BEAVER DAM - Winburn Bonell Hackett, 77, of 836 Broad St., Beaver Dam, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at home. He was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Smith County, Tenn., to Chester Hackett and Bessie West Hackett. He was an agriculture teacher at Ohio County High School, a member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Defeated Creek, Tenn., and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Flonnie Gibson Hackett of Beaver Dam; and a daughter, Lea Ann Hackett of Beaver Dam.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Patterson officiating. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County, 1211 Main St., Hartford, KY 42347.

Murry Lee Hardy

Murry Lee Hardy, 76, of Owensboro died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born Sept. 25, 1928, Mr. Hardy was a 50-year charter member of Immaculate Catholic Church and was a 40-year employee of BellSouth, retiring as the central office manager. Mr. Hardy was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a member of Immaculate Men's Club and enjoyed playing cards and pool and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Mae Thompson Hardy; a daughter, Paula (and Leo) Bradley of Owensboro; three sons, Joe (and Trish) Hardy of Houston, Bill (and Becky) Hardy of Owensboro and Chris Hardy of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Dr. Nicole (and Dr. David) Brey, Brandon (and Amy) Hardy, Ben Vessels, Ross Hardy and Lindsay Hardy; three stepgrandchildren, Jason (and Missy) Bradley, Jared Bradley and Laura Bradley; and two brothers, Ira (and Ruth Ann) Hardy and Ellis (and Doris) Hardy, both of Owensboro.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Immaculate Catholic Church, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. Monday. Prayers will be at 4 p.m. Sunday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303 or to BellSouth Telephone Pioneers, Christmas Wish, 4642 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Dessie Jenkins Peay

Dessie Jenkins Peay, 95, of Owensboro died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Bon Harbor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born June 17, 1909, in Butler County, Mrs. Peay was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. Her interests were gardening, fishing, camping and crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis G. Peay, on June 15, 1975; two sons, Kenneth Earl Peay, on Sept. 27, 1933, and Donell Hugh Peay Sr. on Sept. 6, 2003; four brothers, Henry, Lee, Edward and Marshall Jenkins; and two sisters, Ruby Smith and Martha G. Jenkins.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Belinda Peay of Havelock, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha Sue and Sammy McCanless of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Jean Peay of Owensboro; two sisters, Beatrice Mallory and Mona Belle Jenkins, both of Lewisburg; 10 grandchildren, Donnie, Debbie, Diana, Doris, David, Peri, Chuck, Jerry, Jeff and Crystal; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, and after 8:30 a.m. Monday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Diabetes Foundation.

Randall Earl 'Tank' Alexander Jr.

Randall Earl "Tank" Alexander Jr., 78, of 1230 Wayside Drive West, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home. He was born July 18, 1927, to the late Randall and Mabel Conner Alexander Sr. in Daviess County. He was a retired electrician with Local No. 1701, a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, a Kentucky Colonel and an Army veteran of World War II. Randall was active in labor movements, a charter member and officer of United Steel Workers No. 4959, past president of IBEW No. 1701, VFW Post 696, All American Commander in 1994-95, National All American VFW Commander in 1994-95, American Legion Post 9, AMVETS No. 75, and a member of American Legion No. 40 & 8. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Clara May Alexander; two sisters, Beverly Athen and Lou Nell Alexander; and a brother, Charles Ferrell Alexander.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Brenda Alexander; three sons, Charles Lewis Alexander and Parvin Tony Alexander, both of Owensboro, and Clarence (Rudy) Alexander of Mooresville, N.C.; a daughter, Michelle Alexander White of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Ryan and Luke Alexander, Eric and Alex White and Brant Walker; a brother, Donnie Joe Alexander of Owensboro; a sister, Shirlene Simmons of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301 or Wendell Foster's Campus for Developmental Disabilities, P.O. Box 1668, Owensboro, KY 42302.

Mary Drue Jones

Mary Drue Jones, 84, of 5667 Jones Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at her home. She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Daviess County to Drury Christian and Ella Birkhead Christian and was a housewife. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, sewing, being with friends and family and gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James Wilbur Jones; two sons, Bryan Jones of Owensboro and Pat Jones of Philpot; two grandsons, Jimmy and Joey; two granddaughters, Kristy and Jamie; two brothers, Paul Christian of Owensboro and Joseph Christian of New Kensington, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Butler of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. The Rev. Freddie Byrd will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Family Service Center, 601 E. 23rd St., Owensboro, 42303 or Passionist Nuns, 8564 Crisp Road, Whitesville, KY.

John W. Muster III

CALHOUN - John W. Muster III, 79, of Calhoun died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. John William Muster III was born March 1, 1925, in Calhoun to the late John W. and Eunice Whayne Muster II and was known as "Bill" to his family and friends. He was a member of Calhoun High School class of 1943 and was later married to the former Claire Marie Gibson on July 5, 1943, in Owensboro. Bill Muster was a Kentucky licensed funeral director for more than 55 years and had served as president of Muster Funeral Homes of Calhoun and Livermore for more than 50 years. He was the fourth generation of his family to serve the people of McLean County and its surrounding communities. As a dedicated funeral director he was a member of many professional associations. Bill was a member and past president of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, was a member of National Funeral Directors Association, served as a director for the Kentucky Funeral Directors Burial Association for more than 30 years, served on the Calhoun cemetery Board for several years and was also a former member of the National Conference of Funeral Service Examining Board.

Bill Muster was a member and past deacon of the Calhoun Christian Church, a member and past president of Calhoun Lions Club and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a 50-year member of the Vienna Lodge No. 423 F&AM and was an honorary member of the Monsarrat Lodge No. 379 F&AM. Bill Muster was also a 50-year member of Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville and was also a member of Western Kentucky Consistory.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Claire; two sons and their wives, John W. Muster IV and Susan and Michael Muster and Dee Ann, all of Calhoun; four grandchildren, John W. Muster V and his wife, Adrianna, Lee M. Muster, Kendel Marie Muster and Holly Michelle Muster, all of Calhoun; a niece, Whayne Ann Crick Badgett of Madisonville; and two great-nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery, with military honors conducted by McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5415. Friends may visit with the Muster family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Muster family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Muster Funeral Homes Memorial Scholarship Fund at McLean County High School. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.

Beulah Kirtley Rone

LIVERMORE - Beulah Kirtley Rone, 91, of Livermore died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Beulah Lee Kirtley was born April 23, 1913, in Ohio County to the late Earnest Speed and Annie Alexander Kirtley, was a 1932 graduate of the former Livermore High School and was later married to Dr. Wendell Holmes Rone Sr. on June 30, 1934. Beulah was a retired kindergarten teacher, teaching in several communities, including Mayfield and Owensboro. She also taught classes at Mid Continent University for ministers' wives. Beulah was active on local, regional and state levels for the Baptist Women's Missionary Union and was a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church. Her husband, Dr. Wendell H. Rone Sr., served as pastor for many different churches during his life, where Beulah was always active in the music ministries of each church and also teaching children and youths in mission work. After her husband's retirement, Beulah remained active by teaching senior adults in different activities at the church, and they were both active in Livermore Senior Citizens. Her husband of 69 years, Dr. Wendell H. Rone Sr., died July 29, 2003.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Wendell H. Rone Jr. and Gail of Lake Quivira, Kan., Ila Faye Rone Miller and Bob of Las Vegas and Kyle Yates Rone and Metta of Nassau Bay, Texas; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Norton Lee Kirtley of Utica and W.C. Kirtley of Jasper, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Alberta "Birdie" Kirtley and Edith Bennett, both of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bellevue Baptist Church, 519 Byers Ave., Owensboro, with the Rev. Wendell Sandefur, the Rev. Gary Shockley and Dr. Guy Deane officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with the Rone family from 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at Bellevue Baptist Church. Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, is in charge of funeral arrangements for the Rone family.

The Rone family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Livermore Senior Citizens, P.O. Box 279, Livermore, KY 42352 or Livermore Deacon Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 8, Livermore, KY 42352. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Bellevue Baptist Church and at Musters in Livermore.

Luther Russ

CENTRAL CITY - Luther Russ, 89, of 160 Parkway Lane, Central City, died at 2:20 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born June 13, 1915, in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Nelson Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shellie Dockery Russ of Central City; five sons, Dillard (Beulah) Russ of Tennyson, Ind., Lendell (Brenda) Russ of Central City, Walton (Jo Ann) Russ of Bremen, Gayle (Sandra) Russ of Evansville and Gary (Cheryl) Russ of Central City; five daughters, Sue Adcock (Bill) Vincent of Beaver Dam, Penny (David) Noffsinger and Sherry (Billy) Sharp, both of Central City, Joyce (Curtis) Lear of Crofton, and Janet (Keith) Casebier of Central City; 23 grandchildren, Glendean Majors, Thresea Kincade, Mark Russ, Scott Russ, Kristy Curry, Julie Hodgkins, Tammy Poe, Brenda Noe, Terri Handley, Ed Russ, Tim Russ, Shannon Knox, Lori Kaufman, Natalie Adcock, Jeff Noffsinger, Bryan Noffsinger, Kyle Noffsinger, Grant Sharp, Brandon Casebier, Byron Casebier, Aaron Casebier, Megan Russ and Rachael Russ; 35 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Nelson Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins, assisted by the Rev. Tim Adcock. Burial will be in Nelson Creek cemetery. Mr. Russ will lie in state at Nelson Creek Baptist Church from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Joseph Edward Durbin

Joseph Edward Durbin, 57, of 1139 Spencer Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System after a battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 19, 1947, in Owensboro to Herman Joseph and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Durbin. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was self-employed as a real estate investor since 1996 and was the owner-operator of Joe Durbin Tire Co. Inc. of Owensboro from 1972 until its sale in 1987. He has also worked as a traveling salesperson for Hunter Engineering Corp., as a store manager for Advance Auto Parts and as owner-operator of Petie's Pub. Outside of his successful business pursuits, he enjoyed spending time with his family and had a passion for cooking meals for his family gatherings. He was also an avid gardener. He is preceded in death by his father, Herman Joseph Durbin of Owensboro; and by a brother, James Durbin of Manassas, Va.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Arlene Cirul Durbin; a son and daughter-in-law, John and April Durbin of Owensboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Julie and Ray Carlisle, Amy and Don Wilkins and Emily Durbin, all of Owensboro; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Durbin of Owensboro; two brothers, Rick Durbin and David Durbin, both of Owensboro; two sisters, Judy Peak of Owensboro and Mary Jo Dickenson of Rockport, Ind.; and six grandchildren, Carissa Carlisle, Andrew Carlisle, Ryan Carlisle and Ben Wilkins and the expected birth of twins of Amy and Don Wilkins, all of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 18 and after 9 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.
