HAWESVILLE - Edyth F. Stevens Crask McBrayer, 85, of Hawesville died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at her home. She was born Aug. 4, 1919, to the late Bob and Flo Nugent Stevens in Chambers. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church and retired from the dietary department at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Stevens; and a nephew, Rick Stevens.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara "Bobbie" Jackson and her husband, William "Billy," of Hancock County; two grandchildren, Toni Cox and husband, Gary, of Hancock County and Ronald Jackson and wife, Sheri, of Lewisport; six great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Trisha and Melissa Jackson, Shannon and husband Jeremy Corley and Kayla and Jordan Cox; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Bethany Corley.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville, with the Rev. Larry Sosh officiating. Burial will be in Blackford Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. All donations are to be made to Hospice. Envelopes will be at the funeral home.

Mary C. Keiser

Mary C. Keiser, 82, of 4433 Strickland Drive, Owensboro passed away on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Warren County, was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Herman E. Keiser; two sons and their wives, David and Betty Keiser of Owensboro and Daniel and Edna Keiser of Owensboro; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six brothers, James, Carl, Samuel, Marvin, Frank and Charles Hayden, all of Owensboro; and three sisters, Margaret Blincoe and Fairy J. Ford, both of Owensboro and Margie Wilkerson of St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, 230 J.R. Miller Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42303.

Jerry Duke Thomson

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Jerry Duke Thomson, 67, of Shepherdsville passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was a native of Daviess County and an Army veteran. He taught in Daviess County and was a retired teacher and administrator for the Jefferson County Public Schools. He was a member of Shepherdsville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) , Shepherdsville Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross Friends Committee, Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency, Bullitt County Shriners "Citizen of the Year" in 2002, and a former Boy Scout and Girl Scout volunteer.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janet McGinnis Thomson; two children, Julie (Kenneth) Dyson and John (Cynthia) Thomson of Lorton, Va.; two brothers, James Lony (Henrietta) and Tony (Gayle) Thomson, both of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Danyell and Brandon Thomson and Kendall and Keyona Dyson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Mr. Thomson's funeral service will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday, Aug. 13, at Shepherdsville Christian Church. Burial will be Saturday, Aug. 14, at Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville. Visitation will be at First Christian Church in Owensboro at 10 a.m. CST with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. Saturday. Memorial gifts may be made to his church.

William Paul Moore

William Paul Moore, 71, of 51 Dublin Lane, Owensboro, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was a retired coal miner.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Gibson Moore; four sons, David Gibson, Anthony Moore, Jerry Moore and Michael Moore; two daughters, Carrie Moore and Rhonda Gibson; three brothers, James Moore, Frank Moore and Robert Moore; and five sisters, Lois Morehead, Margie Draper, Mildred Crick, Shirley Pendley and Mary Day.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Fairmount cemetery in Central City. Visitation: After 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Freeman Wayne 'Freebird' Jackson
08/04/04

Freeman Wayne "Freebird" Jackson, 39, of 706 E. Glenn Court, Owensboro, went to rest with Jesus on Aug. 2, 2004. He was born Jan. 7, 1965, in Owensboro. He attended Wing Avenue Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and camper.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Sandy Williams Jackson; two sons, Christopher Jackson and Michael Jackson, both at home; his parents, Sidney Ray and Ruby Knight Jackson of Owensboro; two brothers, Thomas E. Jackson of Evansville and William Bruce Jackson of Owensboro; three sisters, Barbara S. Morris of Evansville and Elizabeth E. Lewis and Rebecca Tonini, both of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Freeman Wayne Jackson Memorial Fund, c/o Thomas Jackson, 2803 Boxwood Lane, Evansville, IN 47715.

Patricia Ann Marx

GREENVILLE - Patricia Ann Marx, 69, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at 4:55 p.m. in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born in Evansville on Jan. 27, 1935, the daughter of Guy B. Aud and Audrey Ruth Masser Aud. She lived in Muhlenberg County for 28 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Aud.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Marx of White Plains; two daughters, Rose Ann (Tom) Hodges of Maryville, Tenn., and Cinda (Greg) King of Louisville; one son, Bobby Marx of Greenville; six grandchildren, Robin Dale Hodges, Glen Hodges, Corinna Hodges, Casey Hodges, Abby King and Samuel King; and three sisters, Ruth Jane Fisher of Evansville, Doris Hollis of Evansville and Docia Lee of Fort Myers, Fla.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Aug. 8 at 3:30 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by the Rev. Robert Thurman and assisted by the Rev. George Thompson. Burial will be in the Greens Chapel cemetery near Greenville. Friends may call at Gary's Funeral Home today between 5 and 8 p.m. at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Hallie Humphrey

DEPOY - Mrs. Hallie Humphrey, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at 3:55 p.m. at her home in Depoy, following several months' illness. She was born in Muhlenberg County on Sept. 22, 1922. She was a member of White Plains Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Humphrey in 1985; a son, Claude Humphrey Jr. in 1942; and three brothers, Fount Majors, Henry Thomas Majors and Jessie Majors; and her parents, Tom and Ranie Groves Majors.

Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 7, at 1 p.m. at Gary's Funeral Home by the Rev. Wallace Carlton. Burial will be in Yeargins Chapel cemetery in Graham.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann (Glendel) Garrett of Greenville; two sons, Clarence (Ann) Humphrey of Greenville and Charles (Debbie) Humphrey of Paducah; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Flora Vanvactor of White Plains; a brother, Orville Majors of White Plains; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Helen DeLacey

Mary Helen DeLacey, 87, of 8964 West Fifth Street Road, Owensboro died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at her son's home in Birk City. She was born April 1, 1917, to the late Kendrick and Annie Jarboe Coomes in Daviess County. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flower garden and playing with her pet dog, Tinker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank DeLacey, who died April 15, 1980.

Survivors include one son, John Leroy DeLacey of Birk City; one daughter, Mary Frances Fogle and her husband, Thomas E.; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Fogle, Laura Fogle Ly, Timothy Fogle and Amy Fogle; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Coomes of Knottsville; and one sister, Euphrsia Johnson of Owensboro.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. at the church. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

David Neil Arnold

GREENVILLE - David Neil Arnold, 54, of Greenville died at his home Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004. He was a monument worker.

He is survived by his wife, Nora June Arnold; a daughter, Tammy Berry; a son, Daniel Arnold; two sisters, Betty Hacker and Darlene Allen; and two stepchildren, David Allan Rajack and Natasha Gallaty.

There are no services. Gary's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby H. Moore
08/12/04

Bobby H. Moore, 64, of 374 Boling Road, Utica, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at his home. He was born in Butler County to the late Robert Bluford Moore and Dona Alice Jenkins Moore. Mr. Moore and his family previously lived in Mosleyville for 33 years. He was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 181 for six years. Prior to that, he worked for Green Coal Co. for 30 years. He enjoyed finding and restoring old tractors, horse and mule riding, camping, wagon riding, hunting and fishing. Mr. Moore was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Kathleen Moore; a son, William D. Hedges and wife, Laurie A. Hedges, of Calhoun; a daughter, Cissy Baize and fiancé, Tim Stevens, of Calhoun; two sisters, Joyce and Gene Smith and Virginia L. and Jerry Cooper, both of Owensboro; and a brother, Finis Earl and Dorothy Moore of Owensboro. He has three grandchildren, Blake Baize, Damian Hedges and Audra Hedges, all of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held at Glenn Funeral Home chapel Saturday, Aug. 14, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 13, from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will follow the service in Greenbriar Baptist Church cemetery in Utica.

William T. 'Bill' Head

William T. "Bill" Head, 33, of 704 Poindexter St., Owensboro, died at 10:02 p.m., Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Dec. 16, 1970, in Daviess County to Charles Head Sr. and Brenda Howard Lindsey and was employed at Ace Lube as assistant manager for seven years. He was a member of the Catholic faith and enjoyed being outdoors, fishing with his brothers and, especially, barbecuing. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Head Sr., in 1993.

Survivors include his fiancee, Kimberly Morris; and he was the loving father of Tyler and Travis, both at home. Other survivors include his mother, Brenda Lindsey of Owensboro; his stepfather, David Lindsey of Owensboro; his grandparents, Thurman and Marie Howard of Owensboro; two brothers, Charles Head Jr. and John Michael Head and his wife, Tara, all of Owensboro; a niece, Annie Wood; and three nephews, Matthew Head and John and Allen Head.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Elba. The Rev. Dennis McFadden will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to William T. "Bill" Head Memorial Fund.
