Paul Cecil Quesinberry

ARARAT, Va. - Mr. Paul Cecil Quesinberry, 76, of Ararat passed away Friday, July 16, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Quesinberry was born in Patrick County on April 9, 1928, to Merritt and Georgia Keith Quesinberry. He served our country in the U.S. Army. He was owner-operator of Blu-Vue Electric Co. in Owensboro and was a former member of Apollo Heights Baptist Church, also in Owensboro. After his retirement he moved to the Quesinberry Homeplace in Ararat.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna Quesinberry of Durham, N.C., and Paula Jolly of Owensboro; a son, Alvin Quesinberry, also of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Megan Jolly, Emily Jolly and Ben Quesinberry, all of Owensboro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Freida and Hollis Bullins of Rural Hall, N.C., Delcie Montgomery of Ararat and Geraldine Culler of King, N.C.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlton and Mary Quesinberry of Pinnacle, N.C., Roy and Reba Quesinberry of West End, N.C., and Odell and Amy Quesinberry of Mount Airy, N.C. In addition to his parents, Mr. Quesinberry was preceded in death by two sisters, Imalene Bowman and Virdy Foreman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EST Monday, July 19, at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Mount Airy, conducted by the Rev. Buford Jessup. Burial will follow in the Quesinberry Family cemetery in Ararat. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carolyn Ann Cottrell

CENTRAL CITY - Carolyn Ann Cottrell, 50, of Central City died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at her home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, J.T. Cottrell Sr.; two sons, J.T. Cottrell Jr. and James Cottrell; a stepson, Jimmy Dale Cottrell; four daughters, Lois Boyd, Sonja Taylor, Crystal Hurt and Kelly Cottrell; her mother, Flora Hayes; three brothers, Tommy Hayes, Danny Hayes and Robert Hayes; and three sisters, Glenda Shaw, Ellen Stanley and Mary Knight.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Old Bethel cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Visitation: After 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

David Allen Lam

LEWISPORT - David Allen Lam, 43, of Lewisport, residing at the Heartland Villa Nursing Home, passed from his life and into the arms of his Lord and savior on Thursday, July 8, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born on Jan. 19, 1961, in Indianapolis, but had lived the last several years in Lewisport. David was a member of Lewisport Baptist Church and had worked at the Dollar General Store, The Oaks Nursing Home and Liberty's Jumpin' Jack's. David was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Lam of Indianapolis in December 1998; and his mother, Judy Garmon of Indianapolis in September 2003.

Surviving family members include several brothers and sisters, Vicki Horn of Lewisport, Gary Lam of Tennessee, Randy Lam of Colorado, Cheresa Garmon, Laniesha Sota, Nicole Garmon and Nadia Garmon, all of Indianapolis; and six nephews and four nieces.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport with Brother Gilbert Vandgrift officiating. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Lewisport Baptist Church Building Fund.

Terry J. Inman

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Terry J. Inman, 55, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to all who knew him, went to heaven on June 20, 2004, at his home in Riverside with family at his bedside. He was born in Owensboro and was employed by Fleetwood Industries RV Division in California for more than 30 years.

He graduated from Hancock County High School in 1966, where he played baseball. He attended Murray State University prior to moving to California. He started in the RV industry in 1970 with his brother, Jim. He was Fleetwood sales manager for high-end motor coaches throughout the western section of the country.

He is survived and missed deeply by his wife and best friend, Debbie; a son, Capt. Ryan Inman (USAF) ; a stepdaughter, Kammy; two grandchildren, Timmy and Leah; a brother and wife, Jim and Shirley Inman of Pellville; a sister and husband, Carole and Dana Bishop of Owensboro; nephews, Scott and Greg Inman and Dana Bishop Jr.; nieces, Lisa Puckett, Kim and Margaret Bishop and numerous great-nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death are his father and mother, Bill and Gladys Inman of Pellville; a brother, Bill; and sisters, Mayse, Margaret, Raye and Mary Dorothy of Akron, Ohio.

Memorial and burial services were at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside. Any gratitudes or gifts of service may be made to the City of Hope, Los Angeles, or for cancer research. Any questions may be referred to Jim Inman.

James Wilbert Garfield Hayden

INDIANAPOLIS - James Wilbert Garfield Hayden, 108, of Briarwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Indianapolis, formerly of 2317 W. Ninth St., Owensboro, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis. He was born in Rome and retired from L&N Railroad. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church of Owensboro and a former member of Elizabeth Munday Senior Center and the New Generation Bowling League, both of Owensboro. He was a veteran of World War I. His wife, Mary, died in 1966, and his wife, Gustava, died in 2002, and he was also preceded in death by a son, William.

Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Lee Thomas and Mary Etta Hunter, both of Indianapolis; a son-in-law, Willard E. Thomas of Indianapolis; three stepsons, Reginald V. Johnson of Switzerland, James Anthony Johnson of Bowling Green and Charles Augustus Johnson of Sun Valley, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Shauntee of Cincinnati; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation and Rosary today will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Marvin Boatwright Funeral Services in Indianapolis. Visitation and Rosary will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Young's Funeral Home in Owensboro.

Eva Lacefield

Eva Lacefield, 89, formerly of 1902 Roosevelt House, died at 10:40 a.m., Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Leisure Years Nursing home. She was born on Jan. 14, 1915, in McLean County to James C. Ellison and Sally M. Tucker and was a hairdresser and owner-operator of Owensboro Beauty Salon. She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church and a longtime member of Elizabeth Munday Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lacefield, who died in January 1984; and two daughters, Sue Bellamy and Denise Riley.

Survivors include a son, Jack Myers of Owensboro; three stepsons, Delbert Lacefield of Belvedere, Ill., Pat Lacefield of English, Ind., and Russell Gary Lacefield of Kirkland, Ill. ; a stepdaughter, Lana Barney of San Diego; five grandchildren, Christa Harrison, Kurt Myers, Mark Myers, Jeanine Eaton and Ronnie Bellamy; and five great-grandchildren, Jared and Nicholas Myers, Blake and Kyle Trogden and Sophia Harrison.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. The Rev. Greg Faulls will officiate.

Dixie Drake Bullock

CENTRAL CITY - Mrs. Dixie Drake Bullock, 88, of 245 Batsel St., Central City, died at 1:10 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Muhlenberg County and was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Moorman and was preceded in death by her husband, Margie "Hoss" Bullock; and a daughter, Lucille Allender Myers.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Bullock of Central City; a daughter, Ruth Ann VanWey of Clarksville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Sylvia Britton, Fred VanWey, Tonya Phelps and Chris Bullock; two sisters, Nancy Dunlap of Savannah, Ga., and Mildred Smith of Hartford; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins officiating and assisted by the Rev. Gary Taylor. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery in Moorman. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home.

Thomas Elwood Dickens

Thomas Elwood Dickens, 70, of 2420 W. Third St., Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born on Jan. 20, 1934, in Daviess County to the late Wilson and Nina (Luttrell) Dickens. He was of the Baptist faith. He was previously employed at V.E. Anderson Corp. and the Owensboro Board of Education. He was a veteran of the Air Force, a member of James L. Yates Post. No. 9 American Legion and a life-member of DAV, chapter four.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas Wayne Dickens, Gregory E. Dickens and Kevin Dickens; two daughters, Kimberly Paige Dickens and Tammy Dickens; several grandchildren; two brothers, Allen F. Dickens of Owensboro and Leo Earl Dickens of Hanson; and four sisters, Corrine Pendleton of Rockport, Ind., and Leola Reynolds, Juanita Wilcox and Bonnie Reynolds, all of Owensboro.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro with military services conducted by VFW No. 696. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2420 W. Third St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Leatrice Joy Morris

BREMEN - Leatrice Joy Morris, 78, of 8068 Highway 181, Bremen, died at 11:16 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born June 28, 1926, in Muhlenberg County and was a homemaker and member of Woodson Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianna Jones; four grandchildren, Stacy Holland, Jason Holland, Michael Jones and Yvonne Jones; three great-grandchildren, Casandra Wells, Alexendria Wells and Jeffrey Wells; and two brothers, Richard Noffsinger of Bremen and Lindell "Tunney" Noffsinger of Hartford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindell Morris.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Scott Casebier and the Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial will be in Old Bethel cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruth LaFaver Harden

Ruth LaFaver Harden, 89, of 2316 Cedar St., died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at her home. She was born in Green City, Mo., to the late Walter and Mary Ellen LaFaver. Mrs. Harden was an active member of Third Baptist Church where she was a member of the Vota Vita Sunday school class for many years. She was a member of the Bluegrass Homemakers and Owensboro Woman's Club. She had been the receptionist for the late Dr. J. Edmund Bickel. Her husband, James Chambers Harden, died in 1985.

She is survived by her children, Dell Harden Headen of Lexington, Gay Wilson and her husband Bill of Owensboro and Philip Harden and his wife Judy of Lexington; her grandchildren, Keith Headen of Vevay, Ind., Kendra Franklin of Lexington, Kelly Sampson of Wilmore, Bill Wilson III of Bluffton, S.C., Wendy Wilson of Orlando, Fla., Megan Kaelin of Bluffton, Jenna Fee of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Jay Harden of Lexington; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Family Life Center of Third Baptist Church.

Billy Gene Gilbreath

Billy Gene Gilbreath, 66, of Owensboro died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at home. He was born March 5, 1938, to Claude Charles Gilbreath and Lucille Fortenberry Gilbreath in DeKalb County, Ala., and retired as a self-employed mechanic. He was an Army veteran, a member of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing and motorcycles. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Jr. and Thurl Wayne Gilbreath; and a sister, Wanda G. Aull.

Survivors include a son, Stanley and daughter-in-law, Donna, Gilbreath, of Evansville; two daughters, Kimberly Valentine and Sharon and son-in-law, Garry, Powell, all of Owensboro; a grandchild; a brother, Calvin and Wanda Gilbreath of Owensboro; and a sister, Bobbie and Vernon Cunningham of Owensboro.

Services are at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
