Anna Louise Lowe

Anna Louise Lowe, 87, of Leisure Years Nursing Home died there Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004. She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in McLean County to Charlie and Bretta Vance West. She was of the Baptist faith and was a foster grandparent for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rethel E. Lowe in 1982; and a grandson, Stanley William Rowland in 1987.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Lowe of Owensboro, Rethel (Jessi) Lowe of Owensboro and Rodney Lowe of Dale, Ind.; two daughters, Charlotte Rowland of Owensboro and Rebecca Embry-Elmendorf of Evansville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Mayfield of Russellville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Utica. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Samantha Reshea Reynolds

FORDSVILLE - Samantha Reshea Reynolds, 9-month-old infant daughter of Steve and Becky Reynolds of Fordsville, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at her home. She was born in Evansville on Oct. 20, 2003. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Paul E. Wilson.

She is survived by her parents and a sister, Kacey Reynolds, at home; maternal grandmother, Faye Wilson of Fordsville; paternal grandparents, Paul and Joan Reynolds of Hawesville; and maternal great-grandparents, Earl "Doc" and Shirley Wilson of Owensboro and Doreen Sowders of Whitesville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville, with burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Samantha Reshea Reynolds Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Hubert S. Wilson

HARDINSBURG - Hubert S. Wilson, 92, of Hardinsburg died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Medco Center. He was a member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Smith Wilson; and five daughters, Ruth Gail Schickinger, Jean Meriwether, Anna Francis Stinnett, Betty McCarty and Wanda Reeves.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Hardinsburg Baptist Church. Burial: Ivy Hill cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation: From 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Memorial contributions: Hardinsburg Baptist Church Building Fund.

Theodore Thirl 'Ted' Comer

LEWISBURG - Theodore Thirl "Ted" Comer, 59, of 254 Shady Cliff Road, Lewisburg, died at 8:58 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville. He was born March 15, 1945, in Detroit and was a member of Assembly of God in Greenville. He was a staff process engineer at Logan Aluminum in Russellville.

Survivors include his wife, Renae "Rece" Comer of Lewisburg; a son, Todd Comer of Lexington, S.C.; two daughters, Kelli Aluise of Huntington, W.Va., and Tammi Sommer of Gallipolis, Ohio; a stepson, Craig Bickers of Scottsboro, Ala.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Sayers of Glouster, Ohio, and Rita Cardwell of Vinton, Ohio; and a brother, Miker Comer of Mountain Home, Tenn.

Services are at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Vinton (Ohio) Memorial Park. Visitation for Mr. Comer will be held after 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home and Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Moore Funeral Home in Vinton. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vinton Memorial Park.

Hazel Marie 'Mamaw Hartford' West
08/04/04

HARTFORD - Hazel Marie "Mamaw Hartford" West, 79, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of the late Ernest and Laura Murphy. She was a homemaker and a member of Hartford Second Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Greg West of Utica and Phillip West of Philpot; five grandchildren, Jeanetta West of Ghent, Phillip Anthony West of Owensboro, Michelle Dawn West of Rockport, Ky., Joshua West of Owensboro and Aaron West of Utica; and two sisters, Violet Anderson of Madisonville and Ruth Carr of Louisville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Phyllis Avanell 'Kitten' Newman

BEECH CREEK - Phyllis Avanell "Kitten" Newman, 80, of 185 Beech Creek Road, Beech Creek, died at 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at her home. She was born July 7, 1924, in Muhlenberg County and was a member of Beech Creek Methodist Church. She was a retired restaurant manager.

Survivors include her husband, Marshell Yost Newman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmie and Harold Bowers of Haubstadt, Ind., and Patricia and Jimmy Rager of Beechmont; five grandchildren, Joseph P. Bowers, Mickey R. Bowers, Benjamin Drew Bowers, Chad Rager and Chris Rager; four great-grandchildren, Chase Bowers, Justin Bowers, Faith Bowers and Leighia Bowers; and three sisters, Corrine Knight and Wanda Luckett, both of Beechmont, and Pat Kirtley of Belton.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Henry 'Sam' Saalwaechter

HENDERSON - Henry "Sam" Saalwaechter, 83, of Henderson died at 2:40 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Methodist Hospital. He was a member of Stanley Baptist Church. He was retired from the Henderson County School System, where he worked for 50 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and greatly loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Beulah Hundley Saalwaechter; and by a daughter, Cherie Willett.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Pauline Tackett Saalwaechter; a daughter, Paula Shelton of Henderson; two sons, Samuel E. Saalwaechter of Corydon and Mike Saalwaechter of Henderson; a sister, Henrietta Quinn of California; four brothers, Arthur Saalwaechter, James Saalwaechter and Kenneth Saalwaechter, all of Owensboro, and Joe Saalwaechter of Stanley; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Pete Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children.

Robert 'Bob' Perry

Robert "Bob" Perry, 81, of Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004. He was born in Stanton, Tenn., to the late Sam and Linkey Bell Perry. He retired from Hall Street Baptist Church as a custodian. He enjoyed watching sports, walking and visiting neighbors. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, J.W. Rivers and Joseph Perry; and a sister, Sophia Harwel.

Survivors include two sons, William T. (Sheila) Harris of Killeen, Texas, and Chris Cline of Owensboro; eight daughters, Barbara McDonald, Stella Stokley, Shirley (James) Alexander, Patricia (Jackie) Calhoun, Lisa Woods and Stephanie R. Smith, all of Owensboro, Kim Y. Harris of Smyrna, Ga., and Wendy Walker of Texas; a sister, Lucy Pewett of Gary, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services are at noon Saturday, Aug. 14, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Patricia G. 'Pat' Minton

HARTFORD - Patricia G. "Pat" Minton, 73, of 222 W. Union St., Hartford, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at her home. She was born May 24, 1931, in Centertown to the late Wilbur Gray and Ruby Mae Stewart Gray. She retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis and worked at Wal-Mart in Beaver Dam. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Lizzie Ford Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved UK basketball and NASCAR races. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kara Donner, on Dec. 3, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Michael Minton of Fairfax County, Va.; a daughter, Lisa M. Mitchell of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Daniel Gamberg, Adam Gamberg, Andrea Donner and Kimberly McDonald; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Brother Ed Mitchell officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Charles Neel Harrison

Charles Neel Harrison, 79, of 3606 Bordeaux Loop North, Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Evansville. He was born June 6, 1925, to the late Elmer Neel and Beulah Winkler Harrison in Daviess County. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, retired from Texas Gas Transmission Land Department in 1985 with more than 35 years of service, and was currently employed by RWRA as a contract landman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Maverick Sunday school class and the Hardee's Coffee Bunch and was a Kentucky Colonel and Mason. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats, Atlanta Braves and his collie, Shelby. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Hudson, in January 2002.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Gaye Reynolds Harrison; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Mike Harrison and Judi of Clarksville, Tenn., and Kevin Mark Harrison and Anna of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Angie, Brad, John, James and Joanie; and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will immediately follow in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children or Owensboro-Daviess County Humane Society.

Frances Marion Allgood Howard

LEWISPORT - Frances Marion Allgood Howard, 80, of Lewisport died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. She was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Daviess County, the daughter of the late Nathan Boone and Nellie Golden (Spillman) Allgood. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and was retired from General Electric, where she worked in the Owensboro and Tell City, Ind., plants. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cleatus Lotus Howard, in 1978; a brother, Edwin Allgood; and two sisters, Mabel Helen Allgood and Dorothy Mae Allgood Hayden.

Survivors include a daughter, Regina Haycraft of Lewisport; two grandchildren, Scott Haycraft and Melissa Haycraft, both of Lewisport; four grandchildren, Patrick, Brandon, Xavier and Natalie; two nephews, Eddy and Mike; and five nieces, Janice, Dorothy, Becky, Sherry and Mackey.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home, with Brother William S. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
