HARTFORD - Mrs. Bonedith Keown Carter, 80, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her home. She was born in Ohio County, the daughter of Herman and Minnie Swift Keown. She was a member of Mount Olive General Baptist Church and was retired from Ohio County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ivan B. Carter, in 1969, and Raymond Filback, in 1991; a grandson; a great-grandson; and a stepgreat-great-granddaughter.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ijean) Whitely of Horse Branch, Mrs. Earl (Garnet) Beasley and Mrs. William (Sharon Elaine) Burton, both of Beaver Dam, Mrs. Carroll (Rebecca Sue) Carter, Mrs. Jerry (Frances) Scoggins and Mrs. Randy (Judy) Trogden, all of Hartford; a son, Glendell Carter of Beaver Dam; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Stewart of Horse Branch; a brother, Franklin Keown of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Steve (Regina) Geary of Beaver Dam; a stepson, Ricky Filback of Dundee; six stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will follow in Leach cemetery near Horse Branch. Friends may visit at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Robert Olander Williams

DRAKESBORO - Robert Olander Williams, 88, of 5912 State Route 70 East, Drakesboro, died at 9:06 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Muhlenberg County. He was a farmer, a member of Union Chapel General Baptist Church and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Gayle Williams and Jeffery Williams, both of Ennis; three grandchildren, Kris, Matthew and Trista; a great-grandchild, Stetson; three stepgrandchildren, Denise, Cassandra and Debi; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Mandi and Samuel.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Union Chapel General Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry Vincent and the Rev. Roger Banks officiating, with the Rev. George Stevens assisting. Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery in Drakesboro. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today, Aug. 3, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Carrie Artenus 'Teenie' Dickinson

GREENVILLE - Carrie Artenus "Teenie" Dickinson, 85, of 137 E. Main Cross St., Greenville, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at 12:55 a.m. in the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville after a lengthy illness. She was born March 9, 1919, in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Pallias Earl Wagoner and Carrie Leona Cobb Wagoner. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 5478 and Madeline Chapter Eastern Star 64. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Walter Dickinson, on March 31, 1993.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmie Don (Beverly) Dickinson of Greenville and Jeff (Sue) Dickinson of Greenville; five grandchildren, Cammie (Scott) McIntosh, Jarrod (Tracy) Dickinson, Krista (Jeff) Everly Taylor, Jon (Amy) Dickinson and Jason (Lori) Dickinson; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Carmen Taylor of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 26, 2004, at 11 a.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by Dr. H. Curtis Erwin. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery in Greenville. Friends may call at Gary's Funeral Home today between 5 and 8 p.m.

James Anthony 'Tony' Keeling

BREMEN - James Anthony "Tony" Keeling, 48, of 8580 State Route 70 West, Bremen, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 8, 1955, in Muhlenberg County and was an iron worker. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Depoy.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Shanks Keeling; three sons, Tony Keeling of Bremen, Robert Noffsinger of Bremen and Dillon Noffsinger of Bremen; six daughters, Christy Keeling of Greenville, Cindy Keeling of Greenville, April Griffin of Beaver Dam, Ashlin Keeling of Bremen, Sabrina Noffsinger of Bremen and Angelica Noffsinger of Bremen; four grandchildren, Sierra Keeling, Destiny Keeling, Alexus Keeling and Dashton Keeling; his mother, Martha Blass of Greenville; and a sister, Patricia Latham of Oak Grove.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Brother Jerry Whitehouse officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery in South Carrollton. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Emma 'Pat' Gehlbach
07/28/04

Emma "Pat" Gehlbach, 88, of Owensboro, and a longtime resident of Henderson, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. A teacher in the Henderson city schools for more than 20 years, she continued to tutor local students and teach adult literacy after her retirement. An active member of First United Methodist Church of Henderson, she served on the administrative board, Henderson Ministry Outreach Board and was a member of the Lucy Moss Circle.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane Perkins of Hawesville and Ruth Blakeman of Owensboro; two sons, Ralph Gehlbach of Denton, Texas, and Richard Gehlbach of Lexington; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Margaret Craun; and her husband, Melvin P. Gehlbach.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gehlbach will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at First United Methodist Church in Henderson. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson and from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Union cemetery in Lincoln, Ill., on Friday, July 30, at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be donated to Henderson Christian Community Outreach, 422 7th St., Henderson, KY 42420 or The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall St., 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005-4001.

Abagale Ann Rager

BREMEN - Abagale Ann Rager, 15 weeks, of Bremen died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her home.

Survivors include her parents, John and Bobbie Kaye "Tootsie" Rager; a sister, Kelsey Kaye Rager; and her grandparents, John and Martha Rager.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Living Word Church. Burial: Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation: After 8:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Russell A. Hayden Sr.
07/07/04

Russell A. Hayden Sr., 73, of 2026 Fernwood Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at his home. He was born in Daviess County to the late Frank Urban and Lela Newton Hayden, on Oct. 19, 1930. Mr. Hayden, a graduate of Brescia College with a bachelor of science degree in accounting, retired after 41 years of service from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. At the time of his retirement he was assistant manager of corporate taxes. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a founding member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he served in various capacities, such as bookkeeper, president of the Men's Club, Little League baseball coach and St. Vincent De Paul Society. Mr. Hayden enjoyed all sports. He was passionate for Owensboro Catholic football and a devoted UK fan. He was a 41-year member of Texas Gas bowling and golf leagues.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Marjorie Schrecker Hayden; five daughters and their husbands, Vickie and Chris Warren, Karen and David Jarboe, Jill and Kenny Young and Cheri and Phil Hayden, all of Owensboro, and Donna and Gary Thompson of Waddy; three sons and their wives, Russell and Vicki Hayden Jr. and John and Mary Margaret Hayden of Owensboro, and Steve and Kristie Hayden of Philpot; 30 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Geraldine Craig of Richmond, Va., and Mary Lois Limbach of Boca Raton, Fla.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, with entombment following in Resurrection cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301 or Owensboro Catholic High School, 1524 W. Parrish Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Hoyt Phillips

Robert Hoyt Phillips, 87, of Owensboro died Monday, July 12, 2004, at his home. Born Oct. 7, 1916, in Calloway County, Mr. Phillips was retired from National Aluminum where he was a roll mill operator. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Murray, Masonic Lodge 130 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Detroit, Mich., and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and watching the Atlanta Braves. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, James Wiley and Lydia Ann Morton Phillips; a son, Jerry Phillips; a sister, Annie Phillips Lassiter; and a brother, Joseph Elmus Phillips.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn Glover Phillips; a daughter, Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Phillips of Owensboro; three sons, James Hoyt Phillips of Denton, Md., Jackie Dwight Phillips of Walterboro, S.C., and Joseph Keith Phillips of Hartford; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Nance of Murray and Estelle Howe of Norwalk, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Inis Phillips of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Resurrection cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. and after 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Lucille Schweikarth

Lucille Schweikarth, 84, of Owensboro went home to be with Jesus Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Knottsville on May 16, 1920, Mrs. Schweikarth was the daughter of the late Francis Titus Johnson and Petronilla Speak Johnson. She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and retired from General Electric in 1981 after 35 years as an inspector. She was a devoted and loving mother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons and great-grandson, and collecting antiques. Mrs. Schweikarth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "J.C." Schweikarth, in 1994.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Phillip Clark of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Courtney Clark, Dr. Aaron Clark and Travis Clark, all of Owensboro; a great-grandchild, Tyler Clark of Owensboro; two brothers, F.T. Johnson and Harold Johnson, both of Owensboro; four sisters, Mac Hester, Margie Clark, Cecilia Hawkins and Mildred Smith, all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Joseph's Peace Mission.

Charles Francis Hamilton
07/25/04

Charles Francis Hamilton, 71, of 204 Church St., Owensboro, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Daviess County to Beulah Mae Coomes and Thomas Arville Hamilton. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Operating Engineers Local 181 and from farming and was a member of St. Peter Alcantara Catholic Church.

Survivors included a brother, Joe Hamilton of Owensboro; four sisters, Marie Mattingly of Owensboro, Patricia Rose Hirsch of Evansville, Martha Rutt of Newburgh, Ind., and Helen Vance of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Stanley with the Rev. Ray Goetz officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Sharon Kay Robbins Henning

HARDINSBURG - Sharon Kay Robbins Henning, 50, of Harned died Friday, July 16, 2004, at her residence. She attended Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Lee Michael Henning; her mother, Ruth Robbins; two sisters, Shirley Bland and Sue Baldwin; and five brothers, Bill Raine, Roger Robbins, Ray Robbins, David Robbins and Stevie Robbins.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: Hensley cemetery near Garfield. Visitation: From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Hensley cemetery.
