Anna V. 'Annie' Hamilton

Anna V. "Annie" Hamilton, 91, of Whitesville died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and belonged to the Legion of Mary church altar society. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by three children, Joseph Bernard Hamilton, Mary Angelia Hamilton and Bernadette Wedding.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, George "Cake" Hamilton; two daughters, Annie Marie Roberts of Owensboro and Rose Mariam Payne of Owensboro; two sons, Randall Hamilton of Whitesville and Carl Hamilton of Lexington; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Visitation is from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Mary's Building Fund.
Harding G. Armes

HARNED - Harding G. Armes, 77, of Harned died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at his home. He was a farmer and attended Emmanuel Fellowship Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Lucas Armes; a son, Ronnie Armes; four daughters, Jean Greenwell, Joan Robbins, Pam Miller and Mary Tucker; and a sister, Lucy Brown.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: Fairview cemetery in Se Ree. Visitation: From 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dr. Henry Carroll Smith

Dr. Henry Carroll Smith, 82, of 3943 Highway 54, Owensboro, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, on his farm in Ohio County. Dr. Smith was presently active in his dental practice of 50+ years. He was born in Rochester to the late Dr. Henry N. and Marie Stevens Smith and was preceded in death by his sister, Marie "Boots" Brown; and two brothers, Worth Smith and Glenn "Jack" Smith.
Dr. Smith was a graduate of University of Louisville School of Dentistry and Western Kentucky University Teacher's College. He was a member of the American Dental and Kentucky Dental Associations. He was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and a veteran of the Korean War, former board member of Owensboro Medical Health System, a member of the Rochester United Methodist Church, Owensboro Lodge No. 130 F&AM, Yellowbanks Lodge No. 957 F&AM, Joe Daviess Chapter No. 32 R&AM, Owensboro Council No. 34 R&SM, Owensboro Commander No. 15 Knights Templar, Acacia Chapter No. 46 OES, Rizpah Shrine Temple, as well as the past grand commander of Knights Templar in Kentucky and various other Masonic and civic organizations. He was a member of Kentucky Wesleyan All-American Club. He twice received the Tom Wallace Award for forestry. His hobbies were quail hunting, forestry and farming and he enjoyed training bird dogs.
Dr. Smith is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Darrell Smith of Owensboro; his son, Hal T. Smith of Owensboro; a brother, Lenn "Doc" Smith of Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Spence Corder of Madisonville and June Carlyle of Rochester; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. The Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rochester cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Rochester United Methodist Church, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, the Salvation Army or Kentucky Wesleyan College Scholarship Fund.
Bruce Ray Cobb

Mr. Bruce Ray Cobb, 42, died Sunday about 6:45 p.m. at his home in Shawneetown, Ill. He was born in Muhlenberg County on April 21, 1962, and had lived in Illinois for the past five years. He had lived for several years in Madisonville. He was preceded in death by his father, M.C. Cobb.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Cobb of Shawneetown; his mother, Marie Scott of Graham; three stepsons; two stepdaughters; four sisters; one brother; four stepsisters; one stepbrother; 10 grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and two great-nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 1 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home by the Rev. Bill Skipworth. Burial will be in the Yeargins Chapel cemetery in Graham. Friends may call at Gary's Funeral Home today from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m.

Allen Conrey

Allen Conrey of Leisure Years Nursing Home died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004. She was born Sept. 3, 1906, and retired from General Electric. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emer Conrey.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Strong and husband Ralph; and granddaughter, Judy Collins, all of Owensboro; three great-granddaughters, Jamie Linn and husband Greg of Lewisport, Dr. Jayna Jones and husband Mike of Hawesville, and Jill Collins of Lewisport; and two great-great-grandsons, Joshua and Caleb Jones.
Private services will be for family only and there will be no visitation. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
James D. 'Bud' Miller Sr.

HARDINSBURG - James D. "Bud" Miller Sr., 73, of Hardinsburg died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was a member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Burnett Miller; a son, James D. "Jim" Miller Jr.; two daughters, Pam Adkisson and Cindy Horsley; five brothers, Hager Miller Jr., Bill Miller, Tice Miller, Max Miller and Charles D. "Chuck" Miller; and three sisters, Amelia Hubble, Barbara Squires and Lynn Dowell.

Elmer Lee Vaughn

Elmer Lee Vaughn, 81, of Hillcrest Nursing Home died there at 2:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004. He was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Strawberry Plains, Tenn., to Willie E. Vaughn and Nannie Bell Brown Vaughn and was a retired painter from the Owensboro Wagon Factory. He was a member of Washington Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Norman E. Vaughn of Owensboro; three sisters, Ruby Gray of Owensboro, Nancy Hicks of Lake Havisue, Ariz., and Wilma Sweat of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clear Run Baptist Church cemetery in Ohio County with the Rev. Wesley O. Hanson officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home.
William B. 'Bill' Knight

CLOVERPORT - William B. "Bill" Knight, 49, of Cloverport died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Greg Roach Farm. He had worked as chief engineer for a barge line and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Knight and Will Knight; four brothers, Frank Knight, Wayne Knight, Don Knight and Bobby Knight; and seven sisters, Mary Helen Riney, Rita Webb, Marie Haycraft, Beth Smith, Sue White, Alice Belew and Ruby Davis.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial: Calvary cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace Funeral Home in Cloverport.

Catherine Elizabeth Galloway, 84, formerly of 7941 Knottsville-Mount Zion Road, Philpot died at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 28, 1917, in Daviess County to Clifton Neal and Mary Etta Woods Neal and retired from Bishop Soenneker Home as a nurse's aide. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church and Maceo Quilting Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Galloway in 1986; sons, Stephen Earl Galloway and James A. Galloway; and a daughter, Judy Galloway.
Survivors include sons, Bernard N. Galloway and his wife Elsie of Ensor and Larry Ray Galloway and his wife Betty of Owensboro; daughters, Mary Ellen Ashworth and her husband James of Owensboro, Thelma Jean Metts and her husband Charles of South Carolina and Faye E. Vanover and her husband Neal of Reed; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Manaway and his wife Janice of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Reba Manaway of Florida; and sisters, Martine Horn and her husband Bob of Las Vegas, Dorothy Gonzalas and her husband Bob of Wildwood, Fla., and Louise Crews of Mirimar, Fla.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Meredith officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
