Francis Head in 1987; and a sister, Mary Leora Payne in 1997.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard Martin and Wanda Durbin of Cleveland, Tenn., David E. and Sheila Durbin of Panther, James L. and Cindy Durbin of Philpot and Richard and Mary Durbin of Owensboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Leo Hagan of Owensboro, Linda C. and Robert Shoemaker of Florrissant, Mo., and Connie J. and Danny Thompson of St. Joseph; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; three brothers, James E. Head of Henderson, Earl E. Head of Louisville and Virgil Head of Whitesville; four sisters, Ann Payne of Owensboro, Theresa Rohr of Phoenix, Mary Magdalen Head of Owensboro and Bertha Serich of Lennon, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro with the Rev. Freddie Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and Daughters of Isabella rites will be at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Martha Ann Jones, 81, of 920 Eastwood Drive passed away at her home on Sunday, October 5, 2003. She was born in Hopkinsville, KY on January 3, 1922, was a homemaker and a member of Breckinridge Methodist Church, enjoyed pets and gardening. Preceeded in death was her husband Hershel M. and son George Kenny. Surviving are two sons, William Ford of Owensboro and Wallace Ford of Lumberport, West Virginia, two daughters, Donna Anderson and Louva Hemingway both of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren, Brent Ford, Chris Hemingway, Chelsea Hemingway, and Melissa Dawn Ford, and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are One brother and two sisters.

James Edward Wathen

Departed on Oct. 5, 2003 and resided in Owensboro, KY.

James Edward Wathen, 74, of 5128 Old Henderson Road, Owensboro died Sunday at his home. He was retired from Carpenter Local 549, a member St. Stephen Cathedral and an army veteran of the Korean War. He loved to bird hunt and fish. Mr. Wathen is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bertha Reed Wathen. Also surviving are his sons, James A. and Vernon E. Wathen both of Owensboro, 6 grandchildren and a sister, Mary Lois Matheny of Owensboro.

Stephen Wayne 'Bones' Towery

Stephen Wayne "Bones" Towery, 36, of 2712 Wimsatt Court, Owensboro, died at 6 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at his home. He was born May 30, 1968, in Daviess County and was disabled. He was a graduate of Daviess County High School and was an avid volunteer for various agencies including Hospice and the Wendell Foster Center. He enjoyed spending time with the elderly and volunteered with handicapped children. He was a member of the NRA and a 1991 Star Award for his volunteer services. He also enjoyed fishing and reading books. He had the world's biggest heart and will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Rose Towery of Owensboro; his companion, Anita Bryant of Knottsville; two nephews, Luke and Jacob of Owensboro; a niece, Cassidy of Owensboro; his grandmother, Catherine Wimsatt of Owensboro; a brother and his wife, Joe and Christal Towery of Owensboro; and two sisters, Becky and Sarah Towery of Owensboro.

Services are at noon Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro with the Rev. Freddie Byrd officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association or Wendell Foster Center or Blessed Mother Catholic Church Building Fund.

Narvel 'Buddy' Wood Jr.

ISLAND - Narvel "Buddy" Wood Jr., 64, of Island died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. "Buddy" was born Feb. 22, 1940, in McLean County to the late Narvel and JoLynne Rickard Wood. He received a bachelors degree in agriculture from Murray State University and was a member of Worthington Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer, owner of McLean County Fuels and a partner in Green Valley Farm Supply. He also participated in many farm-related organizations and activities. "Buddy" enjoyed NASCAR racing, the Louisville Cardinals, baseball, water sports and being actively involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Wood; a daughter and her husband, Kim and Paul Roberts of West Louisville; a son, Narvel Wayne Wood III of Island; two grandsons, Brandon Chase Roberts and Tyler Wood Roberts, both of West Louisville; a brother and his wife, Doug and Sandra Wood of Island; a sister and her husband, Anne and Vechel Conrad of Island; his father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Cleo Carnal of Murray; a sister-in-law and her husband, Sue and Richard Smith of Murray; and eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Charles R. Love and the Rev. Ray Binegar officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Chapel cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Wood family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Livermore.

The Wood family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Island Ball Park, c/o First Security Bank & Trust, P.O. Box 248, Island, KY 42350. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.

Elsie M. Greenlee

Elsie M. Greenlee, 89, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at the home of her daughter in New Haven. She was born on April 26, 1915, in Olaton to the late Fitzhugh and Otha (Keith) Martin. She was a member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nade Greenlee, on Nov. 30, 1980; a son, Donald Greenlee on Jan. 30, 2003; a granddaughter, Candice Fancher on July 4, 1988; a brother, Wesley Martin; and a sister, Helen Watts.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Greenlee of Panama City, Fla., and Kenneth Greenlee of Owensboro; three daughters, Martha Thelen of Brandenburg, Mary Renfrow-Maupin of New Haven and Margaret Papantonopoulos of Robinson, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, J.C. Martin of Louisville.

Services are at noon on Monday, June 7, 2004, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, Suite 101, 319 W. 10th St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
