Richard 'Dick' Joseph Haase

SAN ANTONIO - Richard "Dick" Joseph Haase, 1913-2004, passed away on July 28, 2004, after a 10-month long battle with cancer, in San Antonio. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., and had roots in Owensboro because of the Taylor family farm. Richard was the second son of Virginia Taylor Haase and Elmer Joseph Haase. He worked for Shell Oil in Houston until his retirement and lived a very active life until recently. He enjoyed traveling, bird watching, skiing and white water rafting in the last five years of his life. He had the reputation among family and friends of being able to fix almost anything. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Richard is survived by his sister, Eleanor Phillips; his sons, Richard and Robert; his daughters, Virginia and Elizabeth; and his grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, Patricia, Ricki Lee, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Bernard. He also leaves behind his great-granddaughters, Taylor and Shannyn; his nephews, Kenneth Phillips and David Phillips; and nieces, Sara Fink, Camilla Haase and Eleanor Haase and all their children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert in 1996.

Richard's ashes will be buried next to those of his beloved wife of 49 years, Lucile Goudy (1918-1988) in the Hawes family cemetery in Maceo on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004. For information please contact Ben Taylor at 270-264-5270.

Douglas Wainwright Glenn

Douglas Wainwright Glenn, 61, of 377 Boling Road, Utica died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on Oct. 10, 1942, in Grayson County to the late James Glenn I and Virginia (Stevenson) Glenn. He was a member of Local 561 Laborers, retired from Carpenter's Local 549 and was a Mason. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Glenn; two sons, Jimmy Glenn of Owensboro and Travis Glenn of Pleasant Ridge; a daughter, Danielle Horn of Owensboro; a stepson, Bruce Crabtree of Owensboro; three stepdaughters, Donna Hall of Richland, Ind., Cindy Stiff of Utica and Alicia Myers of Rockport, Ind.; several grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; a brother, Bill Glenn of Spencer County, Ind.; and three sisters, Mary Searcy, Hazel Embry, Marjorie Woodard and Frances Abell, all of Leitchfield.

Visitation and services are private with Brother Tim Roberts officiating. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Taylor Crowder

Lillian Taylor Crowder, 92, was born July 23, 1912, in Ohio County and died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in Los Angeles where she lived with her daughter, Sue Crowder Cutler, for the last 11 years. Lillian, widow of Dr. Marion O'Connell Crowder, lived most of her life in Owensboro.

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, she is survived by her only daughter, Sue; as well as her grandchildren, Curt (Kelly) Scheyhing and Susan (Wayne) Gordon; stepgrandchildren, Susan (Jeff) Cutler, Nancy (Steve) Lieberman, Sandra (Walter) Boyles and Andy Cutler; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at 4 p.m. at the Pacific Unitarian Church, 5621 Montemalaga Dr., Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. (310) 378-9449. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Box 1856, Merrifield, Va. 22116-8056 or to the Pacific Unitarian Church.

Perlie Lois Baggarly

BEAVER DAM - Perlie Lois Baggarly, 71, of Beaver Dam died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at his home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Baggarly and David Barnett; three daughters, Dorothy Bickers, Joan McIntire and Janet Adams; two brothers, Jimmy Smith and Clifford Smith; and three sisters, Betty Embry, Shirley Leach and Wanda Ball.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Carson cemetery in Hartford. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ruby K. Rigdon

HENDERSON - Ruby K. Rigdon, age 80, of Henderson went to be with the Lord at 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Rigdon was a lifelong Pentecostal and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Sam W. Rigdon Sr.; two sons, Sammy Rigdon Jr. and David Rigdon Sr.; a grandson, Aaron Rigdon; and her parents, Bryant and Goldie Phillips.

Survivors include a caregiver, Sarah Fredrick of Henderson; four daughters, April Ziemer and Judy Clark, both of Owensboro, and Ginger Hast and Deborah Miller, both of Henderson; three sons, A. Dale Rigdon Sr. of Henderson, Philip A. Rigdon Sr. of Brentwood, Tenn., and the Rev. Paul T. Rigdon of Zion; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruby K. Rigdon will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson. The Rev. Richard Meredith will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at Tapp Funeral Home.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Nancy Jackson

BEAVER DAM - Nancy Jackson (nee Fee) , 86, of Beaver Dam died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in Belleville, Ill. She was born in Avawam on March 27, 1918, to Maggie Miniard and Hiram Fee. She grew up in Pansy, married Hix Jackson on Dec. 30, 1934, and raised five children there. She and her family were very active in the Pansy Missionary Baptist Church. She belonged to the WMU, taught Sunday school and was active in the Eastern Star. Nancy and Hix relocated to Beaver Dam in 1965. There she and Hix became active in the Independence Baptist Church in McHenry. Hix passed on in 1993 and in 2000 Nancy moved to live with her daughter Mary Lou in Belleville.

Nancy enjoyed church, sewing, reading, quilting, gardening and most of all her children and grandchildren. She was a loving, generous woman who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Her greatest joy in life was to see the six generations she and Hix started.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Shepherd of Belleville and Yvonne Pershall of Minooka, Ill.; her grandson, Randy Jackson of Rockport; two daughters-in-law, Merline Jackson of Morris, Ill., and Alta Sorrels of Beaver Dam. She also lives on in her 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Independence Baptist Church near McHenry. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens in Oliver Springs, Tenn. Visitation will be at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.

Doraneil V. Hurt

BEAVER DAM - Doraneil V. Hurt, 71, of 1783 Bernheim Lane, Louisville died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Nortons Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Ohio County and retired from Brown-Williamson Tobacco Co. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Ohio County and the Moose Lodge in Louisville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Neil Hurt Sr. on May 4, 1993; her second husband, Veachel McCoy; a son, Robert Neil "Bobby" Hurt on Aug. 4, 2004; a son-in-law, Robert Johnson; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Jo Stewart.

Survivors include a son, James D. "Jimmy" Hurt of Louisville; three daughters, Pamela and husband Terry Tiller, Kimberly and husband Brian Price and Angela Johnson, all of Louisville; a sister, Vaunita Sipes of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Go rest high on a mountain Mom, because you deserve it.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until services Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Louisville.

James G. Hudnall

James G. Hudnall, 75, of Owensboro died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at the University Hospital in Louisville. He was born June 26, 1929, to the late Clyde and Euva Givens Hudnall. Mr. Hudnall was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church where he was a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday school class. He was retired from Colonial Bakery where he was a mechanic. Mr. Hudnall was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed playing golf, watching University of Kentucky basketball and working on cars.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Miller Hudnall; a son, Tim and his wife Ann Hudnall of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Sheila McDaniel of Dunedin, Fla.; five grandchildren, Thomas Hudnall and Charlotte Hudnall of Knoxville and Cameron McDaniel, Matthew Li and Michael Li of Dunedin; a brother, Bobby Hudnall of Penrod; and two sisters, Marci Whittaker of Lewisburg and Joyce Rohrer of Russellville.

Funeral services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, and after 10 a.m. on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hall Street Baptist Church Activities Center.

Ki Hunter Fredell

Ki Hunter Fredell, infant son of Amber Epley and Sam Fredell of Owensboro, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at University of Louisville Medical Center.

Other survivors include a brother, Sebastian Fredell; his paternal grandparents, Dianna Krahwinkel and Sam Fredell Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Mike and Patty Epley.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. Monday at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. James H. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elmer Darrell Arnold

CROMWELL - Elmer Darrell Arnold, 76, of Cromwell died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Bettye Richardson Arnold; three sons, Glendon Arnold, Perry Arnold and Kelley Arnold; and three daughters, Ramona Kowgitz, Charlene Creager and Jackie Arnold.

Services: 1 p.m. Sunday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, c/o Becky Tichenor.
